Got some tulips coming up in the south facing landscape bed!
Got a little snow today, but the ground was wet so its almost all melted. Then it froze up with a little freezing rain. Been a little windy, up to 35 this morning.
Looks like weather will stay above average temperaturee for almost 2 weeks. Supposed to stay wet. Had a good rain yesterday.
twenties tonight. mild flurries to hint at chill factor. deranged cat does NOT want to go out this evening. she walks into kitchen, peeks out of door, and moseys her ass right back onto ottoman in living room...
We have been getting a freeze thaw almost every day. Had some frost in the ground but that's out. This makes the soil much easier to dig. I have a bunch of sod I need to move to make drainage channels. Might start working on that if the weather stays warmer. Got some landscape timbers for more pond bank terracing.
-18 f. on the front porch. NOAA has been considerably off in their predictions of our highs and lows the last couple of days. We're already well below the predicted low for tonight, and never reached our predicted high the last couple days..
But we've been skating for highs and lows for the last couple weeks before this, however,, compared to seasonal averages, and especially in light of the fact that they'd stated this was a rare third La Nina winter in a row.
So far not nearly the accumulation of snow or freezing rain we had last year, though reports from the lakes toward South Central Alaska indicate they're having more problems with overflow again as a result of snow load on those lakes, as well as the more moderate temperatures..
May end up restricting our access to 1 of the 2 remote lakes we annually fish in the Wrangell-St. Elias Range. We'll see
right around freezing in upstate new york with 1 inch of sloppy white stuff
been a very mild winter, the big lakes don't look like they're gonna freeze at all this year
Probably pretty tough to predict in AK since so close to the pole on top of La Nina climate pattern.
Still waiting on winter to kick in. Guess we're only a third of the way through. Everything catches up and balances out around here. Sunday there's a chance for 0-2 inches of snow.
Will be seeing a big push of moisture from Louisiana coming in next week. Going to be right on the line for rain/snow transition, so not sure yet, but may get a few inches according to weather underground!
After that weather drops off with a broken record winter forecast to mostly below average and frequent chances of snow! Our fall was colder than it was in January!
Pretty good batch of moisture hanging off the Pacific Northwest right now about to come inland. Vorocity Maximum will then slide across the southern plains, push in to Texas and create cyclogenesis. The system will then move north eastward into the midwest for a transition zone winter storm! Ice anyone?
Looks like mid week we will be going below freezing for the rest of the month and some snow. 4-5 inches in the ten day. If so first snow that requires removal this year.
