A very cheap CO2 solution perfect for the small

A very cheap CO2 solution perfect for the small

I ws lookinat the 150w resource guide and saw thiA very cheap CO2 solution perfect for the small grower
http://www.petsolutions.com/Plant+G...-I-C-13-C-.aspx
and had an idea :muahaha: (ow makes my brain hurt) I brew my own beer (everyone should) Icould pipe the co2 rom my fermenters into the grow room, what great symbiosis :jump:

Great idea, run a tube from your bung-vent to the grow box! Would work with fermenting wine as well.

hey thanks suga and green grow. the transplant went well. However the white rhino x bk was a male. My gum is doing good. will put up a few pics later. I also put down 4 more seeds. 2 mmm#2 and 2 of JLPs seeds that he just sent out. I wish he would have gave this cross a name. oh well.

Hey nice lst job on that green grow. I try to lst also but for some reason everytime I do it my plant gets mostly lopsided to one side. You will see when I put up some pics later.
Oh yeah something keeps taking bites out of my girl. I cant find the bugger but its not so bad so we will see if I need to put up some defences. Have a good afternoon everyone. Smoking some supposed diesel from ny.

Banjoboy: Your link didn't work. I make my own wine, and have tried this idea. It's a bit of hastel IMHO. It means you have to keep your grow and fermentation areas right next to each other. In wine making, fermentation lasts for 3 weeks at the longest, and the longer it goes on, the less CO2 is produced. When I've tried it, I did not see any noticable growth spurts. Maybe I didn't have the best set up, or maybe it calls for a totally air tight grow room which I don't have, I don't know. Just my 2 cents

For CO2 to work well it has to be at sustained, high PPMs. Any idea how much CO2 fermentation puts out? If you don't have a sealed growroom, I doubt it'd be much help, as the CO2 would just be sucked out of the room soon after it entered.

We stagger our grows we can stagger our brewing and brew more beer grow more brew more grow more... it's a visous circle.
I didn't excpect it to to practical just a stray idea

The trick would be to build a mini thermal fan control. The biggest problem with Co2 is your ventilation fans sucking out the precious gas. For a larger grow, you could use what I did, a whole house thermal control. But these aren't as accurate as some of the controllers you can purchase at your local hydro supply store.

Another solution... I would assume that like myself most of us building small 150 grows, are basically looking for personal usage. Since really good stuff costs (in my area it's damned expensive...$100 for 1/8th ounce). Since I'll be saving so much by growing enough for myself and the better half, with that savings, we can easily afford to call up Omaha Steaks and have a few steaks for the BBQ and a nice roast for when the parents come by every month. AND a nice little block of dry ice....

Of course if one of you electronics gurus has the time, could always give us ideas on how to build a small thermal control for our muffin fans. I can't see a ppm system being made any smaller, and for the confined spaces most 150 boxes are I can't figure out where I'd put one anyways!

The only practical way I can see a co2 system installed is if one used a cool tube or isolated the lamp away from the plants in a sealed area, so as not to loose the gas.

I'm gonna really have to give this some thought, since I'm still in building stage.

Pretty healthy except for the few holes(so far)
also my 2 mmm#2 and the sdxog have popped their little heads out the soil. woops forgot to upload that pic. :joint:

Dual-ventilation seems to be an idea worth researching. If you had the light on a smaller fan JUST for the light (that is, intake from outside box, blow fresh air over the bulb somehow, blow out of box) you could use smaller, quieter fans and would have less air to scrub (most solutions I've seen scrub light cooling air as well as cab air), as well as being able to cool the light and not evacuate the cab's CO2. Not an original idea, not sure where I saw it first.

HW - Those look great, is there any way to get a picture under some CFLs or non-HPS lighting? I want to see the real colors of those!

update

update

Ive got some deficiences and something is attacking the leaves but other than that everything is a ok so far No noticable smell unless I rub the stems.

Gympsy Gum

Two mmm#2 and 2 sdxog (thanks JLP)seedlings(the ones closest to the blue straw) I think

One question-Do the purple stems mean I have a deficiency I think I read that somewhere on here?

having major problems all the sudden

been told nute burn, Nitrogen def, fungus... either way I started flushing added hydro guard and now my leaves arent burnin but they all dying off and drying up fast. Almost every leaf is yellow now with the majority of BIG fan leaves dried up and fallen off.

here is some bud shots though, first from last week, next 2 under HPS light last night.

hey koroz - you're about 6 weeks into flower, right?

what medium are you using - I looked back and I think you might be in coco or soil mix?

from what I'm seeing and what your telling me is going on now and what you have said about temps being in the upper 80s I would say that some roots dried out and died - when this happens things get bad quickly and seem to get worse over he following day or two immediatly after the first signs of problems even if correcting action is taken. Could also be ph - but I'm betting dry roots.

And the good news is that she'll still pull through and yield probably just as well - it'll be easier to trim though

I've done the same thing twice myself, so don't feel bad. -My first grow under a 150

see the bushy plant on the right (it's burmese btw)

and here she is near the end - all the leaves yellowed, browned, got crispy and up and came off around week 6 when I let the bucket get too dry.. still some damn fine smoke

and to show you even when I got bigger and better I had a trainwreck plant that drank nearly 2 gallons of flush water in three days I didn't check

here's what she looked like at 38 days - nice and lush and healthy

then around 6.5 weeks she dried out - but still hygrozyme and flush water she bulked up nonethe less and yielded quite well - you can see the leaves just got fried

So relax a little - you've flushed - hopefully temps are under control - wait and see - you're most of the way home anyways - don't freak until the buds start turning yellow

Hey suga I am trying to hit you w/ rep but it says I need to spread some first. Nice plants. I went to look at my one girl (Gypsy gum) and she is shooting out balls all over.. Probably from me messing with the light schedule due to my work schedule. It was looking so good I dont want to trash it but I dont want to ruin the four seedling I have(2 mmm#2 and 2 jlp sdxog) Oh what to do.

bob91 - gosh you've got a hermie issue on your gypsy gum and what to do...

first question, I have is how many weeks in flower is it?
second question, you say balls as opposed to nanners, does this mean you are actually seeing clusters of male flowers and not just individual little flowers/nanners (look like tiny bannannas hence the term)

some options;

1. cull the he/she - if you're getting full blown male flower clusters and not just a few male flowers coming out of your bud this is probably the best thing to do
2. pick the nanners off - if it's not so bad and you think it's specific to a light change and therefore will stop soon, then get some tweezers and get to picking
3. cold showers (mist and let dry outside of cab) for your other plants - in combo with 2 this will kill pollen on them and may even abort seeds forming
4. clean your cab - again in combo with above 2 and 3

-suga

edit: a couple of pictures to help define what I mean by nanners versus male clusters (balls)

this is a male plant forming balls or clusters of male flowers

this is a female plant throwing out a nanner (see red circles)
