Hey Av you got your reply in while i was typing i guess. - There may be a good reason but ive not experienced anything bad to my knowledge so far . They are made for this sort of duty cycle imo coupled with the performance and price point makes it a winner for my needs

the only thing to watch for buying any pump is whether or not the impeller is magnetically driven. because if not the motor shaft goes through a bulkhead and also drives the impeller. there will be seals that will eventually wear out and could allow oil from the motor into the system.

some may have dry motors and will just fail without contaminating the system. i've used danner mag drive aquarium pumps for years and now these little magnetically driven eco pumps which have proven to be quite reliable.

I am running the cheapest cycle timers money can buy. panel mount, has the right features as far as cycle durations and such , chinese, widely rebranded at 100.00 USD at pop, handles 5 amps, and 10 bucks each on eBay. i use one cycle timer and pump per plant. i built two five channel cycle timers for about 140 bucks total.

i have had fantastic luck with these timers, and also with inexpensive temp/humidity controllers from china. its DIY, yes (need to wire them, perhaps install in box) , but very reliable, especially at the amperages these pumps draw. digital timers, mechanics relays

if anyone is interested, i have the proper wiring diagrams (instructions are ... a little opaque without digging a little

if you dont like cheap AND reliable, look somewhere else.

timer ranges from 1 second to 99 hours = I HIGHLY RECOMMEND

model is DH48-S - 2 inches square, 4 inches or so long. comes with mounting hardware and cover

mine are the 220v version

Yes please RB would be great if you could post those!
We can get lots of chinese stuff quite easily in Australia and i need to get myself some better environment control.

I bought a new hi-par 600w a few weeks ago and have had to turn it down to 75% as the plants are getting heat stress and drinking heaps of water and sending the EC in my reservoir through the roof.

Am seriously thinking of doing an 8-plant horizontal scrog using PPKs under two horizontal 600w next run. I want to try a few new seeds out and refresh my horizontal scrog technique

Would be interesting to see the comparison side by side of hi-par vs. normal digital.

i edited including the picts and a link
these things are amazing

i live in argentina, ao chinese goodies are very difficult to get (old school high tariffs, 50 percent import duty) i have to smuggle most of my gear in checked bags (customs is very complacent here most of the time)

Was at the feed store today. Saw the "little giant" feed pans. 6.4liters, 3gal and 7 gal. After catching up on the threads latests posts, I'm glad I didn't grab any. Question, since I won't be vegging longer than say 2-3 weeks, and am also horizontal diy cree cob bars for lights, I am not aiming for "trees". More to the tune of bushy 2.5'-3' shrubs which suits my tent just fine.
My question is, is the original 1.5" tailpiece sufficient for a 3.5 on 3.5ppk? Or should I go diy and go the 2 or new 3" route? Peace.

My 1 plant setup just started 12/12. This isn't my first rodeo, but it is my first time using the PPK.

View Image

This is a simple 250w HPS system in a 2'x3'x6' tent. I'm running the 3 gallon pan with Profile substrate on a 3.5 gallon bucket with a 5 gallon control/pump bucket and a 3.5 gallon reservoir on top. The plant bucket and control/pump bucket are connected with 5/8" hose as is the pump output, and the reservoir is connected to the control/pump bucket with 1/4" vinyl tubing through a valve stem. My pump is a Mag drive 5 controlled by the Blueprint BDCT601. I'm starting off running 4" of air gap and flooding every 2 hours with Jack's mixed at 600 PPM and a PH of ~5.5.
This run I have a cut of Jackberry F2 going and I'm looking forward to the results!

This is me striking ppk gold! I think I may have found a 1 plant ppk system to emulate. Although rather handy at diy,I have a hard time with the IDEA part of the setup. Couldn't wrap my head around a way to do a 1 maybe 2 plant setup that wouldn't infringe on my current perpetual run,but is upgradeable in the even that I switch my system over. Thanks fir the pic flip. Do you have a thread? Peace.

Also,Snook,D9,Av8 Mckush, or anyone else that has ppm knowledge that answers regularly around these parts, I've already purchased the goodyear hose. Can this be substituted for the above hose/s aside from the float hose? Peace.

1.5" will absolutely work for you. I've grown many 1.5 to 2 pound plants in a 3.5 gallon container with a 1.5" wick.

Yes! The Goodyear hose is arguably my favorite part of the system. Suckerfish never leaks and I get to walk all over them.

i am running a bct1 and a cap art dne and 2 of the ct1 cheapos.

I had several of the ct1 types fail on me so ive sworn em off chap. Some may be better than others but i had enough and the blueprint have been better. Lots of cycle timinr choices out there for sure.

Can't remember which post, i'm pretty sure it's in this thread, but are the 3 gal feed pans still having the "issue"? I really like the low profile of the pans. Peace.

don't use them as they are too short. a better choice would be the 3.5 gal buckets filled to about 7" or 2.5 gals.

if you are limited vertically a good choice is the 3 gal rubbermaid tubs, one on top the other. you use the lid on the bottom one and because the lids are indented and you don't fill the top tub to the rim you can end up with 11" from the floor to the top of the medium.

11" total height is pretty damn nice D! Snooks you using this approach? I know you are height challenged there

Edit; fwiw my lowes 5gal base + lid + 7gal tub = 20.25"

I have mine on tripod bases tho so my actual heights are more than that 20.25 but 22-23" depending upon were i have the individualized gap set. The tripods allow me to handle my sloped floor, provide individualizable gaps, and allow me to hold a bit more volume in the system. Im around 48 gals in my 4 site system

D9 thank you Sir. Guess I should've waited or at least checked this thread before asking nearly the same question in Snook's. My apologies Snook. Get caught up reading a thread and it's hard not to finish it. Glad it was only 11 pages long.

I'm in a 4.5'x4.5'x7' tent. I can take my lights up to within 5" of the frame bars. I've been pondering hanging my bars vertically for a tent style ppk tree. That'll be a future tent all to itself. Still have one more light to build for this current tent.

Didn't mean to add that smiley not sure how it generated. I take it I am still under post count to be able to edit my posts? Peace.
