red : i take it back; your grow box is so outrageous that a casual observer would never guess that a ganja plant was growing in there . perhaps it5 could be explained away as a home-made air filtration unit . stealthy ? you bet ![/QUOTE]

thats what i told my uncle when he saw it. home made air freshner...my wife has bad asma (sp?) and he bought it :)

Pipedream - The temps don't seem to be too bad since I placed the ballast on the outside of the box. They were about 5 to 8 degrees higher in the flower and mother sections. But I'm definitely going to replace the bath fan with a "proper" fan. I was thinking a 172 CFM Vortex Centrifugal Fan. Do you think i could go higher? I'm afraid the higher CFM fans will dry out the water in the potting soil faster, leaving the fertilizers and raise the ph. The grow box is in the basement and the room temp is usually between 70F (winter) - 75F (summer). Here some pix of the temps.

What temp range should I shoot for?

P.S.
What are the temps in other grows?

Heero007 - shoot for highs not much over 80 and lows not much below 60. My grow ranges from 75 high and 60 lows - but the house is kept at 68 in summer and 65 in winter (or lower).

Some strains take well to higher temps like the jamacian sativa's pipedream favors. Indicas prefer cooler climates. But remember cannabis grows outdoors in places where temps can be from 40 - 100+ with out issue....

Higher temps will lead to airier buds however. Also when combined with low humidity transpiration will also be increased.

Hey fellas,

This chart was available on the old OG site for sizing fan airflow to light wattage.

I've found it to be accurate for both CFL and HPS systems. I'm running a 38CFM fan unrestricted and 15CFM through my scrubber that I measured the time it takes to fill with a large garbage bag. I'm getting around a 10 degree F increase with about 50 CFM which agrees with the chart.

I also did a trial with just the 150 W HPS and a 38 CFM fan with no cooltube and the intakes 4x the exhaust and it ran about 12F above room temp.

You can use this as a diagnostic tool to check out your growbox. Just measure your growbox temperature and use the chart find out what the actual airflow is for your wattage lights.

Hey everybody. I am thinking about doing a grow box similar in design to Heero007. My goal is to grow 2-4 ounces/harvest (closer to 4) so I was thinking about throwing in a 400 watt HPS and typically use a SCROG. Would you recommend using a carbon filter or getting a vaportek 4000 to cover odors?

As i said before I just build my little growbox. My wife painted it in red colour so I will call it RedBox. Not all is finished but I plan to do rest today and tomorrow.
My RedBox is 73 cm high (28,75"). It is 71 cm 28") wide and 53 cm (20") deep
I have 150 W HPS. I instaled 80m3/h fun. Next days I will install a glass on the shelf under HPS.
I plan to grow 2 White Russian x Afghani plants. LST them low and get some nice weed for summer hollidays. My main grow is outdoor and this is my first adventure with indoor.
Any coments? suggestions?
Greetings from Poland

Grunwald - I love the redbox - very sweet setup - nice and clean and just about the right dimensions IMHO. The only thing I see missing is a carbon filter which you will need for odor control when flower is in full swing. Check the DIY link o-rama for some DIY ideas. Good to see some folks from Poland back in the club!

Q_bal_1 - thanks for the pictures, they sure came out nice - big fat long baseball bats you got there! I bet they give a good wacking :bat: - can't wait to hear the smoke report - skunk special looks like a big yielder from here!

I'll have to check out your video tonight.

I love having you guys in the club giving the Canadain 150 view point!

I'm actually really feeling like the 150 club is just so alive with growers from all over the world now all sharing in our experiences with this wattage - It truly is awesome!

So here's some pictures from my 150 cabinet

Ice is the big bushy biatch and the lone blue thunder on the left.

about 7.5 weeks out of 9 or so into flower - switched to flush.

good growing and good luck to everyone!

Hey xctoke you should check out the 400 club for more info on odor control for a 400 grow. I recommend carbon though.

Oh and a 150 can produce the 2-4 ounces / harvest you're looking for. A 400 should produce 8 ounces per harvest.

Thanks for the nice welcome, Suga. Nice to be here and always glad to add my perspective, if asked for.

This is some Chimera California Orange X NL#5 I grew a while back under 150 hps in my magic box:

Unfortunately I had to cut them early because we were moving but they got to like 53 days or so and were just coming into their own....

I intend to get this box going again soon with some Bonsaigrower LUI as a temp until my 400W room is ready.

Then I will see you all at the 400 Club!

Be safe!

Thank you gays for yours comments about my RedBox.
Sugabear, I already bought activ carbon and plan to build two easy carbon scrubers. One like this before my fun and flat screen with carbon in place where is outgoing from my box.
Today i bought perlit, dolomite, beaverboard which goes under the glass. I already bored it and instaled. I instaled a socket as well.
I also pluged in all things together for to check it up. Temp is now about 34C but when tommorow I'l buy a glass it whill be much lower I hope.

I already started to germ 6 WRxA seeds. I hope to get 2 fem from it.

sugabear_II - Thanks for the info and the consequences of my high temps. I'm still working on getting them down. And by the way don't slip on the Ice. lol

Red_Greenery - Awesome chart, glad you saved it form Overgrow. Also I found a post of yours in the NGB MicroBox Modifications thread about intake to exhaust ratios. I was wondering if you had another chart (or formula) for those.

Bulénath - Loved the info and tutorial on the carbon scrubber. I'll be getting one of those Panasonics but only if the new idea for the ventilation system works.

xctoke - I'm not really sure but if you vented it just right. Sure.

There is a cabinet at Home Depot that has about the same dimensions (height and depth) as mine but about a foot wider.

As for the modification to your box, I hope it's to the ventilation system. I'm going to rip out the back to mine and replace it with a 4" PVC system and a fan for the mother/clone section. The baffles are creating too much back pressure and cutting the CFM on my fan. I'll start that tomorrow and try to put up the pix asap. I hope it helps in your construction.

Q_bal_1 - You can hit me in the head with those bats any day. lol

grunwald - Great box. That was a good idea of using two cabinets to increase the depth of your growbox.

Good growing to all.
