I finally have my new killer Malawi s1's going. Along with some green Panama and red Panama. I was just noticing that the Malawi are rather compact for what they are. The green Panama seems to stretch the most and quite a bit more than the Malawi and the red Panama doesn't seem to stretch quite as much as the Green.

I was pointing out the Malawi to my friend and told him "this is the new killer Malawi", he heard it as "this is the nuclear Malawi". I repeated it four times and he heard the same thing until I said it in slow motion LOL

Hi Lammy :)

Yes, the New Killer Malawi parental plant is more compact and tamed than other Malawi parental plants from previous generations.
The New Killer Malawi S1 seed line is highly inbred due to coming from a S1 reproduction so you can expect less vigor and stretching compared with other older or not so inbred Malawi lines.

Please, keep us updated with the progresses of your Malawis! ;)

Wow cst28! :) Really nice progress! Congrats, you are doing a great job with them
Woods, hazelnuts and aniseed are classic aromas in african sativas.

Yeah, i think it's time for flushing and let them mature for 1-2 weeks more, depending on your personal preference. If you really want to experience the most extreme Malawi effects then i always recommend to overmatured them a bit, their resin production will be even higher too. Really happy to see you have had a successful Malawi grow!

Hey everyone!

I'm super excited to finally be growing Ace's Malawi! I popped 2 seeds and got two very similar ladies! I'm running them in the same room as 2 Bangi Hazes (Ace), a Congo (Ace), and a Pure Africa (Original Sensible Seeds). They are on day 23 of flower and definitely the most exotic looking of the bunch.

I'm noticing they seem to really love my organic soil. I made this batch a little light on the amendments to avoid any potential issues. I did do a neem seed meal drench a week ago and a top dress with bone meal, soft rock phosphate, and some castings two nights ago. I liked the idea of a supplemental feeding after a few weeks of flowering because these plants really grow! Like Dubi said, after about a month they are really vigorous!

I will be sure to get some more pics uploaded of just the Malawi's. They are in the back of an 8'x8' double layer scrog so getting pics isn't the easiest thing in the world, but once I harvest the other varieties I will have a great view.

Hope you all are as excited as I am!

Hi MadMac,

A pleasure to see you back in action sharing your latest grows and projects here with us :)

I'm glad you still keep the Malawi, Golden Tiger and Zamaldelica mothers you selected 1-2 years ago and that they are being used in your latest breeding projects.
I'm curious to know more about the breeding directions you are taking now with the Tom Hill's Haze crosses, what are you breeding goals, what traits did you manage to improve compared with the parental plants used, etc ...

well after grown' the Tom Hill Haze I was fascinating by the great high it gave me... strong but clear... motivation until end and a nice comedown and stand up the next day...
so while I love the 3 GT, Malawi and Zam. I thought they would produce a great combination... THH is a resin monster & that can always help...
what I've discovered is that all crosses I've grown now have strong influence from the THH ... but you can still see the mother...
interesting is the smell ... original smell + THH lemon/haze :)
for Malawi the goal is to make it more pleasant clear... duration is fine
for GT the goal is to make more psychedelic ... while the mother was like and extend duration
for Zamaldelica the goal is extend duration and combine the mango/lemonhaze
it's just the first grow... from seed... wanted to see what I've done :)
no real smoke now... need a few weeks longer to finish...

Awesome thread! Malawi already stood on my wish list when I started reading the whole thread. Now I'm eager to give them a try.

@Dubi, what are the current breeding lines? After all I'm interested the most in the OKM pheno. Can I still find it in the reg pack? And waht do you think abbout the current ratio? One of 10? 2 of ten?

BTW it's great how you care for your customers and all sativa lovers!

I have a pack of malawi fems from about 5 years ago or so. The long flowering time has prevented me from jumping into them just yet and I have also contemplated running them 12/12 from seed. Seeing the plant above looking about ready at 9 weeks has certainly intrigued me. What are you folks seeing with flower times?

9-14 weeks ... depend on pheno...
fruity smell = early 8-10 weeks
oil smell = later pheno's 10-12 weeks
old wood = late pheno 12-14 weeks

my fav is the oil smell pheno... good balance between all .. high & flower time... great hard bud's ... you could hammer nails in wood with it ;-)

Hi MadMac,

Glad you have found Tom Hill Haze line so fascinating to consider to use her for most of your latest crosses, happy for you! :)

Guess you have already harvested all the different ACE x THH hybrids and gave them a bit of curing. What your opinion about them so far ?
Did you find any big improvement over our strains or over pure THH in your hybrids ?
