Let me first start off by saying “Happy New Year” to all of our official members and, just as importantly, those of you that just stop by from time-to-time, and either post or just check us out.

I can’t believe it’s coming up on a year since I started this thread. Having been one of the original members when we were on OG, I just knew this would be a great place for us to continue our idea sharing and helping. And, you surely didn’t let me down! In less than one year, we have become one of the three-most-viewed threads on the entire International Cannagraphic site. While a few others may have more posts, at nearly 100,000 views, were only second to both “Post Your Piece” and “Sad News on RC”.

So why am I telling you this? Not to stroke your ego, but rather to seek your input. I think the time has arrived for us to get a few of the “crystals” we love on our own shoes and become a little “Sticky.” That’s right, I feel our thread should be given a permanent spot at the top of the Growers Forum. As many, many, visitors use us as an information resource, we should be readily available for all to find and access.

While many of us have fond memories of OG, I’m confident we all feel truly at home here on IC. That being said, I would like to drop the OG reference in the title of our thread and change it from “150 HPS Club (OG Continuation)” to “150 HPS Club & Resource Guide”.

As this thread belongs to all of us, I will not ask to have anything changed without your approval and input. So mull over what I have put forth here and let me know what you think. Feel free to post your feelings here or send them to me in a PM.

For now, a Happy and Healthy New Year to all and Grow Safe & Grow Smart.

Pipedream

Happy New Year to you and yours Pipedream!!!

First let me say thank you for starting this thread. I for one wasn't a member on OG and have only known about ICMag for several months. So that said I offer my respect to all those that were part of starting this back in the day but I personally have no history with OG anyway. I've been an amateur grower for years...keep it simple....but since following this thread and a few others on ICmag I feel I'm becoming a little more educated. I fully support having this thread as a sticky...it's jam-packed with people either posting or lurking that really know what they are talking about. Much like anything in life, when you have to work in small spaces with limited resources, your forced to perfect what it is you are doing to get the most out of it. That said, the 150 watters and 400 watters are the folks to watch. A great example are the people that come to this website and this thread to learn to grow tomatos and orchids... when I saw that I kinda chuckled but then thought...nope...that makes sense, where else can you find such a wealth of info... so, much respect to you Pipedream and those that have inspired me....keep up the good work and make this a sticky!!

THANK YOU - Gypsy Nirvana, et al.

Members and friends will no longer have to search to find us. Even if we don't post for a day or two. We now have a permanent home at the top of the Growers Forum.

Again, I just want to remind our regulars and all guests.....if you have an EXCELLENT resource for us to include on our opening page please PM it to me for consideration.

What strains do you recommend for scroggin'? Right now I have a Snow White mother, also seeds for Aurora Indicia and Citral. Those strains are mainly good for couch lock. But I'd also like something of a more "up high" as well. I'm just afraid I might order something that would strech too much or take forever to ripen.

Now with seeds that are not feminzed, I'm not so sure what to do. Mainly because I just don't have as much room for experimenting with. My planned scoggin' area is 2'x2'x4' (approx). The planned mother chamber is 2'x2'x2'. (again approx). Would I have to wait till the cuttings grow roots before I could start sexing? Or can I do that nearly right away?

Jax

First off Id like to thank Pipedream and everyone whos made this thread to what it is now. Ive learned so much from reading everything and feel confident, knowing an answer to almost any question is right here.

Hey Jax. It looks like we're in about the same shoes. I have a 2'X2'X4' flowering chamber but a 1' X 2' veg room Ill be using to veg one plant at a time and be home for hopefully one mother plant. Ive love the idea of a perpetual harvest and have the time to take care of it so thats what I will be attempting, with scrog screens, one for each individual plant.

Ive done little on research for preferred strains, I was hoping on just getting some clones from a friend. Id rather buy some seeds of a reputable brand and a desired strain. But with so much to choose from at such a variety of prices I always see myself looking for the cheapest strain available to me. I too am looking for the answer to a good strain to buy. I know it has lots to do with preference but Im looking for a easy strain to scrog, available in Canada with short flowering time.

Also another question, since ill be training the clones once theyre rooted should I plant in final pots right away and tie down each plant to it's pot to minimize movement of tied down parts, or is it ok to start small and move to larger pots retying it down for every transplant?

Jason,

I really REALLY wish I could give you advice on scroggin'. I've never done it before myself. But all my research has shown me that this would be perfect for my new found situation. You see, along about 3 years ago (damn how time flies) a stork delivered a presant to the wife and I. The wife and I discussed the situation and decided without any hesitation what so ever that it would be best to shut our larger grow down. Sure, we would have like to had it running longer, it's helped get that much closer to realizing our dream of owning a home. But the risks where just not worth it when it come to potentially having a child taken away.

What I can answer for you, if I under stand you right, is this. Once you "plant" your scrog, that's it! You don't keep repotting it. This is excellent if you plan on using DWC method of growing. That I do have expericnce with. No hassles messing with dirt and what to do with spent soil and all that jazz. I highly suggest you do a forum search for "dwc" as well as scrog. When you mentioned "tieing down", there is a term for that style of growing, but it's not scrog. With scrog you have a screen of wire suspended about 6-8 inches above the plants. You train the plants so each screen opening has a bud site come up through it creating a canopy of buds. This would make repotting a nightmare to say the least.

As far as strains go, I'm just as in the dark as you are. I bought the Snow White a while back, and ordered the Aurora and Citral while I was concidering a mini sog rather then scrog. But recient changes in local laws, I wanted to have as few plants as possible....just in case.

Sugabear,

You've mentioned that you scrogged in your cabinet? If ya don't mind, I'd like to ask a few general questions about this. Need to keep my brain active while I slowly accumulate the nessary materials for my cabinet.

My other question is how to pick the right plants for mom's when concidering scrogging. I'm hoping the Snow White adapts to scrob. I loved it as a sog plant. Nice short plants with big frosty buds. Wish I had pics from my large 1000w grow. The thing is, I bought the feminzed Snow White seeds from Gypsie. Of 10 seeds, 8 sprouted two died a few weeks later. From there I just kept track of which plant was which and kept the ones with the highest yeild, until I got it down to one mother.

Or can I do that nearly right away?

tia,

Jax

oh hey jax - sorry to leave you hanging like that. So let's see for a scrog strain I think a couple of things are key - one is side branching. Single cola dominant plants do not make good scrog plants. They can be topped to get more branches but that will increase veg time. You can also train the single cola around the screen, but you might not fill the screen. So a branchy plant is a good scrog canidate.

Total Stretch time is important too - this is best related to total finish time - a plant that takes 14 weeks to finish (like a haze) will stretch for 4-5 weeks - this is not a good scrog plant. You want to stay with the 7-9 week strains for scrog as they tend to stretch for 2-3 weeks which is good for training.

Also stretch is important. If you grow a no-stretch indica like G-13 and LUI are supposed to be you will have trouble filling your screen. So you want something with 2 - 3x stretch.

Off the top of my head I would say c99 is a good scrog strain as are it's crosses. Joey Weed does a nl x c99 that is a good yielder, cheap, available in Canada (hempdepot) low odor and easy to grow with a nice racey high. Femaleseeds grapefruit which is 75% c99 was an excellent scrog plant too - see my thread in the vendor forums.

C99 is a good scrog plant and femaleseeds version is supposed to be pretty good. I also found burmese to be good for scrog - as are it's crosses such as fighting budha from what I've seen.

In general indie/sat mixes with 7-9 week flower times are good scrog strains.

So on the transplant question... I generally only put the screen on when flower is started and by then you should be in your final container size. Veg till the plant is 4-8" depending upon the stretch of the plant. Top if you want. Screen should be 6-10" above top of soil. The idea is that the plant is almost to the screen when flower starts. The first 2/3 of stretch is then trained across the screen in the first 14-21 days of flower. Then the last 1/4 - 1/3 of strectch is allowed to grow up through the screen vertically.

Hope that make sense.

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone had a nice holiday season and happy new year!!

I thought that I would share a few pics of my BOG BMR just before harvest.

These ladies went 60 days....then 48 hours of darkness.

They have dried and have been in jars for about 2 days now. I'll get some pics of the cured buds up after they have been in there for a week or two.

I was able to clone the plant on the left, but I'm attempting a re-veg on the plant on the right.

I'm planning a test smoke with this and my FMS ICE on SUPERBOWL SUNDAY...... So, I'll have several people's feedback to share.
:woohoo:

I can't wait!

Wow BRNEY those plants look awesome! I just started harvesting mine, I finished one plant, I'm going to bed, I'll do the entire other plant tomorrow when I wake up, before I have to go to work. I'd say the whole plant took me 1-2 hours to trim.

I have no idea what it weighs, I don't own any scales. I'll have more updates in my diary. (link in the sig)

I don't know if I'll be able to stay in the club for my next grow, I'd like to get a 100w MH so I can get more watts and a mixed spectrum. Of course I'll stick around, this is a great thread and there's always great new pictures or info every time I visit. Thank you everyone for making my first grow a success!

grow number 3 ...

a little background : all 4 plants are in soil, all were vegged under 16/8 lighting (dont ask) which eventually caused them to flower. they have been under 12/12 for 6 days.

plant number 1 : sugarwarp; i was hoping for great things for this plant (started from seed) but she is thin and barely budding. she is even more spindly than she appears. nonetheless, will take it to the finish if i can, just to see how she tastes.

plant number 2 : let's call her "the runt". nigerian nightmare from seed. she has always been petite, but i kept her because a) she's female :yummy:
, and b) i have read where a lot of people were pleasantly surprised by their runts.

plant number 3 : nigerian nightmare from seed . this plant has lots of bud sites and is the healthiest of the bunch . problem : she is in a 6" pot and may have to be transplanted ?

plant number 4 : i call her "the mother", not because she is mother to any of the foregoing, but because i used her for cloning practice. also, she had been bonzai'd a while back . she is the biggest of the 4 and has adequate budsites, but is the least healthy of them .

my floor space is 19" x 27" so i probably have enough room to keep only 2 of these. does this mean i will have to slay the other two contestants, or should i put them back into the veg. cabinet ?

am wide open to your suggestions/ comments/ curses .

hold on to the sugawarp as it's burmese x timewarp which will make you happy :D probably finish stronger in the end but take a bit longer.
