Hey Foothill, just a thought. Take all those male flowers out of the jars because if there is any moisture in them it will sterilize the pollen. I use tweezers to pull out the male flowers and wipe the tweezers with damp cloth, then a dry one after I finish each strain so I don't cross contaminate pollen.

Last outdoor season I left the flowers in my pollen, but it didn't ruin any from the moisture... But, while collecting pollen for my spring crop I left some moist flowers in and the pollen turned almost paste-like, totally unusable.

Just be careful because it sucks when you loose all that time collecting pollen due to a few moist male flowers. Then you might not get the f2's and f1 crosses hope for.

Your garden is killing it by the way!

You know, I am not the best when it comes to techniques in my seed harvesting game. I actually had the same thought, about moisture in the pollen pods. I knew I should have pulled those. I hope I didn't mess anything up. The only thing in danger would be the AOG f2's, the Cindy pollen was harvested that day.

I will get the tweezers out, thanks for the help. :tiphat:

ok now you are talking afgooey x which OG? Either way 15?? Maaaaaan.....

Ancient og:

Bodhi Seeds - Ancient OG
The fourth installment in the og synthesis series, a heavy duty true og dominant hybrid, that takes things to the next level. Based on an old Iranian landrace from the 70's that may be the mother of all og's wed to the snow lotus male. Deep earthy forest og aromas, with creamy citrus kush undertones, like goji og without the berry and added lemon pledge.

Larger yield than the goji but with the same growth habits, extreme frost, supportive structure, great for sog, or top for a larger productive bush. makes a great breeding partner or take it to f2 to dig for pure iranian phenos, or purple snow lotus phenos... Highs range between more narcotic snow lotus phenos, to full spectrum wrap around og kush effects.. this is a very special line...

Genetics: iranian landrace x snow lotus
Flowering Time: medium
Height: Medium
Characteristics: primordial og wands

So the afgooey pheno comes from the Snow Lotus cross.

I had my brother from another mother over yesterday with his girl. It's been maybe 4 years, but when I first visited his garden I was so impressed how he had 20 different strains, all growth to their genetic potential. (for the most part, always room to improve) Every flower he gave me was always very well grown, and a great representation of the strain. It was like I was walking into perfection.

Anyways, he is the guy I go to if I need advice or motivation. He was saying I should have a garden full of 10# plants come harvest. I would crap my pants if that is true, but here is to hope.

GoldCountryGuy, you da man.:tiphat:

FWIW I let my male get bone dry after quitting watering and I ran all the flowers through a big as grinder that I thoroughly cleaned. Then I just collected the pollen at the bottom like it was keif.

This was my first time collecting pollen though and I haven't done it since. This way just made sense to me so I ran with it. :2cents:

I also let the plant dry out. So I don't think much moisture is in the seed pods, but some for sure.

Thanks for more pollen/seed harvesting advice. Anybody else have some tips?

That looks good Foothill! Keep the pollen dry, in the dark and a cool location. I have 12 males I'm collection pollen from on a daily basis. I do have an Ancient f1 male which I'll be dusting a bunch of strains with, including Ancient f2's, SSH X Ancient, Synergy X Ancient, GDP X Ancient and Corleone Kush X Ancient (crosses I made last year). It's fun to try out new crosses and the Ancient is a good breeding partner. Good times!

Synergy x Ancient, SSH x Ancient catches my eye big time! All those sound great, happy hunting.

KQR. The light was from behind so this isn't the best picture. This plant is huge, and I have big hopes for quality as well. So far, I am in love with this plant. Lets see how she finishes. Hard to get a good picture, makes the plant look much smaller IMO.

I wouldn't worry about the purple petiole; KQR is a Cinderella 99 descendent--a line known for displaying this trait when healthy.

yah i've noticed that purple petioles seem to be a genetic thing. but purple stalks (sorry idk the scientific name) only happen with stress

light dep looks great FF, those leaves are really praying!

Shc,

What do you see in that picture with the purple petiole? Given the zinc deficiency to the upper right, I think this variety needs more P and Zn. Love to see the soil and leaf analysis on her....

Sorry for the confusion, that particular plant was Helen Back, which is an Animal Cookie cross. The KQR is right below that picture. However SlowNickel is right, I am very concerned. He is right on the ball, low Zn and low K in my soil. My P is quite high in excess. I thought purple stems was more of a K thing......not P? I posted the soil results a little while back along with tissue and paste. The gator mix is the majority of the plants pictured.

You cannot get P uptake if you have low Zn.

yea, I have been trying to get the Zn in with foliar for sure. I have also been drenching the soil, however I am paranoid of over dose on applications of Zn, Mn, Cu, Fe, Moly. I think the lack of Cu is also causing some super early, and unheard of for me, powdery mildew on the SSDD in the large greenhouse. I was feeding MicroPak from AEA, but my boron levels are close to excess. So I have been using some products I have never used before and I always start light and work my way up. However, the purple stocks tell me I got to bump up my regimen.

Really looks like what I imagine Eden should look like.... except for the deficiencies...:moon:
BURN!!!

Thanks brother. We all know in the Garden of Eden the snake wasn't talking about an apple right....... (total joke, no offence meant)

I am getting stoked about the engineering. Is that structure electrical conduit?

1" 9/16 tube steal. You are talking about the greenhouses right? I will soon post up some greenhouse specs I have been working on with ClearSpan. Bad ass A1000 full auto 10,000 sq ft greenhouse.......In a perfect world. Long way to go.
