Going back a little. I was right about Kinzinger being the closer on trump. He was an excellent choice and he did what they wanted him to do very well. He eviscerated trump and todays Republican party.

This is all show but it changes the minds of many. The Democrats are light years ahead of the current Republican party as far as optics are concerned. trump got no bump from his convention but Harris is going to get a big one.

All the real talent has left the Republican party. It's now just a cult worshipping one man with no direction other than the whim of a deranged lunatic.

Yes it does but there are too many microphoned shysters spewing too much shit backed with theatrics that people believe.
That's where a less-than-lazy public, dedicated to the civic duties they inherited when they turned 18 (or whatever age of majority) comes in.

At the same time, there's enough repeated evidence of shallow, empty propaganda running on the mainstream airwaves anymore, especially via lies by omission, projection, half-truths, outright fabrications, etc., etc., that there -has- to be the open playing field for people to work at -honest- reporting wherein there's no forced capitulation or compliance with corporate or nationalist coercion or leveraging.

There was internal upheaval reported at some of the mainstream outlets that were seeing their work first have to be reviewed by a media entity in Israel before their reporting on Gaza could see print..

How much bullshit hit the newsstands appearing as legitimate stories from reputable sources before that came to the surface? And most of them continued publishing their propaganda pieces anyway.

You remember the -ONE- primary news source, big league player, really, that didn't buy into GW's cultivated supposed intel, all mostly lies and bullshit about WMDs in Iraq? Do you remember the shitstorm they suffered for yelling, "Hold the bus!!" and allegations of treachery and being traitors to their Country in that?

And those lies, created by GW's own team of 'intel experts' (because he wasn't hearing what he wanted to hear from the accepted -responsible- intel sources) killed about 1 million Iraqis and not a single motherfucker went to prison or the gallows. GW and his entire cabinet ought to be in Leavenworth or the Hague as we type here tonight. (*Or in the cold ground).

That was accepted mainstream media that assisted that shitstorm, in the name of God and County, nationalist fascism wrapped in a flag and played out upon the world by the pip-squeak moron coke head who couldn't string a proper sentence together, even with a receiver in his ear and a teleprompter.... GW. There ought to be enforcers hunting that SOB today.

Accepted mainstream, recognized media, like 'embedded' Judith Miller at the NYT facilitated that illegal bloodbath.

**If people look even a little bit closely, there's a long-running pattern to this, the People being played, and doing the murdering for the people, corporatists and oligarchs, that should never have been in power in the first place. Or, as a number of 'Nam vets said, "we're killing the wrong people."

Harris had the chance. She chose too spend a significant amount of her speech about trump. I think she should have ignored him.

At least it was in the middle. I wonder how animated the strategy sessions got. Harris likely had the last word and overruled Plouffe and inserted her trump language into the speech.

I'm sur she felt it was the right thing to do but she should have left that stuff out. Kinzinger had already eviscerated trump. She could have shined by not even bringing trump up. I don't think it lost her any votes but it wasn't the best look. Let the other guys do the dirty work.

If you watch this shit closely for enough decades, and if you have any soul at all, it becomes very easy to understand MLK's comments on death or departure, when he said, "Free at last, free at last! Oh, thank God, I'm free at last!!"

While desirable in many ways, that is not an actual credible news headline at this time.

Despite another's attempts at provocation, like the adolescent they are, accompanied by a pretense at density and trying to identify me with Hempy, the headlines I posted links to earlier are, in fact, from recognized journalists and a well-known, respected publication(s), dealing in facts. Whether comfortable for the team jersey subscribers and addicts or not.
of course, i was being facetious!

here's an interesting analysis from chris cuomo, formerly of cnn and now with news nation.

he talks about voter registration and shows that more and more americans are becoming fed up with the two party system.

82% of new registrations are listing themselves as independents.

let's get rid of trump first and then work on a multi-party system.

You're all running on emotion. Emotion doesn't win elections. Money, optics, and message does in that order.

Harris has the money and optics advantage. She's struggling with message but that doesn't matter since the Maga Republican message is unpalatable to most Americans. All she has to do is say nothing and she wins.

Most people are wise to trump. He's not fooling anyone with his plans to fleece everyone to give a payday to the most wealthy. He's transparent without even trying. His policies favor the top 1%. That's not even disputable.

What's so disconcerting is the number of people that are willing to sacrifice for this clown because they actually share the racist and misogynist ideology he espouses.

The largest voter (aggregate/combined) group in Alaska is comprised of Undeclared, Non-partisan, and or Independent. But they frequently vote R and it's a Trump state by significant margins.

The last Borough election (2023), I believe 20% of voters turned out. Faith in a clearly fractured, malfunctioning system(s)?

And in this State, property taxes locally are the secondary or tertiary ranking for source of revenues for operating, after oil and massive federal subsidies, though I'm not certain if more revenue comes from our State's 'federal welfare check'. Additionally, local elected officials decide how all that money is spent.

In other words, the localities, be they city or borough, levee serious property tax bills, and determine how, and how much of, those serious sums are spent. And the turn-out of our local Borough voters here where I am was about 20%, though you might want to confirm those numbers.

With serious jing on the table, what might keep 80% of voters from participating? My guess is that it doesn't involve a sense of faith and trust in the system, or heightened sense of civic duty.

"You're all running on emotion" please don't make assumptions. i, for one, am not running on emotion. although i'm happy about the prospect of trump being eliminated from the scene.

i think that is the first order of business. then i would really like to see at least a third party emerge.

i don't care for him as a person either. but, he does present some interesting facts about voter registration.

we're seeing a shift away from both parties towards a more moderate centrist position. it's about time!

i don't care for either party right now. i'm involved on an active level just because i think trump represents an existential threat to the idea of democracy.

i did get a kick out of observing the differences in the two party's conventions. the democrat convention was like a celebration of life and the republican convention was more like a funeral.

the combined polls averaged from 538 show harris picked up a whole percentage point during the convention.

rfk jr is dropping out and endorsing trump this week. he's selling his soul for a cabinet level position that he thinks he will get but i bet trump won't give him one if elected.

it will be interesting to see the effect on the polls as rfk's base realigns with either party or not at all.

as you can see trump's numbers are flatlining while harris's are trending upward as she picks up independents and undecided voters.
