I have a 150w hps...how many plants can it grow if it is reflected properly and heaight of plant is dealt with?

2 - 4 plants to finish are possible depending upon your space and reflector. if your space is rectangular you'll probably want to stick with two plants. if your space is square and you have a decent reflector you can grow 4 plants. more if just vegging. So if you start from non-fem seed you can start with 4-8 plants and wittle your way down to 2-4 females in the end.

edit: p.s. I cut down the sativa pheno of the OB1 last night at 83 days of flower. Yield looks to be very good - buds are way sticky and stinky of perfume and fruit.

Wow, everybody's set-ups and gals are looking so smooooooooth!

I'm considering meeting up with a few long-term IC members during the upcoming holiday season. (health permitting)

If any of the 150 Club are planning on being in the Big Apple and might also be interested, drop me a PM and we'll see what can be worked out.

Regards to all.

Panasonic Whisper Fan Carbon Scrubber tutorial

Panasonic Whisper Fan Carbon Scrubber tutorial

Only about a $100.00usd

Different models have different dimensions (i.e. 80cfm vs 120cfm)
Notice the black rim with moutning holes at the very top of the fan. Measure the dimensions of your model's rim.

Then buy a 1" x 3" from Home De Pot for about $3 or $4. This is the wooden frame that holds the carbon. Cut it to match the dimensions of the rim, and glue it together.

After it dries, we're gona drill some pilot holes.

Then fasten all four sides together with some screws.

Now we need four of each: 2" L-brackets, and 1" L-brackets.

And different screws because the ones that come with the L brackets are too long!

The L-brackets are used to hold the screen 1" above the Panasonic fan for Maximum surface area, but mostly to support the weight of carbon on the screen. The 2" L-bracket lines up with the very top.

Line up both L brackets so the screen rests evenly. Use the 2 incher to determine where the 1 incher will rest perfectly and evenly. We are going to use the 1" L-brackets for the corners, and the 2" L-brackets for the middle. Make sure you leave some space between the wall and 1" L-brackets in the corner, or you wont beable to screw them in!

When your finished it should look like this.

Heres another angle

Next comes the screen. City Mill sells this by the foot rather than in bundles, maybe cheaper. Get some wire cutters and cut the screen to match the inside of the frame. If the screen is a very tight fit, you may have to remove a few sqares to accomadate the L-brackets.

Another angle:

Get 8-12 sets of Washers/bolts/nuts. Make sure they fit in the L bracket holes! Fasten the screen to the L-brackets.

Flip the frame, mount it to the Panasonic with some screws & washers! There are holes in all for sides, no excuses! Make sure you use washers, or the pressure may warp the black rim when you tighten it down!

Now it should look like this, with a 2" carbon resevoir.

Get some Air Condition Filter sheets for $3-4 at Home De Pot. Just cut the filter to a perfect square and place over the screen. Make sure there is NO room or gaps where the carbon can fall into! This could destroy the fan!

Next just add the carbon. Notice the ductape that seals the fan to the frame. This is very important! You want all air to be sucked through the carbon, and only the carbon!

The quietest fan equipped with a massive DIY scrubber. Try to keep the Humidity under 50% if possible for all carbon scrubbers, pro and DIY. High RH will affect the scrubbers ability to remove odors. I havent noticed any smell however, even with 70% RH. Just a precaution. Any questions, comments, etc.. feel free. BigUps to Buffalo Grown from OG for introducing the fan, and saving my hobby.

Some nice new pictures with the new posts unread. Time for a party, then some replies. Oh and I promised the exact dimensions for this 80 cfm model, will update.
If you want to go bigger/smaller, the dimensions may change.

Bulenath, great tutorial man. You should make that into a seperate thread of its own so that it can be linked into the "ICMAG'S OFFICIAL ~DIY~ LINK-O-RAMA" sticky thread in the growroom designs and equipment forum.

and Fish131, those plants look real nice. Good job

Bulenath-

Great post...my roomate is an electrician and installed one of those fans for a customer last week in her bathroom. After hooking it up and turning it on he thought it was broken since it wasn't making any noise. He grabbed some toilet paper and held it up close to make sure it was working. You should definatly make that a new thread for the DIY link-o-rama. I just forked out almost 300 bucks canadian for a 6" vortex ...I bet Panasonic sales start going ...er hum....through the roof.

Ahhh Sunday morning coffee and inspiration for today's activities.

Have a great Day all!!!

nice too see this much activity in the 'club' .

suga, in answer to your question, the nigerian is fairly low-odour during the entire grow. you had to get right into the room where the cabinet is and do some serious sniffing to pick up the scent ( i use no odour control at all ) . cured, it smells a little like pinesol.

nicely done tutorial, bulenath . when i do eventually grow a more odorous strain i will be using this as a guide to build my scrubber.

keep those pics, tips, and questions coming, folks . the 150 club is easily my favourite thread at ic mag.

Killa-bud - My flowering cab is about the same size, at 24X24 X 48" high. I will be using 150W HPS and 43W CFL and will have 4 plants in their occupying 1sqft each. I havent tried it yet, and can always add another CFL if needed. Its hard to answer if it's "too big" it all depends on how much bud you want and how much wattage you're using. Mines this size, just so I have the option to expand some day down the road.

On a side note, I must have stressed my plant past its limit. It looks like the plants lower parts are turning male while its upper half is still female. I found a couple bananas forming, and their were balls forming on the bottom of the plant. I cut off the bottom branches hoping to eliminate the male side. Im not too worried about this plant, but might have contaminated my cab a bit with pollen and I want to make sure its all gone once my next grow begins. Is pollen still effective, say... a month after it's released, and if so whats the best way to clean it out?
The little branches with the balls had some bud forming and im wondering if I pick most the balls off will their be any harm smoking it?

Thanks, Jason

you'll be fine, you won't have bright light in the corners with that big of a floorspace, but that's ok extra floorspace is nice because if you wanted to you could go for a vertical - barrel of green - circular scrog grow in there and maximize yield. Otherwise you can add side lighting for the corners. Also great for a perpetual harvest as you can keep adding plants to the dark corner and rotate them into the sweet spot as they get ready to finish such as pipedream does.

what strain you working with?

If you guys don't mind i thought I'd pop in and give Pipedream and all the 150 watt club members a great big SHOUT OUT. With all the members of the club I see it won't be long before a few of them get BIT REAL BAD by the growing bug and go deep with the wattage. The same way I did several omg several years ago.

When I'm a little bit less high (I just got backed over by a Diesel and then hit by a Train Wreck that is) so right now the letters are a happy blur. Oh and I got 125 watts kickin in the cloner room:

And have forever used it for my beans as well:

I love floros so much I went out and got the Little BADBOY :

You floro guys see that 400 (unused) light above? The Satellite Floro smokes it for veg and I used lol the Hortilux Blue 400. So yes I'm a believer.

I'm old and spoiled so I get a kick out of reading about the new guys growing for the first time. You can almost feel the excitement in their posts when they talk about the germing seeing the first roots the new green growth the first sign of flower and finally the BUDS. You see guys we at IC love it all man, does it make YOU happy? That is what counts. To most of us any bud is good bud just some end up with more than others but IT ALL GETS YA HIGH so we are not so picky. :yummy:

I for one am glad to see the OG thread get closed. We are all after the same thing are we not? If this is the case then we are ALL brothers or sisters wanting to share the love so to speak and I just felt that thread was like ripping off a good scab on your knee before it ready.

I just hope you guys will let me play? I promise I'll be good and as always I just love to share.

Keep It Green Guys
