Hey Bulenath...glad school is going so well for ya man. and I hear ya on the education front..ha ha...older I get and the more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know.

as for the pheno I'm looking for....ha...both of course. But I have 2 phenos of the LUI so I'm doin pretty good so far on the indica front. (one pheno is sativa heavy but still puts ya in the couch) I'm really hopin to get some nice sativas goin. The LUI is a great evening smoke but a bit heavy on the motor functions through the day...lol

Great to hear from ya buddy. Good luck with your last month of school.

Hey bulenath so happy to see the update and that you found a keeper out of the three phenos. I am a very proud and happy closet hack breeder to hear this, and I have to thank you for growing them so expertly.

The buds looks nice and chunky. I hope the smoke meets with your approval.

That is crazy that the indica pheno is ending up going the longest of them all - just goes to show you that looks can be decieving.

glad to hear that life and school are going well too.

Sugabear this one is for you!

Sorry I been away for a few weeks.

Turns out that the alleged stativa pheno #2, the same one that was finishing first, is the best producer yet! She is a perfect hybrid with the most dominant Indica traits of all OB1 seeds recieved. Although she was more "branchy" and streched more than the alleged Indica Pheno, her nugs are rock solid and quickest to harvest. In onther words, this pheno really is the Indica Pheno I been waiting for!

I harvested her on day 71 flower, after a 1 week flush. She has the dankest, rock solid, nicest-strcutured flowers I have ever grown. She is the one of the best smokes I ever had.
For this reason she will be replacing my old, 270+ day mother of the Nuclear Cloud sister Pheno, the C-Dub strain. She will be the sole plant that I hope to grow from now on. She is my golden cup of Canabis and a hybrid of your expertise.
Here is the story you have been waiting for...

On March 31st I harvested this Pheno #2 of Sugabear's OB1 hybrid:

12007DCP_1724.JPG

12007DCP_1726.JPG

And at day one cure (April 5th). It dried the fasted of all weed I ever dried, which is wierd because it is the most dense weed I ever harvested.
She Yeilded 38-40 grams for a single 1 gallon pot! The weed is so dank, that on day 5 of being dried, full on stoner/ weed-seller paid $240 for a half oz without any cure. It is THATgood of a smoke. Fucking potent shit mang. (p.s. im not a dealer, Im just a poor car-less student who cant refuse a good deal)

12007OB1_Cureing_stativa_2_the_Indica_really_DAY_1.JPG

Then on April 4th, Stativa pheno #1 turned out to be more Indica like the above Pheno, but she took a little longer, and is starting to dry/cure into an almost indentical product of the above pheno.

12007DCP_1734.JPG

12007DCP_1736.JPG

Here are my three OB1 clones that still vegging under my 150HPS.
The brown pot has my Golden Pheno, and the other two is the above Pheno, which I dont plant to save. (I have enough room for one mom only)

And the eldest OB1 clones at day 36 Veg.
One is the last and final pheno that I dont plan on saving (which is the allegeed Indica pheno that wasn't branchy, yet turned out to have stativa like buds, and is still flowering!).
The other is going to be the new mom!!

Here is the alleged Indica Pheno that was not "branchy" and had a very Indica structure. Yet, her flowers remain fluffly to the touch, and it seems she will not produce much at all. Here she is at day 71, about ten days ago.

Here is the 237 day old mother plant that I have been holding on to. She is the C-Dub strain and will be flowered soon so I can use her pot for the OB1 Pheno I plan to keep.

And her product cured at 3-4 weeks old.

LOL - i replied before I saw this post - and now I am blushing to hear your kind words calling this strain the "golden cup" of cannabis - I am very glad I could share this with you.

I do have to say seeing the prechop pictures that it looks very much burmese dominant to me - but with some traits of the oregon90 mom too - I truly looks like you've got the best of both worlds in that pheno and I won't be suprised if she finishes at 9 weeks from clone. $240 for a half oz - and the guy was happy - well that is the true test - what will the market bear ;)

It's funny to me a friend of mine was selling mass superskunk for $50 for 2.5 grams no discounts - and I mean the stuff is good but I know that the burmese or the ob1 blows it outta the water... he's got clones now of the burmese and the trainwreck... I'm sure he's gonna have them pounding down the doors for that stuff at any price :D

so here we go - why not show a picture of OB1's - (edit:I said mom, but actually this would be the sister in law, a female burmese - or well a clone of her, somewhere midway through flower ( I expect she'll be done around end of month)

Well, I've decided to take a pro-active roll in the prevention of Spider Mites this time around. I figured I'd go the Predatory Insect route. I just hope I havn't overdone it too early in the grow cycle....

Lost but now I'm found

Lost but now I'm found

Hey Now,
I've been looking in the wrong catagories I guess. I love IC but been in the industrial forums. Great to see all these great pics from personal grows.
The low tech method of growing is what had me hooked on Overgrow. Glad I found you all. Jah guide & and keep your room clean.

Big Mahalo Southpaw.

Sugar, those are some frosty nugs. What brand of camera do you have? I've been wanting to get a decent camera for awhile now. Does it require a special lens for those macro shots?

Pipe...I like the scare crow. Let us know if it works.lol How are those new lights working for you? BTW...damn impressive Sativas you got in that cab. Any particular strain your particular to? The bulk of my growing experience is outdoors and "Swazi" gifted to me through a former OG member became my all time favorite outdoor strain. Between green harvest and the pig hunters, I slowly had to move indoors.

Bulenath...sup cuz. Maui, Big Island, Oahu? Hittin the books at UH? I graduated from UH...twice.lol Study hard hawaiian! Once you have an education no one can take it away from you.

General question for all you 150 lovers...in general (I know this is difficult due to strain differences) what is the average flower time in your small cabs? For example, say a seed vendor suggests that an 8 week flower time is sufficient for a 50/50 Indica to Sat strain. What I suspect is they come to this figure based on the commercial growers who are using warehouses and not us simple folk. I guess what I'm asking is have you discovered that you need more time to reach full maturity with such a small light?

I use a cannon a410, it was relatively inexpensive at around $110 USD. It has a super macro mode, you really need a tripod but no special lense is needed. The a410 is out of production but the new one in the low price range by cannon is pretty much the same and a great camera for the money IMO.

No the wattage seems to have no effect in my experience - however I find most breeders quote times that are short in general - most 8 week 50/50 strains take 9 weeks in my experience to be good an done - maybe a commercial cropper could pull them at 8, and I am sure some do.

I've found this under a 150 as well as a 400. Now I have heard that a 600 watter being the most efficient will produce the shortest flower time, but I have trouble believing a whole week is gained.

I'm exactly with Suga on this one and have spent the last 2 weeks researching this topic to the best of my ability. Seems the times are off by about a week but could be clipped as early as the times they advertise. I'm finding the times to be off by as much as 2 weeks if you are going for as many amber trichs as possible.

Hope I helped....cause like it's been said...good question and I found it tough to get an answer on that one too.

Peace

After more years of growing than I care to admit, I know for a fact that sellers "Quoted Times" for Indoor Strains can be taken with a grain of salt. You'll always have to add a week or two. I'm also a firm believer that the size of the lamp has little if anything to do with altering their cycle times. Because I primarily use my harvest as pain medication, I tend to go for a bit longer than most. I'm looking for a more narcotic effect. I've also found that the old method of doing an early flush is still the best way to force them to finish a bit ahead of schedule.

And yes, it is both fun and a challange growing full Sativas in a cabinet. I've been growing the same strain for mucho many years. It is a true 100% Jamaican Sativa. I bring the seeds back myself from the island every few years while on vacation. It's known locally there by the name "Satta Nash". Literally translated it means something like: to sit and contenplate on a womens private parts. Probably where it got its name, because with the heavy couch-lock high it has, there's little else you can do.

(EDIT: Forgot to mention that this one takes well in excess of 100 days)

Sugar, thanks for the info on the camera. Had to get approval from the boss (the wife) to get a new one this weekend.

Bonzai G, thank's for doing the research. Good to know the light has a negligible effect on (wattage vs. time vs. maturity). So what's your opinion experience with supplemental lighting in a small space? To cfl or not cfl...that is the question? I know just about everyone here is using them in one form or another but then I look at MJ's cab and go hummm. Pipe's got a bigger cab plus the fact that he's growing those stretchy sats. Justifies there use in this situation but what about the small cab/indica growers. CFL's = more trich development?

Pipe, "Satta Nash"...like the name and meaning.lol Funny though as I sit and contemplate womens private parts all the time.hahaha (psst...don't tell the wife o.k.). Narcotic high huh...BTW, how's the back healing up. You had a lumbar laminectomy/spinal fusion? Takes time but keep moving. Swimming is real good rehab for back and joint injuries. Easy to say but get off the Vocodin, Percoset, and especially the Oxy's. I've seen some jaw dropping tolerance to mega milligrams in some patients I've cared for. Just plain bad stuff and so easy to get addicted to when your living with chronic pain. Sorry, don't mean to preach.
100 days plus a 3-4 week veg? Now that's patience!

hello, 150'ers !

my current grow (nigerian nightmare, 7 weeks into flower) doesnt seem to be frosting up as much as previous grows of the same strain. i am thinking it's because the 150hps isnt putting out quite as much light as it did when new . in fact, as early as my second grow with this light i thought i noticed reduced light output. are you people changing bulbs every few grows ? also, i would love to buy some replacement bulbs from e-conolight.com, since they are by far the lowest price, but i am not sure whether they ship to canada ... the order page only accepts states, not provinces. any canadians here that have managed to order from them ? i know i can get them locally from home depot etc., but they want almost 30.00 each . e-conolight is 5.98 or so.

Green Grow.Lamps are the one thing I suggest not looking for the cheapest solution. In fact, it's the one thing I suggest spending your lunch money on. $30 each is the street cost of 3 grams....are you willing to sacrifice 3 grams for up to a 10% increase in yields? or more depending on how bad your lamp is? Even spending more on something high end from the hydro store is worth it in my opinion.

my .02
Peace
