150w HPS Club and Resource Guide......

Hey 150 guys. I'm halfway there in that I bought the 150 but my friend is growing the plants because my situation is an unsafe one.
We recently found out we have four different girls out of power plant, strawberry cough, mp5k and lowryder x kush. We have LST'd the power plant and mp5k, and set up a scrog just above them in the 2nd week of flowering. The lowryder x kush is a midget compared to the others but they all seem to be skyrocketing upwards in flowering. We got some 10-30-20 nutes to mix in every other day and are hoping for decent yields with the 150 with a few supplemental cfls. We also hope to maximize yields with our screen
I'd post some pictures, but my friend isn't too keen on having his setup on the net.
some good looking crops around here.

is that from the econolight 150??

im using mine as is, gets a little hot though

Yes it is. It was too heavy to use as is, but it was very easy to rip apart and make the balast remote. Electrical tape and 2 extra wire nuts, and an old extention cord were all I used.

vintner - What I think is: I bet it will grow some pot!

Two things you may want to consider: First, I hope you used a heavy-duty extension cord and extended the ground to the reflector. And second, the backing material for your reflector should not be plastic or other easily flammable material. That will be the hottest area of your box.

Thanks Pipedream, and lots of it LOL. And yes, I took care of those things.

Update: Harvested the last cabfull (Ice) on April 6th. All 8 clones took, gave one to a friend with 7 remaining to veg for awhile. 2 White Widow LST'd in the left side are nice and bushy under those two CFL's...no sex as of yet.

Currently in the flower chamber: 2 Ice (moms), 1 Aurora Indica and 1 Big Bud...all ladies and LST'd. Day 5 of 12/12. Decided to do the soil thing one last time before summer gets here and then start the hydro setup in October when the ambient temps start to cool again. I've got 3 Jars of goodness and some nice bubble to last me well through the summer.

The Ice clones and the 2 WW's (if female) will be going on a hike soon to a secluded outdoor growspot that hasn't been used for a few years. Maybe they'll make it to maturity before harvest, maybe they'll get ripped, maybe they'll be devoured by bugs? I won't be caring for them much once they go in the ground other than an occasional fert watering so whatever happens, happens. I guess you could call it "tough love". lol

I thought this was a cool pic from last cycle:

rkrone...I've tried them but they tend to create increased heat (metal) and direct heat towards the plant tops. This setup has worked very well.

It seems that I always start my seeds either in my basement or the garage. The problem is, during alot of the year, its cold in both places. Even too cold for small sprouts. So here's my answer.

My new Germination and Sprouting Warmer. You can always find these things in garage & rumage sales for just a dollar or two. The issue with them is, they generally run at about 170 to 190 degrees F. Easy enough to fix though. The addition of a cheap light dimmer and a utility box and we're good-to-go. Temps can now be set anywhere you want them. All you'll need is a decent thermometer to know what they are. I've already marked the 80 degree point on the face of my box, and will likely add a few more points as well. If this is of interest to you, keep this one thing in mind. The set-up has no thermostat associated with it, you are just limiting current flow. As such, the temp will swing a few degrees as the ambient temps in your room go up and down. But hell, they do that in nature all the time.
