Bulénath those are some beautiful looking purple flowers - I like how neat and clean the tv stand is - looks to be performing well.

And the OB1s look nice too - what are we around week 4 of 12/12? How's the smell? the indie pheno stunk pretty strongly for me but the sativa pheno took a while to develop it's odor.

gzzmo
- I trim my plants through out the flowering phase removing fan leaves to allow light to hit bud sites. I follow the big fat j rule of pruning - "if it's below the screen it's gotta go, if it's a leaf above the screen and it's shading a bud site, well it's gotta go too"

plants do fine with pruning throughout the flower phase in my experience.

As for trimming whole branches to thin out the canopy to the desired density of bud sites I do that up to week 3 - these also make an excellent source for cuttings. Sometimes I stick them in a glass of water and leave them for a few weeks before rooting - keeps the plant numbers down.

20 branches for your screen sounds good. Stadium is to help keep the branches from shading eachother. If you look above at my ICE scrog you can see the bigger cola is in the back furthest from the bulb and smaller lower branches are trained to the front of the screen under the bulb - this way the whole canopy is within 5-6" from the bulb - if I kept the back branches flat and didn't let them grow up through the screen then they'd be much further from the bulb.

Hello 150W growers.
After 3 seasons of growing outdoor I finally want to start my first indoor. I already have some indoor seeds (White Russian x Afghani, Sensi Skunk x Johny Blaze, White Widow, Northern Lights). I also have already 2 HPS: 100 and 150 W. I have 2 PC fans, mayby I'll buy any more affective soon.

I just want to ask you (who will know it better then you 150W growers?) if my box is high enough for to put in 150 W HPS. My growbox is only 73 cm high (28,75"). It is 71 cm 28") wide and 53 cm (20") deep.
I need your advice.

Not a bad deal Red but you could build better....I know you to be handy so check Rona maybe or if you have a Princess Auto near you check there as well. You'll have a local electrical supplier for all the contractors...you should be able to just walk in there and ask for a 150w HPS Security Light. Ask for the wall mount version if you go that rout that way you aren't buying even more metal to throw in the dump after you remote ballast it and build your own reflector. ... I bought mine from Princess Auto for 60 bucks and then all the little bits to remote ballast it was another 30......here..pic is a 1000 words.

If she doesn't find ya handsome...build her one of these.

PM me if ya want some more ideas Red...peace

here's my cab - inside is 29" wide by 29" high by 15" deep - 'bought the same as yours

Put the ballast outside and be prepared to scrog and you'll do fine in there with the 150!

sounds like you have enough space in there for both lights, but i would build it up and test to see how much heat you have to remove as you might need more fans or more powerful ones.

i have 2 80mm pc fans @ 7.5v and they only just cope with a 70w hps, but i do have the ballast in there too.

try 92mm fans, i think 4 should be enough.

p.s.

congrads darren!

chronic50s - what is your soil mix? looks kinda heavy - maybe too wet? try putting the fan blowing across the tops of the seedlings - they will love a gentle breeze and get stronger stems in the process.

and thanks mysticls - she's really small but this stuff is real heady I had to grow her out - that's the top cola - it's pretty much a single cola 8" long with a few smaller lower side branches. maybe yield a 1/4oz LOL that's not why I'm growin her though

what is this lasko fan you all speak of?

Hey Suga!

My mix is 78-82% sphagnum peat moss, 18-22% perlite, 1% lime, and 0.5% wetting agent

I also added a little Cow manure compost (not alot i assure you that)

Heres a few pics of the bag:

And the plants:

10833my_cab032-med.JPG

...And as for the fan blowing on the plants, I got two small fans blowin right on them

Sorry for the bad pics...all i got is a crappy digi cam....it works tho.

And I been sprayin them with a seaweed foilar spray about once a day.......and also put some seaweed on top of the soil as a top-dressing

Any thoughts?

Yeah it could be that.....but my plants are 8-9 inches away from the cooltube glass, so they should be getting quite a bit of light at that distance........but the only flouros i got is a 4ft 2-tube fixture.....will that be sufficient until they're ready to go into the cab with the 150w hps?

The Lasko "squirrel cage" blower, takes in air from the sides, allowing it to be placed flush against any wall. The blower head is adjustable in a vertical direction. An added plus -- its design is extremely quiet, making it perfect for the office environment.

Somebody supposedly called the manufacturer and said it pushes about 300-400 cfm........

It does move quite alot of air too

Chronic - I would leave them alone with the sprays and top dressing - they don't need so much nutrients.

Your mix could be lighter, i.e. more perlite - this provides better air to the roots. It also helps to prevent over watering. The mix you have is pretty heavy and will hold alotta moisture. Roots starve for oxygen and lower leaves start hurting.

Knowing more about what is going on now I would say you're over feeding and over watering (because the mix is too heavy). PH could also be outta wack but the lime should help a bit.

Just let them chill. Wait till the cups feel really light and then water, with ph adjusted water till you see 10% or more run-off. Then wait again until they feel light and water.

With the mix you have and the manure you added there is already more than enough nutrient in there.

edit: p.s. thanks for posting up the picture of the lasko - so those were available during the summer at hardware stores? I'd like to get one. I also like the little metal fans for air movement - you can mount them on the wall pretty easy too.

Wow BG thats some nice bodging!!! Where didja get that hurricane lamp from?

I picked up a security light from Rona Home Hardware for $125. They were selling 70W hps lights for $102. That's the best cash and carry deal around. I have to find a remote box and will use Sugabear's guide to jumper out the photo cell.

Thanks for your help, Kevvie (Red Greenery)

you have alot of plants 20+, so it might be hard to get them all under those floros? if you can get them all under it, 2 or 3 inches away then go for it! you can keep the hps in there if you want and you can add CFL's as well.

veging plants grow better, stretch less and have tighter nodes under floros, next time u start seeds, give them floro lights before they sprout and see the difference for yourself :)
