A few things that I've learned about growing in coco with a drip systm DTW

Chrono, I like the same thing...all cloudy with 10% amber(that way I know all of the trichs are cloudy)..I run all hybrid 8 week strains.

Start flushing right now, they will finish on time and taste better....the girls can easily make it 7 more days with straight water.

Whoo hoo its a go! Thanks bwana, I'd take em right now if I didn't know better. So psyched :)

We've hit 100 pages of excellent dialact between members & 285k views, it's really great to see everyone helping each other out to better their growing skills and to nail this coco growing down tight. I've had a hell of a time growing in coco and I feel that I have pushed the bounderies as far as they're going to go so I will be testing out 100% perlite pots for the next run, there's various reasons for me doing this, probably the biggest one being that I need supercharged root growth in the first 2 weeks (growing SOG). I'll be sure to keep growing coco though, I just want to give the perlite a shot to see if it can fit my requirements. I'll keep all you fine lads & lassies up to speed.

Best Vibez,

Sorry to bother but I believe I misinterpreted your response to my question. I'd like to finish with all milky trichomes as well, a few amber is good. They are 50/50 on the clear side now, its a 7-8 week strain and I'm right at 52 days. Should I wait or if I start the flush now I will hit my target in 7-10 days? My plan is to finish the 8 weeks, flush 7 days and see what I get. I know its guess work but I need a second guess. .... I guess.

Anyone else?

You'll be fine with your plan. I used to start lowering feed strength daily starting day 50 or so until I was feeding straight water by day 56 and then straight water until day 63-65 harvesting with all cloudy trichs.
Now, I just start with straight water at day 49-50 and harvest when they are finished...usually between day 65 and day 75. I don't really bother scoping trichs anymore. My eyes are too bad from staring at vertical bulbs. I just harvest new strains at different dates to determine when is the best harvest date, then after that date has been determined, I start my flush 2 weeks before that date in future grows. Hope that makes sense.

Yea it makes perfect sense. I really appreciate your help, niiiice Gbubs I've been seeing in the GB forum BTW!

Hgo, I'll be watching. I'm currently experimenting outdoors with 20 gallon coco dtw, multi feed, from a 5 gallon root bound core. If three gallons gets you a pound, then you know....

Waxy, DJM, thx.
Those roots were created from reading DJM thread. Bennies, wet/dry, dialed vpd indoors at first (I think that's huge). The initial pots were maybe a true 3/4 of a gallon, after being completely root bound, they went into those white 5 gallons and they rooted so fast it was scary. Then they got like that and went into 20 gallons, 2 weeks now they are rooted pretty well but not ready for more than 3 gallons 2x a day.

What do you guys do to avoid the ph of the reservoir to rise? It just naturally increase over time. At least with me.

They all rise or lower. You add ph up or down every couple days or so to keep in the coco range. AN makes the strongest ph up and down. You can use drops of that stuff instead of tsps of other brands.

Thanks stoned40yrs, but i was wondering if theres any technique to buffer it. I live far from my grow room and would be a pain in the ass to go there everyday see the pH.

^ using ro will strip the alkaline buffers that cause it to rise out of your water and will stay far more stable than tap

and do not add ph up to a rez unless its diluted in a gallon of water first

How much and how fast does it raise? My reserviors, now, stay more or less pretty constant. However, when I started, for whatever reason, my ph would rise over the week. I'd time it to where it would be set at 5.6-5.7 ec at the time I filled it and by the time it needed refilling, it would be 6.3ec. If it's not too crazy of an increase or too fast, you may not really have an issue.

When I was using citric acid ass a pH down, I had problems with the pH rising too quickly in my reservoir. Now I use phosphoric acid as pH down and my nutrient water has stayed much more stable.

I can say that is really fast, like from 5.7 to 6.5 in one day and if i let, it keeps raising. I never let it go over 7. I will try DJM advices and see what happens.

One more thing, has been showing up some seaweed in my water. Can it be an issue?

Better to speak with your local municipality if you are getting kelp bits floating out the tap.
