A few things that I've learned about growing in coco with a drip systm DTW

organic nutes & rez's don't usually play well together . if your going to feed teas to your pots , do it seperatly & i would say yes it has to be PH ready . just because it is coco .

Lucky you Dan mate, I'm subject to anything from -12C to 35C during a year, although I have to say I look forward to the cold for my plants as they colour up a treat when the cold comes

Yeah dealing with waste water has become a huge pain. Iam running like 8 tables and each one has its own waste Rez under the table. They only hold around 2.5-3 gal so I have to change them out fairly often. Feels like I am always dumping waste water. I d like to see if I can run at lower ppm with drip clean and less runoff.

Also I need to get some timers that can run seconds. All I have is the digital ones that can do 1 min minimum. So I attach a sprayer to the 1/4" line and usually feed a 1 gal pot 1-2 mins depending on size of plant. Still I could do better.

I d like to design a system that can collect the runoff and have it drain outside aomehow. But for now not an option.

Check out condensate pumps to deal with dtw waste water. They can pump vertical 15+ feet and operate effectively in very shallow water.

Growing in a shed i drilled some holes n ran tubing so my waste water feeds the blackberry bush behind shed. It looks pretty healthy too.

Hello guys, so just finished running a full grow from seed to harvest with this method tweaked a little and I'll say I'm only half happy...
I say tweaked in the sense that instead of dripping to waste I collected the waste water in a resevoir and reuse, but the resevori is only a 14 liter bucket which get used up in max 3 days, so like every 2/3 days I make a new feed, so it is not a pure dtw more like recyclying but the feed does not stay for more than 3 days, save nutrients and some precious time..
ok soo to why I'm half happy; my yield increased by 40-50 percent, infact in the last week of flower, I new this was my biggest yield since I started growing..i was previously growing in soil...
my weed was the most potent I've ever grown too, damn it! I didn't even cure, just eliminated the source of nitrogen 3 weeks to harvest, reduce pk13.14 to all time low two week to harvest and flushed with plain water(not phed) for last 6/7 days...then dried for 5-6 days(so like one week cure, if we can call the drying period too curing )
the weed burned gives a nice white smoke and very grey ashes..almost like cigarettes...very potent too...

I'm not entirly happy because growing under 600 watt in soil, the maximum yield in dry weight I've ever had was 110 grams, from 18 plants or soo...I've been reading ppl doing 30 grams dried weight a plant and I was producing an average of like 7 gram per plant dried weight...
changing to coco this average has increased to like 10 -11 gram per plant dried weight
I was hoping to at least double...
now the only culprit I can find is the 600 watt bulb...in my humble opinion is not enough...soon I wanna upgrade the room to some powerful 500 watt led which gives out more power than a 600 hps and we ill see...

so you more seasoned farmers, do you think the culprit is the hps? my grow space is a 120x120cm dark box, or I just have to master my farming art very well? 30 grams dried weight from a plant of someone compared to my 16 gram dried weight(my very best) looks like something terrible is wrong with me and my grow in general... all advice from everybody are whole heartedly welcomed

IF .... You're cramming too many plants in, for a 1.2m2 tent 4 is the optimum IME

180 grms was your total yield?

My average is 200+ per plant, so 800 per run

The used feed is thrown away to avoid any possibility of spreading pathogens like root rot and also because the plants will have taken what they want out of the feed, so you're giving them what they already didn't want again if you feed them the waste

That could well be your problem as you're not feeding them properly, not so much a 'tweak' as a blunder

You don't give your pot size or any other details so can't comment further

More light is always an advantage but you have to have the system dialled in before you upgrade, changing the lamps every 6 months is the cheapest way to optimise your existing set up

I built in a sump pump basin and drains for waste water removal out of a poly gas can and cheap sump pump.....
