i just went and weighed a scoop...cause a while ago i left my jar of maxi out, it turned into a brick, and i had to dry it and break it up again, i figured that the maxi still might have a little bit of moisture in it so weighing probably wouldn't be accurate, i figured one scoop would weigh like 9 grams...

anyways it weighed 3 grams! so for the last month ive been giving my plants less than half a scoop, when i know they prefer a full scoop...i have been wondering why they seemed to take as much koolbloom as i could give them cause they weren't getting enough from the maxi! also my moms have gotten purple woody stems from lack of pk and yellowing leaves from lack of nitrogen...

i thought my moms were just rootbound so i trimmed the rootball back and was dissapointed when it didn't jump right back to healthy growth...

now that i know it's taking me 2 and a half scoops per gallon just to get the right amount, i'm hoping my moms will perk right back up...my flowering plants aren't as bad off, they almost look normal cause they are in fresher soil than i usually use (i recycle soil) so it's still got decent nitrogen in it and ive been pumping in the pk with koolbloom so it hasn't shown any issues really, but i would prefer that they got more nitrogen and a little less pk, so the leaves darken a little more and node distance on my next batch stays short. now that i weighed my scoop i can fix my problem easy peazy.

so ya guys, weigh your scoopful occasionally to make sure your maxi hasn't changed in volume at all...it could have you way off like i was. i am going to be switching to flora nova nutes next month though, still lucas, but i'm so sick of mixing this crap into water...2 years of shaking a jar full of fertilizer for 20 minutes almost EVERY single day~! MEH! it NEVER fully dissolves no matter what, the way i see it it's just cheep crap, if koolbloom can fully dissolve in 30 seconds than they should be able to get maxi to do the same, and if they did i would be a happy customer for life, but i kinda feel like they don't care, it sells as it is and it's only meant to be their cheapest fertilizer line they make...so why take a bite out of profits and make the recipe more water soluble?

Why do you guys shake? I just put the maxi in. Works great. Flora Nova works great, but shaking it sucks. I use it (MAXI)with coco on drip and bubble buckets and I love it. Time to get some more.

When it's time to make a tank I'm using lbs of the maxi. No time for the jar or heating an stuff.. At most these days I put it in a 5 gal bucket of water that I keep moving with the truncheon then dump into the Rez.

The fellas trying hot water an such should give it a try an see. :tiphat:

I only have a 6 gal rez so I mix 6 scoops of maxi and 3 kb in a jar with warm water for maybe a minute. Then dump into the rez, stir a little, PH and I'm done. BUT I do 4 floods a day so my pump keeps things mixed as well. On a side note, so far my bag has been sealing so there's no problem with it hardening up. It's just so damn easy and and has worked so well, perfect for a noob like me.

I mix the Maxi in the full amount of water, cold and it never takes more than a few minutes and some light stirring for all the product to dissolve. I think it has been mentioned here, but trying to get the full load of maxi to dissolve in less than the full amount of water is what is difficult, that is why hot water is appearing to work so well. That has been my opinion thus far on why some are having solubility issues with Maxi powder nutes.

Wow 150 pages of reading over a weeks time later and I'm finally done LOL.. just made the switch from the foxfarms trio pack to just plain maxi @ 7g per gallon every other watering in SS#4 and the plants are loving it!.. some even improved overall health from whatever the ff nutes were lacking for them.

I just weigh out 35g of maxi(for 5 gal of feed) and mix it into a 5gal painters bucket filled with tap w/ a water pump inside and it mixes just fine within a hour or 2..then I just end up pumping it into my watering can when I'm ready to use.. E-Z-P-Z!

Currently experimenting with using bloombastic as a bloom booster instead of koolbloom.. will deff. share my results when done.

THANKS TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED TO THIS GREAT THREAD!:tiphat:

It's so easy a caveman can do it!!

What's your tap EC like? An how are you running the bloombastic 2ml/gal then up to 4?

This thread has inspired me to load my res with Maxi and tap water (Good quality). Read a parallel thread that made me decide not to premix and just dump it in. I have the pump circulating it through the medium and around, not a lot left that hasn't dissolved.

I'm only using 71 grams in a 12 gallon res as opposed to 84, but I'll bump it up when I see the plants do well with it.

This thread should be stickied! :)

i know most u guys on here are using maxi but im using v+b kiss and doin pretty good so far. switching to one part and running blumats really clears up your shedule and funds. keep up the good work everyone. its nice to see other people who dont buy into all the crazy additives and still get good results.
