Anyone else have issues with powdery mildew. Funny the seed plant didnt have it but this one does. Never had a plant have it b4. Got some more clones that havent rootrd yet but they dont show ant signs of PM. Its the first and only seed of malawi fem that i germed. Its the rotten fruity fast pheno. If these round of clones ends up with PM ill just germ another and hope it has greater resistance. Also gotta bleach the place down

Have not had any PM issues with the fem Malawis. Maybe environmental. They also require rather warm night lights out temps too to maintain their happiness.

Seems like this is a safe place to share all things Malawi...very inspirational thread,,,Here is a Malawi fem seed veg 30ish days and flower 30ish days under 10/14 light schedule,,,,also fully impregnated with CBG Caribe reg male pollen....Think I got one of the lower yielding very tight very killer bud pheno's here...not a really aggressive grower,..good strong smells..akin to durban of yester years...but much tighter nugget buds..tons of tiny calyxs, good leaf ratio..,s,,,The Caribe I've grown once before other than the male used for this.....should be great combination I think

How much does she increase in size during flower? I can manage something that triples, it's just good to know what to expect and plan accordingly.

I'm probably not the best to answer this but in my one grow with Malawi, some of the phenos never stopped stretching. I have a 7' 9" tent and the tops were above the light and the light was as high as I could pull it. I had to top them to get them low enough to get light. I finally gave up and harvested them at around 14 weeks i think.

They were easily were 2-2.5x or more higher than the OG hybrid that finished next to them. When they two strains began flowering phase, the OG was a little taller than the Malawi.

I learned an awful lot during that grow but I did not do the strain justice tbh.

The funny thing was, I looked at a lot of grow pics here and I didn't notice others having as much trouble with stretch as I had. Not really sure where i "went wrong".

hi [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]onavelzy[/FONT], malawi grows a lot after flowering as 4 weeks growing more and stretching ... although it is rare that they do not stop their growth once they close ends. it could be that some phenotype does not adapt well to the cultivation system that you used or some type of light pollution that you did not notice, it could also be due to some stimulator that does not sit well and will be stressed. the truth is that I can not allude a lot with that since it is my first crop with this variety, for now I do not have a problem that I have closing points and I hope you do not stretch more greetings!

I can't describe how dense these buds are,it's like thai stick dripping in resin.And the taste is like perfume...Not much smell of the actual bud(maybe hashy like)...But the taste...Ahhhh...It is strong ever for high tolerant smokers(eh-hem).But not over powering...Like a different kind of sativa.No indica,don't misunderstand me,but very floaty and introspective.This would be a keeper for quality of buds/high(for me)/flowering time.Pity I don't keep cuts.This is top grade weed .Under its influence I always see dreams when I sleep,which is actually very rare if I am not in a break.This really impressed me.

Malawi is not our most resistant strain against powder mildew, but you shouldn't have pm problems of this kind if your growing environment is clean and you use the proper preventives like sulfur.

If the powder mildew is already established in your indoor garden you must treat your plants before switch them to flower, and clean all the tent, fans and tools with bleach. Hope you can eradicate the problem.

Hi Harry Gypsna,

Malawi has a moderate stretching for a pure sativa, especially in the more recent generations (New Killer Malawi phenos, fruity Malawi phenos and purple Malawis), the Old Killer Malawi phenos more prevalent in the regular version like to stretch more.

Of course, Malawis grown from seed will tend to grow taller with stronger stretching than the same parental plants grown from clone, this is applicable for all the sativa strains. Malawi can stretch approx 30-80 % in the first 4-5 weeks of flowering, but after that the stretching stops.

Thanks for sharing an early smoke report of your recently harvested Malawi

The fruity and purple Malawi phenos really have a more refined and loud terpene profile, but as you have experienced, the resinous killer phenos have a woody/oily old school african sativa aroma, not so refined in the aromas like most modern strains, but after a good curing their taste can be quite pleasant for the sativa lovers that appreciate these kind of old school sativa aromas.

Glad you rate the effect as top grade, friend it can only get better with the curing, i always recommend to cure Malawi for at least 3 months to experience properly its effects and terpenes.
