I'm sorry, I'm a little behind. Posted something that is no longer relevant. I can't wait to get some shots up for you guys, I might go take some now and show you how my new cab is doing. I'm pretty happy with it!

There's an overview of my little garden, for some more details and individual shots you can check out my grow thread. I'll be happy to answer any questions here though!

Well I must admit, I've been negligent in posting in the thread. And considering it's my name at the top, I should be much better at it. Thing is, my cabinet is in temporary storage due to a serious termite/water leak condition in my garage. That's where the box was kept. The entire garage is undergoing major repair and renovation. Some outside walls had to be totally demolished and rebuilt.

As far as the plants go, they were relocated to a few friends locations. Sadly, they didn't get the tender loving care they need and want and have shown their dislike. As of last night, only one survived. This seems like an old story as I had lost several plants earlier this year. She is the last of some old seeds that I found that were not properly stored and lost their viability. While I'll do what I can for her, I can only see her once or twice a week and am not to optomistic.

A long-time online friend has once again made a very generous offer to provide me with some new seed stock. So as soon as I can get my cabinet back and operational, I'll start over. Unitll then, I'll enjoy myself by keeping an eye on everyone's grows from here.

I'm off to see the last survivor, and will post a pic when I return.

Regards to all, PD & Jr.

Damn termites! We get plenty here in Hawaii. Monoa is real bad. Sorry no pics with this post. My camera took a shit and the new ones got some funky new softwear that I'm new to. With that said...I harvested both cabs and turned them off for about a year I figure (maybe longer). I've got so much supply and with this new harvest, well lets just say I wont need to buy any for awhile.
This is how I see things when it comes to matching the bulb to the builder... 150 watters = grow for themselves, sell very little as they have no desire to being a supplier other than to maybe a close friend who usually then smokes for free. 250 watters = same as the 150 'ers but maybe smoke a fair bit more then a smaller bulb consumer might possibly due to a med condition. It then jumps to 400/430 which I feel is diving into the world of "Holy crap this is a lot of weed"...guess I can sell some just to get it out of the house or "Time to get some bubble bags"! The 400 guy scares the commercial guy to death. 600 watters are just more industrious 400 watters with maybe a toy in mind to p/u after the harvest. The 600 guy keeps kicking himself for not getting the 1000 watt system instead and starts thinking what a 1600 watt grow might cost.
The 1000-2000 watter says to me,"I don't care about the electricity draw as my end product almost nullifies my wattage". This guys supplementing his living expenses with "green" profits. Has a multitude of friends who all smoke and appreciate a "finished" product. The 1000 watter had a plan, executed it with a bit of enginering, chemistry and herbology and ended up a little wealthier capitalist.
Beyond 5000 watts (What I would call a commercial supplier.) Don't know one or know of one. I'm sure they're out there though. Hell, Hawaii's #1 cash crop is marijuana (as determined by the Hawaii legislature). Don't ask me how they determined that BTW. Your commercial guy has connections both domestic and international and probably speaks a primary language other than English.
This guy, "group-of-guys" got together one day and said, "what's a good/quiet town we can set up shop in so as to stay very low on the radar"?
The commercial guy keeps the hydro shops in business with exceptionally large orders of nutrients, bulbs and occassionally ballasts.

OK so where am I in this group? In my case I'm the 400 guy gone back to 150 because it matches my personal product vs. demand ratio (knowing that ratio took some time BTW). Everyone's got their own individual reason for growing/smoking (helps them sleep, eases their pain, enjoy the high etc.) Whatever your reason is, I simply do it for the fun and enjoyment that this amazing plant has given me. I'm going to unplug for awhile but i'll be lurking.

Good Morning Folks.
Hope your weekend is going well.
As promised, I went and visited my last young lady yesterday.
She seems a bit sad sitting alone in a basement, but at least she is alive.
Here she is..............

We'll keep you posted as to her status.
Regards, PD & Jr.

Hello everybody, I signed up while ago, but never posted until now. I first came across this 150 HPS club forum when I was doing a ton of research before starting my first grow towards the beginning of this year. I had never grown before, and I was researching what type of setup and lights would be good for a newbie grower such as myself. I was originally going to go 100% CFL, but after some research, which included finding this thread and seeing some impressive results, I decided to get a 150 watt HPS for my first grow for flowering, and use CFLS for vegging. I also found some people dissing 150 watts HPS certain places online, saying "Oh, you need at least a 250 or even better a 400 to grow good !" Boy, were they wrong ! I'm very happy with the 150 HPS which I'm using and since I only grow for my own personal use, it fits my needs perfectly.

Even though I signed up here a while ago, I decided to start a grow journal on another smaller forum, because frankly, this forum was intimidating, with all of the knowledgable growers on here and whatnot, and I felt it would be better to document my tiny grow on another forum, incase I totally messed up.

Anyhow, fast forward to today, and I'm currently on my second grow, and I have way more confidence in my skills now (though I'm still a newbie, lol), so I'm just popping in and posting a few pictures from my first grow. If I had never read this thread before I started growing, I probably wouldn't have taken the plunge and bought a 150 HPS light, I'd probably just be using CFLS throughout the entire grow. I'm glad I did purchase the 150 HPS, so I just wanted to say thanks to everybody in this entire, huge thread !

I documented my entire first grow, but here's just a few pictures from it. I was growing two plants, and one of them turned out to be a male. The female that made it was a bagseed. The next time I hear somebody say that a 150 HPS system doesn't cut it for a small, personal grow, I'll know from experience that they're full of crap !

Excellent 1st grow greenhead!

Pipedream...that Sata Nash lady looks healthy enough. Too bad you couldn't find a male to pollinate her with. Would have been nice to hold onto at least half her genetics. Maybe a trip to Jamaica in your near future could remedy that?

So I got this new camera worked out. I'll get some pics up of my scroged haze/zamal reveg under my 150 hps. She's the last plant in operation as the 430 cab was shut down and removed due to a supply glut...life is good.lol

Aloha

Wow,greenhead.Nice haul dude.Looks better and more productive than any of my last 4 grows.Congrats.Are they store-bought or bagseed?I'm too paranoid for store-bought so I rely on bag-seed.

Here in my part of the the SE United States we only get sativas, the occasional indica never has seed.
After 2 years of growing out sativa strains indoors,I've identified several that do well under 150 hps.All but one are low yeilders but are potent enough to make you see colors in the peripheral. One is a huge yeilder but with low potency.A project in the works.

I've recently harvested my first pollen from an unknown male that grew super fast, sexed and budded at lightening speed.Edit:(I allowed this male to polinate a female that I Love and was in danger of losing.)I now have about 70 tiger stripes that I have to go through trying to find the same genes that produced the skunky smelling, purple tipped pheno that I loved so much.Only this time I hope to find one that produces quantity as well as quality.I'm getting addicted to this game of finding unique sativas, and would challenge any south-eastern grower to read The Ultimate Sativa Thread on this site.I hope to find a bad-assed variety to contribute to the thread myself eventually.

I have one I'm working on that I named City Limits. It's a 2-toke low yeilder that exhibits solid purple back-sides on the leaves.Purple colors sell for twice the price of bud that is as equally potent or even better.Just something about that purple color fires up the imagination and distant, faint memories of us red necks. If I can come up with a male to collect pollen from,it would be a perfect mate for the large budding freak I mentioned previously.Peace
.

Nice haul!!! Final weight?

Thanks. I unfortunately never had a scale for that first grow. I don't have one now yet either, but I will be getting one before my second grow is completed.

What you see in that plate is about 75% of the total harvest from that one plant. I started sampling and removing buds off of the plant in the last weeks leading up to harvest. I was totally dry and I also wanted to sample the varying potencies of the buds as the flowering stage progressed.

Before I started growing for myself, I'd usually pick up ounce bags of weed, so I have a pretty good idea of what an ounce dry looks like. I'd estimate that this one plant produced somewhere between 3-4 oz. dry (Including the buds that I removed before the plant was fully harvested). If anybody else would like to give a guestimate as to approximately how much weed is in the plate, then feel free.

I smoke just under one gram a day on average, and that harvest has kept me going for more than three months now. It is getting sparse now, so that's why I started up my second grow.

Welcome & well done on your first grow, greenhead :D:yes:

Thanks ! Maybe it was just beginners luck, I'll know the answer to that when my second grow is completed in about three months or so.

To Lemon, Hawaiian808, and BoB91, Thanks !

(I didn't realize that you could only post one reply every five minutes on this forum, so I'm combining some replies.)

hardhat22, thanks ! Out of the two plants that can be seen in the first picture, one is a bagseed, and the other one is a Northern Lights. The Northern Lights turned out to be a male, so I quickly disposed of it. The harvest is only from the one female bagseed that I had growing.

It's funny that you mention sativas, because I'm really itching to grow a sativa for my third grow. I don't think that I've smoked too many sativas, and I'm interested in trying it sometime. My current second grow is Northern Lights. Good luck to you and your grow and your sativa experiments.
