A few things that I've learned about growing in coco with a drip systm DTW

I think he means algae growth in his system?

yes, algae. Its not so intense like in this photo, but the water gets slightly green and smells very bad.

A question, I have decided that half inch lines work better for me with my setup, for me it seams to be a more even distribution so I would like to know if any of you have any preference on a drip ring? Black holes, rain rings or something home made? Witch do you guys prefer?

i'm using the black holes right now Aspen & have been working great , but they're a PIA to clean . have been looking at these recently .

...so would water flow out of the drip lines into the top then disperse evenly through the holes?

yup , thats the theory . theres a video somewhere on they're home site . they also have clips to hold the 1/4" lines to the plates so you can put as many as you like where ever you want them .

this is to the original poster and Bush Dr.
in reference to watering up to five times a day getting to the end of flowering, can you please give a more or less value of the quantity of feed water in each of these five watering? how many milliliters more or less? because the terms "lots" and "small" are very relative...

In Flower:-
For 4 plants using a 600W about 500 ml per feed per plant, so in a nights use 4 X 3 X 500= 6000ml, 6 litres out of the Rez, you'll probably get anywhere from 1-2 litres per day run through at first but it'll reduce as the root ball grows

Same proportions for 5 feeds/day

These are only guidelines and you may find you need more as the plants are finishing

Personally I'd rather have too much going through than not enough, nutes are cheap and £30/grow can be the difference between a big plant and an average one

Don't use a plastic manifold, you'll get different rates of flow from each one, make a 300mm diameter ring from 13mm pipe tee'd of the main 13mm tube and take separate feed lines from that, you need at least 2 per pot, 3 is perfect

BEFORE you use the set up lay it out as it would be in use, put a 1litre jug under each dripper and run water through the pump for 1 minute, then see how much each jug contains, you should then be able to sort out which combination of drip lines provides the same amount to all 4 pots, keep the drip lines as short as possible

To control the flow from the pump a simple T with a tap on just above the water line will allow you to bleed the excess back into the Rez and also aerate it
^^that'll also stop any syphoning of the entire Rez and the accompanying flooding

I have a post somewhere about making a t-piece inlet valve for controlling the pressure, somewhere in this or another of my threads. I'll dig it out, Bush Dr. taught me this a long time ago.

Hey Folks. Quick question. I have been told that vegging under T5's and then putting them under HPS at flip time on your table is counterproductive for the following reasons, which may make sense. Theory is that the plants will have a "growth stall" for about 7 to 10 days while the plants adjust to the HPS lamps. I may have experienced this when I took my plants out from under the T5's and placed them into their trays. I had 4 open spots so garnered some more clones 2 weeks later and put them directly under the HPS in the tables with the others that were in veg under the T5's. The 4 later clones definitely got at least 33% larger than their counterparts that were under the T5's, although their trichome production is still 2 weeks behind the others.

So what is your thoughts on this? I veg under T5's because of the cost of electricity here. Way cheaper that running Nanolux De's @ 1000W each for three to four weeks in veg.

Thanks in advance.

growth stall? are you sure? all the time I pass from cfl to hps the growth accelerates...not stall...do some more observation...and anyway i guess this thread is meant to talk about coco and coco watering and not about lights and light types...

Well thank you for your reply, even though the grow is in Coco. This is what I was told by a respected coco grower and was trying to get further info from those who know since I am new to Coco. But just the same, thanks for your input.

this is to Hundred Gram Oz and Bush Dr and whoever can contribute,
the problem is since I listened to advice and started watering multiple times a day , in my case three times a day because my pots are bigger(9 liter pots), I have noticed that 4 or 5 of my plants are beginning to have clawing leaves, no nute burns just clawing leaves which I think translates to too much nitrogen.
My feed water contains the exact amout of nute advised by the nute company that is: HESI..is clear I have to reduce the quantity of nutes ...but in your numerous experiences by how much? HALF respective of what is adviced by HESI? or a quarter?
thanks in advance...
