I haven't had any issues with it. How much jacks/calnit are you using?

they started that blue shit a few years ago.. don't let any little blue balls (no pun) fall on ANYTHING that will stain.. my wife hasn't noticed be there are two little blue/green dots on the new, mostly gray, granite counter top in the bathroom.

but no, not a difference with the blue Calium but I will ask for white next time.. if they still make it white..

Have you tried hydrogen peroxide???? The sort of folks we are....normally have that stuff sitting around somewhere.....

HP to remove the stains from the granite? no, didn't know it was a fix.

EDIT: yes, tried it... it isn't the fix.. didn't even lighten up the stain.

I also saw a video using bleach to remove blueberry stains from granite.....

It took several hours..... cover with plastic......

but removed the stain perfectly......

I just got my jacks hydro and calnit in the mail yesterday. Excited to give it a try.

This may sound like a foolish question, but how are you guys storing the nutrients after you open the bag? I ordered 25lbs of each and they came in bags, not buckets like I thought they would.

Using the same as ive been using for the last 3 grows 360ppm/240ppm.

i too store them in 3.5 gal buckets. water rez looks very clean, PPM is in check and i always PH adjust with every rez change before i leave it to do its thing.

Environment is same as always, but for some reason i am now getting yellow spots and dry, crisping tips on some bottom leaves and some leaves in the middle of the plant and now growth has stopped. ive got about 15 flawless harvests from PPKs, this is something new. Looks like it could be a Potassium deficiency. thinking about just tearing down and starting this room over again as it has gotten really bad.

No thanks to your nutrient discussions :), I found the answer about my 5 quart feed pans.
They do NOT nest in a 5G or 3.5G bucket. They slide down an inch or so into the bucket. So I am going to use them on top of a 3.5G with lid and a hole. Too bad, as I was trying to avoid the expense and hole drilling labor of a lid.

I will post some pics when it is assembled.

hey, there is no way it could be an actual potassium deficiency so what is your ph right now? any pics?

I went to the "Sam's Club Bakery". They give away a 2 gallon bucket that is easy to open and has a rubber gasket on the lid. I use that for both dry nutrients.

Walmart bakeries have the same bucket but charged 50 cents for it.

Just ask for the small icing bucket.

You may need two buckets but I cant remember for sure.

For a while, I had been ph adjusting the mix res too but D9 recommended I just let the ph take care of itself. Since then I've had no more nute problems. I'm convinced now that chasing the ph only exacerbates nute deficiencies/ lockout. Just my two cents.

Yup, neither do I, I never chase PH, just started doing initial PH adjustment as water runs high at my commercial spot. Never check PH at home though.

I missed the question about the blue tubs.....I tried these as well to build a mini system, lowes/Home Depot sells these as Mixing tubs in the paint section, also bought the sink drain tailpieces to use with them but didn't like how they turned out so I just drilled a bunch of drainage holes and out them in a tray with drippers as my veg system which works really well

Hey Guys, been lurking and learning. Thanks so much for all the info. Quick question, the 3 gal. feed pan, is that the soft rubber kind that I have seen, or is that a plastic one that I see in the pics at the beginning of this thresd

Hello all.

Hey D9,

Thanks for your previous response regarding the wave/pulse feeding. Your system sounds like the fine tuning is very achievable, even for the novice.

Also, I was wondering your thoughts with one main reservoir for multiple rooms?

I (like everyone else) have space restrictions. I was wondering if I could elevate a 55 gallon drum, and have it piped to 2 or 3 rooms? This would supply the control container (with the float valve).
If that is all possible.....I guess with 3 rooms, I would have to have 2x's 55 gallon drums in series?

howdy! that is the plastic one they sell at farm supply stores but a lot of containers can work.

you could use one source at 600 ppm or ec 1.2 and feed the entire building by running multiple lines to multiple float valves. for example two flower rooms and a veg room, like you have.

each room with it's independent system but with one nutrient bulk reservoir.

the drawback would be if you wanted to use different nutrient strengths at different stages of growth. while it's been shown that we can use one strength input for life, you may be able to get a better plant by manipulating strength somewhat. but, you may not, either!

because of the way the ppk presents nutrients to the plant in mass availability at all times it would take an extremely intense lighting array to require a stronger feed.

one thing that demonstrates the plants selective uptake is that, during veg and up through about 2.5 weeks into stretch the nutrient strength in the recirculating part of the system is pulled down in strength from an input of 600 ppm to about 450-475 ppm.

and at the same time, in the same facility, being fed from the same 600 ppm bulk reservoir, the recirculating reservoir in late flower is running at 1000-1250 ppm all the time.

Twist, I've been running one res for all twelve of my plants. Four are always in veg and the other eight in flower. I assume that the nute uptake fluctuation that d9 referred to is somewhat buffered by having both a veg and flower room on one res. either way....it still works!

so, what is your input and what is the recirculating part reading? i never got to try running them all in veg and flower from one reservoir.
