Booooooooo this man!

Terminal lugs need to be crimped with ratchet crimps, not some cheap wire strippers. The wires are lose inside the terminal lug and ater time will cause heat and oxidize. That flip box is a fire waiting to happen. I will post a few picsof how a flip box should be built and the internal layout of components.

Solid advice, but there's no need to be condescending prick while you give it :tiphat:

How a flip should be built. It is a pita to cut all the rectangle openings to mount the lampcord receptacles, it's easier to just use some compression fittings or cable glands.

If I mention this thread when inquiring about an order, do you offer a discount? J/k

flip boxes are pretty cheap, i got two 4/8 flipboxes for 275 each, shipped. last i checked the relays are 20-50 dollars depending.

I got about 20 of these quickflips, they retail for about $120 to $140, I will sell them for $100 each. I use better relays and lamp receptacles than the company selling them.

Hey amigo, i didn't read the whole thread, but I wanted to give you a heads-up on power: just cuz you have 300a service doesn't mean you can pull that much power from the transformer. Most transformers are either 15kva (you would fry it and possibly start a fire) or 55kva (about 40kw.). If you have any neighbors on the same transformer, you would blow that one up too. You gotta call the power company and tell them how many amps you are pulling, they will have to run mains and probably put in your own transformer, which you might have to pay for. If you don't, and cause a fire, the fire dept WILL. Find what caused it. Be safe!

Your electric bill must be enormous. I don't know the cost per kw/h in your area, but if I was doing that I'd be looking at $830/month just for the 28 lamps. I have no idea how I would justify that with the electric company. I actually power an inground swimming pool, hot tub, 2 central air condensors, plus all sorts of things like computers, tvs etc... mines at $250/mo
