lil update on my first flower...five weeks in

Little bottom bud full of seed. I think it's from a pollen sac i found then dropped out of sight a few weeks ago. I was happy to see them, cuz this plant is vigorous, fast flowering, and smells like FRESH Orange Juice




Smells so good I chopped some runts off it last nite. She's really puttin on weight though. Pics aren't the best, from DVR.

Now will the seeds be guaranteed hermie? They're gauranteed female, right?

this pic is already 12 days old . will get a more recent pic soon . there were 7 plants in this pic; WAY to many for my cabinet. there are just 2 in there now . no scrog or sog here, just straight up tree-style. all nigerian nightmare from seed. these plants seem to be happy just taking food from the soil . a very light feeding every once in a while; any more and they seem to cringe .

User Name - good to hear that the 150 is being shared and used!

Jubal - female, probably - hermie, maybe - never grown any of my "selfed" seeds out but I imagine you have a decent chance of doing ok - I mean just look at all the bag seed grows out there - these bag seeds that people find 2-3 of in a bag of kind bud are also hermie seeds and people seem to grow decent plants from these.

Greengrow those nigerians look very healthy - I can't remember were the seeds in the first grow the result of a male or the result of hermie - just wondering since it applies to jubal's question ^^^

brneyedbvr nice looking plants - very healthy and lush - I think you'll do well with them and get at least an oz per plant. I can't wait to see and hear how they turn out - I wonder if they'll turn purple/blue

Well here's some pictures of my oregon90 x burmese pure cross indica pheno - dried buds - these came out real nice - very sticky - skunky and funky from afar, but sweet and fruity up close - reminds me alot of some juicy fruit buds my friend grew. Yield was decent - around 2oz from the one plant - funny thing is the yield is about the same as I was getting from one plant under the 150 - only difference with the 400 is I now have 6 plants under the lamp instead of 2.







Sativa pheno is still going strong - she looks like she will yield well from the extra long flower period.

I just joined the club.

Got a lowes floodlight and remotely ballasted it. Ballast is in a ceramic bowl in the top of the cab, light is down below.

I'm shitting my pants afraid i'll burn the house down.

I double checked all the wires, and they all look good. Using 2 computer wires for my cabeling (the ones that plug into the power supply, i have some now firing up a 450 watt computer supply so i am pretty sure all is cool, but even so i am scared heh, course I was scared for the first few days of flouros too ) I keep checking the cab's temps periodically, waiting more and more time each time i check. prolly wont sleep too much tonight hehe, i'm giddy. I wired the lights ground directly into the ground coming off the ballast as i didnt have anything metal to tie it in to, but that should still be fine as it is running directly to the houses ground now.

i came here on a quest to become self sufficient with my weed, and i think i found enough good buds for my use in the 150 watt setup. I will also try my hand at breeding, if only to supply myself with more seeds. right now my genetics on hand are: masterlow (will be waiting to do this one outdoors), durban poison x skunk 1 (running it now), dream goddess and nirvana northern lights.

well, i have spent about an hour reading this thread, and am about halfway done, gonna go read the rest of it.

sugabear : my seeds were the result of pollination by a male that was so healthy, i couldnt bring myself to kill it until it was too late . worked out good though; still got my crop to harvest AND got some seeds to practice with . nice pics, great colours and frosting !

Heirloom - welcome aboard! I'm not sure I understand what you mean by the computer power supply wire you used to wire the floodlamp - was it the cord part?

Green grow - cool - it's awesome making some f2s - especially if it's a fairly stable strain - yours look very similar - I'm making some f2s with a burmese pure female that smells like grapefruit and a boy that were the last two of my seed pack. Let's see I got a 10 pack back in march 05 and one was crushed when received. Out of the remaining I've gotten 3 girls which have all been good, two boys that became pollen donars to the oregon90 to make ob1 and then again to the ob1 to make ob2 as well as to the last burmese pure female to make f2s, the other 4 I managed to kill during veg or germ because I am a careless grower sometimes. So I think I definetly got my $$ worth out of that pack of beans, sounds like you will out of your nigerian.

hey man, yeah i refer to the heavy grounded black cord that connects from the surge protector directly to the powersupply that supplies the juice for the entire computer system. they're standard heavy duty 6 foot long or so black cords with a male on one end and a female on the other. every computer in the world i think has it running into the power supply and they give fresh ones with any supply you buy.

i slept in the grow room last night. lights on is 11pm, so i went to bed shortly after, woke up at 4am checked everything and it was good so i went to my bed. today it went the entire cycle alone while i worked, i came home once and all was good. my confidence level is increasing.

i check it often and noticed 2 baby caterpillers on a leaf and killed em, now i examine them closely each time. i gotta get a magnifying glass, every speck of dust i see has me afraid of it being spider mites. the caterpillers are likely from when i was on a 24 hour light period, under flouros during the night and the sun during the day. dumb i know from a pest perspective, but great for growth. now they're about 7 inches from my HPS and doing well. Temps reach 90 -95 in there during the hottest part of the day but its a durban poison x skunk so should be fine. my goal is to run out a quick harvest, so although they are 11 days old today, and pretty young, i will be switching to 12/12 on tuesday. in the cab also is a dream goddess that just broke soil and a masterlow that hasnt sprouted yet, they will come into 12/12 right off the bat. cant be helped, dont care about reduced yield, i gotta finish this one up. hell at this point i could probably get high off the fan leaves if i smoke them first while the bud cures lol. i'm gonna try thats for sure

Wow this is matery of the 150 watts. I thought I was getting some decent shit with my 250, but you guys's plants look the same... dammit. I didn;t do hardly anything though. Nice!

yeah i was originally considering a 400 mh/hps, but after seeing these guys i went with 150. if i can get half of what they are getting i will be happy. i'd much rather use this to its potential and get growing down really good then just throw brute force at things and blunder thru everything hehe.

here's day 10 of 12/12 . the leaves really arent yellow as they appear in the pic.
4 plants in there right now, 3 females and 1 unsexed. only 2 will stay. i guess i can start practising my cloning with the extra female . cool !

im thinking about picking up a couple 150s next week. how loud are they? the only noise my cab makes is a little wooshing from the exhaust. these might not be for me if they drowned out everything.

if there is no noise at all in the room and i come very close to the ballast i can detect a faint humming, but once the first fan goes on it's drowned out. no sound escapes the door anyhow. very quiet. this is the lowes floodlight btw.

Here are 3 little Lifesaver gals I got going.
I changed a few things this year, to include more accurate ph readings (got a new ph pen,haha), fine tuned temps (day-74,night 65), started using dolomite lime and using the 3stage formula with GH nutes.

These girls are pretty, almost like my sister who is 4th top prostitute of all of Kaziskhan.






Due to a high male seed count, I got less numbers going in, so these girls are getting with 3 x 150's, so they should yield well. I do have an oddity, my more sativa LS pheno, is at 3 weeks and still getting taller. It seemed to have stopped and then wham, i swear it grew 4inches over night.

Nice! You know, I was going to upgrade within a few months to a 400 but now I am thinking of just getting a 150 and adding it to my 250.

I think a lot of people forget about the personal growers. They suggest things as if we all want to strive for like 3 0z per plant and have a 20$ increase in electricity and make it a lot more noticable. While this might be true for some, I know in my case that would just be too much.... (there is such a thing).

If you use a 150 properly, there is really no need for a 400 unless your a commercial grower.

I'll probably stick with my 250, the extra light will make up for my dumbass mistakes.

having recently switched to a 400 I can say the yield per plant is comparable - you just can grow more plants.

If I wasn't going to be taking a break from growing I never would have gone up to the 400. Running a single 150 with a small veg cab I have been able to build up a decent surplus of buds in my stash. Easily enough to hold me over for 6 months. But my break will be longer than that so hence the 400.

24 Days into 12/12... (taken about a week ago)


Main bud on my more indica-ish plant (They both seem to be more sativa than indica though, judging by pictures I've seen around here. Hope that doesn't mean long flowering time)


How they lookin? I haven't posted much lately, there's not much to do besides water them twice a week when they get thirsty, it's all pretty easy. I'd like to harvest a few days before Christmas but I dunno... think they'll be ready?

so these digital ballast dont make no humming sound.

no hum - less power consumption and better bulb life with more even output over the life of the bulb - all the claimed advantages of the digital ballast. downside so far has been reliability - no one wants to waite a week for a new one to come on warranty.

here i am at day 12 of flower and with the 2 females in the cabinet that i hope to take to the finish. last grow there was only 1 plant in there, but i think i can manage 2, we'll see . they are stretching quite a bit; i THINK i have enough headroom but i will have to wait and see there, too . if not, i can bend the tops over, i suppose.

i'm a lot more relaxed with this second grow. these plants are pretty tough . i have a smaller (4 or 5 inch) seedling which was bent over 90 degrees this morning due to dehydration. watered it, and when i got home from work it was standing up like nothing had happened (except for some damage to the 2 bottom leaves) !

Few pics of BMR @ approx. 23-25 days.....I think.

You'll notice in the first pic, a deficiency on the right rear and right front fan leaves.... this has since been fixed....I believe it was from abuse earlier in her life and all the other growth looks great.

The small leaves right by the buds are starting to get trichomes on 'em!
