mmmmm Coffee and Sunday Mornings

HP .... can't wait to see your cab goin!!! Your attention to detail should be fun to watch. Do you plan on going soiless organic this time or organic soil?

Tipster ... huh? was that a spelling error? or should I give it a shake or just drip dry? ... I think I was commenting on how your plants looked so healthy and dark green and glossy...kinda like wax or one of those fake plants...kinda cool.. I usually see a little brown mark somewhere or deviation from the rest of the plant somewhere...totally normal ...anyways...looks good Mang!!!

Here's a little something I checked off the "to do list" yesterday.

Have a great day y'all

Morning Bonsai buddy,

I am gonna go organic soil mix with ammendments. Depends what I can get around here. There is a great organic soil mix available with seaweed and mychorrizae fungus already added. I guess experiments and results over time will dictate.

I really believe that organic soil chock full of microorganism goodness will lend to the best taste, smell, high....i think I will add red wiggler worms to the soil bins to fertilize, aerate and control fungus. Nematodes are another great addition to your soil. Like guided missiles, they will search out and kill all kinds of bad larvae, fungus, rot and other pests.

I can't wait to try new techniques to increase yield. This looks promising: http://www.leevalley.com/garden/page.aspx?c=1&p=10532&cat=2,2300,33272&ap=1

I want to do a side by side test and see if there is a difference. Works for tomatoes, works for weed, hopefully. At least it's cheap to try out and may help discourage fungus gnats and other soil borne pests.

Nice aircooled! That's the 150hps?

L8R!

i'm planning on joining this club after my first grow is finished (with envirolites) i think i'm keeping the enviro 125W blue bulb for wegging and getting a 150W Hps for flowering.

would you guys recommend these?
bulb: http://www.indoorgardens.fr/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=23_103&products_id=440&language=EN
ballast: http://www.indoorgardens.fr/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=23_124&products_id=435&language=EN

since in live in scandinavia i prefer ordering over the internet because hydro stores here are pretty poor and very expensive. this indoorgardens.fr seems pretty okay.

HP.. I saw that red cover in the cataloug and was going to try it in the Tomato garden next year. good eye Have a great day bro

bjudi ...check this link out since it seems you are interested in building your own remote ballast rather than buy a complete kit. this is much cheaper and all the guys here can tell you how good it works.

Cheers

Edit ... Yes HeadyPete that's the 150W HPS I picked up at Princess Auto

BG, thanks but that seems like an awful amount of work (and i'm no electrician) ...i dont think it will be that much cheaper either, since the indoorgardens.fr ballast is 150 watts and ready for "plug & play" and only costs 35 eur....

welcome, bjudi . if you arent comfortable with taking on the 'remoting' of a ballast then, by all means, go with the 'plug and play' set-up .

safety first, last, and always .

enjoy your hobby .

Damn time flies!
Suga that was a nice hervest. Gota spend more time looking through them. The purple came out very nicely indeed. Thank you all for the kind words!
Last two weeks since posting was full of hard work on the cabinet. Today the OB! gets germed, three clones are in the *Finished* new grow box (pics soon to follow), and the C-Dub Stativa is going to be harvested a little early, because I somehow smoked 1-2 grams a day! ALOHA!

hey everyone. Yet again I encountered some more problems with my plant and I'm not too sure what to do anymore, it may be too late. We had a pretty sizeable storm last friday and the power went out. The plant is fairly late into flower and has already hermied slightly, but I was gonna pull it til te end anyways for fun. Due to the power outage I loast 2 full 12 hr days of light. Our internet is actually still down at home so I set the lights back up to how they were before the power outage. Theyre now under the 2nd day of light again after the 48 hr darkness.
Is this going to be a big deal if I keep them going for another, 2 weeks prbly? Or should I pluck it now and take an early harvest. Its only one plant, which im expecting to yield less then a 1/4 so it's not a big loss either way. I love the feeling of smoking something I made, and I dont wanna wait another 3 months to have it, I just dont want to lose this plant all together.

Bonsai - I'm gonna be building a cool tube like that most likely, maybe to have the potential of fitting 2 150Ws down the line. What material is the clear pipe? Where do you get something like that? Is certain materials better then others in terms of getting the least lumens lost through the glass?

Thanks, Jason

Pheno #1 and 2 look identical! Nice bonzai WR flowering!

JasonK,
Its hard to say how the 48 hour black out will affect the following 2 weeks of flower. But if I had to guess, they are probably okay! They have only 2 weeks left, so the black out couldent hurt that much. Besides, some people give a 48-72 hour black out right before harvest, in order to stress the plant into pumping out all its energy into the trichomes. Some growers claim the crystals sparkle more after the long dark peroid. What if your accident turns out to be a god send, and you discover a better way to approach harvest! Keep us informed on your plant as she nears the end. This will be interesting.

Carlos, Suga, Bjudi,
If you got the cash then why not upgrade to a bigger light? You could increase your yeild by 33%.
The HTGSupply Floralux 150HPS Mini is very nice and profesional. The ballast housing and reflector are beautiful. Also, the Ballast dosent make any noise, except for a slight 5-10 second vibrating hum during start up! Perhaps I didnt notice the buzz during the initial test fire because it was resting on carpet. Now that the ballast is suspended on L-Brackets, the vibrating buzz is noticeable, but only for the first 5-10 seconds after start up. I think over all the ballast is very good. The reflector is definately a work of art. You will get to see it in action when I post the new pictures of my new cabinet. I hear ya on not wanting to go through the hassle of constructing an E-conolight, although they are popular, tried and true. Building a reflector, ballast housing, disassembling of the light, re-wiring it, etc... If you wanted to remote ballast the Floralux, its very simple, and involves only two wires. Unless you cant tell the difference between red and black wires, there are no excuses.

Anyway, the latest posts have some amazing pictures. Gota love all the good work coming through! I love this club! Aloha!

I'll shoot some upclose pics today or tommorow.
Pheno 1 had more indica leaf structure as 2.
Pheno 1 is way sensitive to heat (anything over 72F and she droops!!)
Pheno 1 is producing thicker buds (which leads me to believe it got most of the indica genes).
Pheno 1 has a deep smell, rich greenery type thing going on, pheno 2 is spicy.

Right now I'm leaning towards keeping pheno 2 as a mother for a while. I'm more of a sativa high guy and I don't mind if she dosen't produce much bud, it takes me a long time to go through bud! :joint:

The WR is a great plant, very strong and resilient if you get the right pheno. I just got tired of her super strong indica high! This is the last I'll be seeing of her for a while. No more cuttings or anything of that plant.

Bulénath - I'm looking forward to seeing how the ob1s turn out for you. I have a clone of the indie pheno in flower now and it is turning out some frosty assed rock hard nuggets. The sativa pheno I did not keep, unfortunately, but the smoke is amazing - smoke tastes like rancid berries - it would be discuisting if not pot - the high is really nice and smooth, an immediate effect is apparent but it takes almost a full half hour to peak and then the high lasts for a good 3 hours. I smoked a small joint of this stuff with 5 other chronic smokers a few weekends ago and by the end several people had dropped out and everyone was commenting on what good stuff it was, 1/2 hour later I asked one friend how he was doing and he said "whew I am super high", another friend was having trouble communicating - now that's what I call good weed!

JasonK - you can find huricane lantern replacement glass globes at hoby stores and these can be used for cool tubing your lamp. These will work but the ultimate in safety will be found with a pyrex tube, such as the bake-a-round. these can be found on ebay.

Natural - nice looking plants - how do you like the grow bags?

I like them because I can fit that extra plant in my cab without losing soil volume, although it's hard to LST with them! I ended up having to tape the string to the sides of the bag with duct tape.

sugabear_II Thanks for the info .... I know exactly where to get a silk screen in town now. I've read alot of links on the bubble hash buckets and what not...some people make a big deal out of the process and some keep it simple. Once I actually have enough trim to work with it'll be a fun experiment and safer than makin oil. What's the smallest amount of trim you have made it with? If the trim was totally covered in sugar would it stand to reason I could use less trim?

yeah keepin it simple is good - if you're not processing alot of trim you don't need 7 bags just 3-4; the big one ~210micron, ~158 which catches some stuff that is smokeable but mostly contaiment, then the 74-75 micron which is the money bag this is the good stuff, the 23-25 micron bag produces again some smokeable content but it's not so potent.

Small batches work well and if it's frosty trim produce well too. The other day I trimmed off all the bud remanents I had on a reveged trainwreck clone and ran that through the bags and got a nice quarter sized piece of good hash. Most of the time I skuff the trim on the silk screen and then bag it and into the freezer. I do this with both the fresh fan leaves I trim off initially, I run these through the bags as one batch and then when I do final trim I rub the trim over the screen again and then freeze and run through the bags. Then I toss what's left, which is now usually a purlp like consistency.

You'd be amazed at just the silk screen produces by rubbing the dry trim across it

SugaBear...thanks mang .... that's the answer I was lookin for and I knew I could count on you to find the question and answer it. ...Thanks again.

Did you see the 150W air cooled remote ballast I made? Pic is a little further up in the thread. I made it using the instructions from the link in your signature. Very simple to make and over the holidays I will be makin a new cabinet. I plan on busting apart my veg and mother cab I currently am using. I'll need the supplies from it as well as the space it's taking up. My plan is to have 3 grow spaces in the cab. 1 for Moms/clones, 1 for Veg that will fit 1 of my 400W grow tubs (see 400w club), and finally 1 for the 150w hps so I can scrog specialty strains and/or experimental strains.

Thoughts or comments as always are very welcome.

Have a great day everyone. Lovin this hobby!

Edit ... JasonK I just noticed your question about the cooltube glass but as you can see Suga noticed...ha as for Lumens lost I don't think that would be an issue with clear glass. IMHO

for example

this amount of dry sugar trim and rubbed it across this screen with my hand and then a plastic card for a few minutes over this glass dish

10099trim_on_screen.JPG

when we're done we get this nice little pile of good dry sift

10099trim_dry_sift.JPG

and finally a little bud porn for bule - here' is a clone of the ob1 indie pheno at around 54 days of flower. This is really chunky bud.

sugabear_II - Do you have a shot of what those leaves looked like before the plant was harvested? I'd really like to do a dry sift for my first few harvests, until I can save up for some bubble bags. Also, what size silk screen did you use?

New stealth 150 TV stand equiped with new TV!

New stealth 150 TV stand equiped with new TV!

Aloha everyone!
Caretakers and frequent guests, as well as a certian family member who can never know about my little secret, have inspired me to create this box. This will also help me support my father's pain management, for he loves the herb, and is a retired grower. Also I am the lightest sleeper around. Not only that, my cabinet is just two feet from my bed! This cabinet is extremely quiet, and operates very cool. (the thermometer is on the floor yet in direct light; remains two - three degress F above ambient.

Thats a 32" Panasonic. Only 40ish pounds, pretty light.

And the doors open.

24" x 14" total for the flower chamber, and only 17 1/2" high!!
Is this the smallest 150 chamber you ever seen?

Little chamber to the right will be used to dry *some" of the excessive Ganja that should grow perfectly...hopefully.

Take a look at the reflector.
It wasny easy to perfectly mount the thing onto quarter inch lips!
The floor plan sports fourteen 1-1/2" holes with 180 degrees of PVC under each hole for a light trap. Three of those holes are actually built into the lower section of the right wall, saving lots of floor space and still creating an even updraft. The gap around the reflector is perfectly built to allow adequate airflow to pass.

Attic:
-Panasonic whisper fan carbon scrubber.
-Digital timer
-1amp ac/dc converter.
-Two 60cfm- 120mm Mad Dog Computer Fans. One for the reflector, one for the ballast! (from Circuit City)-Max operating temp 70c- hopefully the fan wont melt, so far so god. These fans take 0.1amps and less than 2 watts! Also only 24 dBA which is very quiet.

Closer look at the fans. They are mounted on some Weather stripping which serves many functions! Seals the fan to the reflector, absorbs the vibration, and props it up for maximum surface area.

The ballast housing is hollow to allow max airflow *through* the heart of the ballast, cooling the components individually!

Closer look at the side chamber for drying herb.

A third 60cfm fan blows between the light at cola tips. Held inplace by weather stripping aswell. I originally had two 60cfm fans, but two fans moved no air what so ever, because they cancled eachothers pressure! A mistake I over looked.

Finnaly the flower chamber. Check out the quarter inch lips that hold the reflector! Those had to be so exact... The reflector is superglued to the tiny lips. But not without ducktape as a buffer of course. The end result is a 100% perfect light pattern. No protrusions or wires, just a smooth chamber with a light cealing.

Grand total for the Cabinet: $600.00usd.
