if a cola is multiple buds, then the one bud version can be a colita.

Nice colitas, scrub!

scrub, I don't have your issues with scrog, but I also mostly train above the screen with twist ties. There is always a spot.

Cheers mate. Thanks for the graphs and such. Based on the pics alone, doesn't seem like those bulbs are hurting your results that much. You could switch 'em out, but if it ain't broke...

Been awhile since I've grown in soil, but if you're not vegging them too long, 2L pots should be ok. I prefer larger (and deeper) ones if you've got the room. Just make sure they're not getting root bound or it will definitely affect yield. MJ likes a nice long tap root when it can get it, also. We'll have to turn you to the dark side one o' these days and get you started with a nice bubbler, no more re-potting due to root bound issues... :)

Hey that's a good point bro. I weaved it through - I'll tie in future.

Not sure if you meant that you weaved them over and under the screen, or just pushed them along until the next square. If you're actually weaving them like a basket, that's not the best for training, and you're pretty much locked in place after that, as you said. Easier to use twist ties on the underside to hold 'em in place if necessary, and re-adjust as needed.

Like so:

Got some tasty little nugs brewing there, Scrub.

Ain't growin' fun? :)

Long post is long

Long post is long

Thund, rock on  I was wondering what was up with the updates. I'm really hoping I get some vivid purple on the Leda Unos, I've never had a true purple plant, just little bits here and there.

SX, awesome dude! Thanks a lot, and I agree, the pics speak for themselves. A few pages back hilbie described me as tacit, and I had to look it up lol, but if I interpreted it correctly, he was very accurate. I know what I'm doing/aiming for, just hard to describe it without sounding like a dummy. :)

I've wanted to do dwc for sooo long, but there's always been power issues where I've lived. I get paranoid about how much I use, because I don't even see the bill here, my landlord gets it and pays it, but my house and his huge house/pool/tenants are on the same meter, so I have some breathing space hopefully. Once I get a proper living situation I'll be all over it. That's one reason why I've never hacked up my mini fridge for a grow cab - I would rather hack it up for a DWC chiller, haha.

I may even do a vertical c-scrog after all, so thanks for the links. I never remember to buy pots so I'm going to DIY them tonight. I've got these rectangular 3 litre milk bottles, and once I cut them up they'll be roughly 2.5 litres. Also got some 2 litre ones which would be around 1.5 litres cut down. Should be all potted up by tomorrow!

I just mixed up the soil now. Hope it's not too rich. I would've liked to mix it up earlier and let it rest but I really slept on this.

I used:

  • 9 litres of the not very rich, well drained potting mix I'm already using/made.
  • 10 litres coco
  • 9 litres Naked Farmer organic soil activator
  • 16 tbsp Dolomite
  • 21 tbsp Blood and Bone
  • 21 tbsp GreenBio (pdf)
  • a few handfuls shitty bagged compost
  • a few handfuls extra perlite

And I'm brewing up a bio-bugs tea now to water them in with :) Extra P and any other junk will be supplied when needed via teas. It is a lot of fun! Peace.

Edit: Almost missed a pic opportunity for my old scrog! The plants (2 Shiva Skunks) were indeed woven in and out of the screen - these first ones in order:

----------------------------------------------

It was nice smoke but the yield was nothing to wet the bed over :)

Edit: I'm just gonna buy pots tomorrow - too much work.

This was taken tonight :)

This is about when I'd start flushing after my first experience with The Pure. It's still kicking out pistils and seems to be growing happily so it'll be interesting to see what happens with continued nutes.

Also, this is messed up, but I'm almost certain that no seeds formed  The two sets of red hairs died off the next day after each pollination, but I'm suspecting the pollen was sterile. Can't say for certain until it's chopped up, but I haven't seen a single definite seed formed.

Hey scrubs.
I'm keeping a close watch with your grow. That plants looks sooooo nice, and I don't want to miss anything!! :)

About the scrog: I make some small clips. The easier the tie down is, less chance of damaging the plant in the work process.

Your old scrog pics look fine too. I used two cfl 125's for vegging a while ago, I find it difficult to achieve good coverage with them.
Thanks god we went for pl-l's eh?

Looking forward for more!

Scrub those plants look gorgeous! Good luck on the new run, your soil mix looks good and I hope it bears you much fruit :joint:

Are you worried about DWC and power consumption because of air pump use, or power outages?

this is handy for me. if you see a roll at the garden center, get one! I can make my twist ties as long or as short as I want and I don't know if I will ever run out.

wow looking super frosty scrub.

can you take any nice macros of the pollinated buds? Last time I made seeds I noticed pods splitting revealing yellowish-green seeds in less then a week...took them like another month to ripen and go brown though....I would guess that it's strain dependant to show splitting pods that early though, both parents had huge calyxes to begin with.

I have other strains with tiny calyxes and I could imagine it being harder to see the seeds forming.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya, only time will tell.

ScrubNinja, congratulations on your project. I've been away and have missed quite a bit, but I'm going to light one up for you now.

Tex, welcome back and thanks. I just got woken at 6:45am so I'm about to light one up too, lol.

Grow, I'm hoping to take it out of the box tonight so I suspect there'll be a lot of macros next update :) My pal said he tried making regular seeds with the Pure once and they were sterile but I thought naaaah, he just f*cked something up, or it was the male or something. Oh well, we're all kind of bored of The Pure now so I'll have fun trying other strains and I learnt a lot too! What made me realise was that I squeezed a lower bud that was fertilized and it had nothing.

Maryjohn, word, I like that idea. I use a green plastic coated wire for a lot of things, but it's like regular wire with a round finish but not as twisty. Looks similar to Pedro's pic.

Helis, thanks for checking it out :) My big pump ues more than a 23w lightbulb, lol, but that's not really the worry. I live in the tropics so running the chiller all day would be the main issue. I even have a great dehumidifier, but it's 200 watts so I learnt to live with humidity. I still toss around the idea of doing an OBBT when the time is right, as that's basically an organic dwc where root temps aren't much important.

Pedro, great idea man. Lovin' your whole grow! Yours will eclipse this once it picks up steam!

Thanks everybody, next update will be mega.

Sadly I gots nothing till late night when I can remove it from the cupboard, but my smart pots finally turned up, just after I'd given up on them. It's a shame I don't have a use for them at the moment. But I'll order a ton of the smaller ones for a future sog. I'll call it the Dr Scrub method :smoke:

picture.php

I also got a prefilter made up for the tent.

EDIT: If you're thinking of buying smart pots, you should know that they come delivered with HIGH CALIPER GROWING plastered on it. Fabulous... :chin: And they also took forever to arrive. Not real impressed so far.

Haha, sorry dude. :D

Well, I started using my laptop today so I took the pics but I can't edit/resize and all my system is different, so I'll get them up tomorrow morning. I'm pooped! Barely had time for a cone all day. Got them repotted into 140mm round pots, I think they're 1.6 to 1.8 litres.

My friend put me onto some really good shit, so I had to buy some, but it only comes in 35kg bags, lol. It stiiiinks! Chicken shit products like Dynamic Lifter already stink terribly, but this is 100% increase in stink. I added a very small amount to my soil mix that I potted into. Variety is the spice of life.

Thanks Cheese, you've been a great contributor all through this grow, and the previous one :) I look forward to see how it turns out! Basscadet's micro grow in his computer inspired me with the whole screenless scrog thing, it was so beatiful and level. The tent pegs made/make it so easy to keep the branches level.

Well I got my progz on so we're good to go with the pics  Day 60

After all that, a couple of shots are repeat buds, but it's all good. Second from the bottom you can see my fingers holding the base for a sense of scale. First and last pic are from a distance with the flash, the rest are using a 23w daylight cfl. I took a look and had a think when it was out, I reckon I'll get just under 4 z's at this stage.

Here are the TWxPDs at day 18 above ground, right after repotting. I semi air potted the pots. Not expecting much root pruning going on but it helps so much with drainage.
