What do you think?

Looks like a cannabis plant, a healthy large cannabis plant. These sativas sure take their sweet time to go into full flower. My GT was flipped 44 days ago and it's only now starting to make trichomes and actual calyxes.

I took down two plants so far, going to take down another one tomorrow. All three are mostly cloudy with a few amber. The fourth plant in my tent is still rocking though and still has some clear trichomes, that plant will stay in another week or so. I'll bring in a blue dream plant from the back yard to finish in the tent as well because it's getting cold out and I don't want it to get frost damage.

So far, one was not a good yielded, it looked promising and covered in trichomes, the smell was fantastic, but once dried it really shriveled up and lost weight. I'll reveg it, since I can probably do it better, and it was the early flowering one. The one I trimmed tonight was incredibly dense, but the colas were not very thick, there was more like a lot of fairly straight thin colas that came up through the trellis. The one I'll harvest tomorrow is not the best looking, it got Spider mites once I flipped to flower, however none of the other plants in the tent got hit with them (3 out of 4 pretty highly resistant to Spider mite).

The last plant is the insane beast, huge donkey dick style colas and many of them, very thick like 2 liter bottles they feel quite dense and needed to be tied up. If the high on that one is any good I'll definitely be keeping it as a mother plant.

I have smoked some of the early plant, it's ok, not great in the potency department. I didn't think it would be though just from how it grew. The one I trimmed tonight should be a lot stronger, can't wait to try it in a few weeks

Thanks for the feedback stevewinthrop

I'm sure the potency will improve with a correct curing.

Wish you find enough interesting female/s to keep in your mother room for future grows.

Hey dubi and ace crew!!! Curious to when this Malawi was acquired? I am searching for the high grade sativa I used to smoke around 1998 in the Toronto area. Was bricked but now I'm thinking it could have been Malawi cobed. Cause it wasn't the same as mexi brick.

Had my friends going green off a couple puffs it was that good... Beyond good...

Update: ground up one of the buds from the plant that was "ok" potency-wise and loaded a bong bowl assuming it was just "ok" potency... Well I smoked that bowl 12 hours ago and woke up still high... Wtf? I don't remember anything from last night except for small snapshots of eating and laughing. Powerful shit, watch out! I must have tested a popcorn bud or something, I don't know what I was thinking. Respect

Hi Steve I thought the same with my GT buds but 9months cure and it the best weed I have had outside of Africa.
Your plants need at least 6 months cure to be at their best, good time are coming

Very strong, I have taken down 3 plants so far and just eyeballing it I have much more than a pound hanging in my dry room. I am excited to have this much of this strong of an herb in my possession. It's truly a blessing, for others who are thinking about growing this strain but are hesitant because of the longer flowering time, don't hesitate! It is so much better quality of high than an 8 week strain. I would put this sativa above the dankest indica any day. I've smoked gg#4, and though both are probably around 30 percent thc, this is such a cleaner and 'higher' high. You will have so many vivid thoughts and ponderances, your body will tingle with energy, and you will never reach the top. I've been a daily smoker for many years and this strain made me so high for so long. I wonder why this isn't the number one seller worldwide... Must be that flower time

Exactly!!!!
Absolute true.... it's the Queen...
i spread the word since my first Malawi grow this year...
for me it's a must have in every serious grow box!
There are two key's to get the max out of Malawi.
propper ripening of the bud like 10% Amber and
propper curing of the harvest... min two month better three....
M.:tiphat:

just to compare...

Thanks for all the good feedback that this strain is having lately, it really makes us very happy after all the effort and years that we have spent in the breeding and improving this Malawi line :)

Has this been entered in the competitions? Any cup wins yet???

Hi sourpuss,

There are a few reasons why ACE has never entered any cup.

Firsly, we are mainly into seed production, the few sinsemilla plants we grew are only for personal use, to evaluate parental plants in different environments, to take breeding decisions, etc .... but the outcome is always for personal use, and to share for free with close friends and family. We are not commercial growers that produce big excedents, neither we sell weed or transport weed, it's ilegal to do it here.

Secondly, most of the cups are promotional events, the more you pay and the better connections you have with the organizers then the higher chances you have to win the cup.

Thirdly, we are specialized on sativas and there are no real Pure sativa categories in the cups, the sativa entries in 99 % of the cups are sativa/indica hybrids, you will never see a 100 % pure sativa wining a pure sativa cup. Why is this ? You cannot compare pure sativas with sativa/indicas, not only the effect is different, the sativa/indica usually have better bag appeal too, and more complex aromas, so they have higher chances to win over the real pure sativas. In my opinion, a cup should have different categories: a real pure sativa category, a sativa/indica category, an indica category and a landrace category. Indoors and outdoors, organic vs chemical, etc ...

4. I dont need to give for free weed of my personal use that took me so much effort to grow to people i don't know (judges) in order to evaluate its quality, i can evaluate the quality by myself and neither i need others' recognition.

5. Judges base highly their opinion on the bag appeal, intensity of the aromas, bud density, overall appearance. And many times quality has little thing to do with appearance.

6. Judges take so many different samples in so little time that is impossible to judge properly or take any decent conclusions. It's takes me months of proper curing, smoking different parental plants in different moment, moods, etc ... in order to evaluate the best ones. It cannot be correctly evaluated smoking dozens of different weeds, with dozens of persons around, in just a few hours or a few days

There are maybe more good reasons.

Yes I agree fully, wasnt trying to be negative in anyway. If anything im gonna try the strain and if I like it I will prob enter something maybe a hybrid for a better chance at winning. Although id like to see how a true sativa would score in a cup setting. Truely ignorant to not include a category for these sativas... malawi looks like it would have nice bag appeal if trimmed up nicely.

Dont wanna muck up you great thread dubi!!! 90s malawi is what I was looking for:tiphat:

high sourpuss,
yes that was the early Malawi... can finish in 10 weeks and from cut like the outdoor plant even quicker 8-9 weeks.
Really impressive for a pure sativa!
if you search the Malawi from the 90' i would buy the breeders pack...
there you find the different phenos selected...
thx

It's always very interesting to test the same parental plant, being grown in the same season in different conditions and compare...

The same New Malawi Killer (from clone too) posted at #866 grown there in a pot with much more light intensity .... the one in this post here is growing directly in soil.

Unfortunately, she was not planted in the best and sunniest place of the garden, and she has been quite in the shade since the start of the flowering, but she is still producing the same dense and evil flowers that are familiar of this parental plant. In the pics with approx 50 days of flowering.
