Hello again,

OOO this thread is a mighty thick one. I know I found a description at least once but... can someone please tell me the different plant structures of thai vs. malawi vs. zamal?

I understand the Thai is the most lankey. Long internodes. Thinnest leaves. Long flowering.
Malawi. Wider leaves? More dense buds. Shorter internodes.
Zamal?

Thank you,

Update, still +- 50 days to go.2 outdoors girls.

I love these genetics. Today one of them had the most fresh orange juice aroma. Unbelievable. Like a super tropical IPA. The other more like fermented lemons.

I can't wait to test them and get destroyed haha:tiphat:

Yes, the zamal mum is semi auto flowering :) Flowering time would depend on pheno but something between 11-14 weeks. I did a grow report of the zamal mum at magus room a few years ago, go there and you 'll find her with a search ;)

Searched icmag and google but cannot find magus room, anyone have a link?

:tiphat: Hey Dubi! It has been a wild ride and I have learned alot. I estimate that I collected well over 4oz of pollen from 24 different males. Bucket collection and shear volume seemed to help isolate strains. I am just now applying pollen to labeled branches with brushes. Will be a bit of cross-contamination, but I hope to get ~90% accuracy.

In total from your lines, I used 3x Panama females (reg), 2x Panama males, 1x Malawi female (fem), 1x Malawi x PCK female (reg), 2x Zamaldelica males (reg), 1x Zamaldelica female (fem) & 1x Malawi x Panama female (fem) for this project. These are going to get crossed to each other in every way possible to create sativa hybrids. I am most excited to pheno hunt through Zamaldelica F2s and really see what pops up.

Also, I am incredibly interested in creating some powerhouse indica and sativa hybrids. Many people complain that modern very-high THC indica dom strains are indistinguishable in their "high" profile. They might taste different but the effect can be monotone. Zamal Cookies, Zamal Breath, Zamal Chem and Zamal Stardawg sounds so damn intriguing....

Hi WaterFarmFan,

So there are 2 directions in your goals (please correct me if i'm wrong). The first and current one: to increase as much as possible through recombination in open pollinations the chance to produce an outstanding sativa dominant hybrid based mainly on landrace genetics. Which is undoubtedly interesting.

The other goal would be to cross your favourite sativa phenotypes with more modern kush and afghan/skunk strains. Which is also laudable. I did produce excellent sativa dominant hybrids years ago by crossing for example pure zamals with skunk/haze/indica genetypes like with the original Sensi Seeds' Jack Flash release, getting the best from both worlds.

Amazing phenotypes can be found following both paths although you will be mainly producing unstable poly hybrids, which you won't certainly or exactly know their concrete genetic background, so they will be harder to stabilize in seed form after that. Most probably you will end up finding exceptional females which you will be able to keep in clone form to maintain the quality and predictability in future grows.

Thanks Dubi, I have her next to a pink flowering Panama and a Panama/Malawi. You guys have provided much growing joy to my life! They're all super healthy and thriving. They do get spoilt by me though haha

Ok, the Zam is kinda fruit candy not super strong in that department; there's the subtle carrot in there. I am hoping for the more psychedelic experience - what characteristics make up the elite pheno - effect wise? TIA

Hi nksv,

Glad our genetics are providing so much joy to your life :)
This kind of feedback really motivates us to continue working hard in our direction.

Zamaldelica elite mother (and the phenos leaning to her) are easy to recognize. Zamaldelica elite grows quite compact for a sativa, with strong side branching (pure Zamal kind of branching), short stretching in flowering, short/moderate flowering time for a sativa (approx 11 weeks), high resin production, great indoor adaptability, mid yielding and mid flower/leaf ratio.

Her terpene profile is also easy to recognize, it has a refined fruity candy like aroma, with mango, sweet carrots, sweet petals.

The effect is super well focused and clear, mood enhancing, uplifting, without being anxious or paranoid, just clarity, energy and blessing feelings, in contrast with the more caffeinic, thought provoking effects of the Zamal/Thai phenos which are more anxious/paranoid/scary, not psychologically warm like the elite, or in contrast also with the heavier and more narcotic effects of the more Malawi leaning phenos.

Hope it helps :) dubi

One of my Zamaldelica’s auto’d on me, using an 18 hour day.
Now I’m running my T-8’s on 24 and the big MH on 18 to see if she’ll reveg.

Hi Bjorn to farm,

If you found a semi autoflowering pheno that has started to flower with a growing photoperiod then cut the flowered tops and more flowered lower branches, transplant to bigger pot, increase light intensity, let the plant produce branching again in proper veg stage, then take clones from these new parts of the plant without flowers and replace the old flowered mother with new clones that are not flowering.

In the future try to avoid root bound or low light intensity to avoid this problem with this semi autoflowering parental plant.

Hope it helps!

Ahoy, growers. Zamal is getting close to being harvested.

I’ll try get better photos, lovely colours came out.

Looking down the microscope excites.

Also have a male maturing on a window sill. Pollen chucking ahead!

How does zamaldelica take to revenging? Looking to maybe keep a cutting.
Happy growing.

Always a pleasure seeing the plants getting posted here.

Have a male going full “houseplant”, flowering by a window. And have been collecting some pollen. Of the two, it was the more vigorous, so it’s got that trait, hopfully.
Any pointers as to phenotype or other traits to look out for? Stem gives woody, insense and tobacco smells.

Hi Nup,

What a beautiful female :) And a very interesting pheno, it's very close to Zamaldelica elite mother but with extra Thai touch that can be appreciated due to the reddish colors of her leaves in late flowering. Sorry for the delay in the reply but your female should be ready to harvest at this time.

The male looks like a Golden Tiger male, it's a Malawi/Thai pheno, but more Malawi dominant. Best wishes!

Hi all! Update and question...both of my Zamaldelicas are losing some of their fan and medium sized leaves due to yellowing.(like 4 or 5 a day). It's been like 10 days ago when I first noticed this started and I'm only at +- 25 days into flowering. No other bad signs so far. I've been feeding them bat guano (more than the usual dose, so I don't think it's lack of food) and they have fattened a lot. Also both of the plants are developing a couple of seeds each. What can it be?

:tiphat:

Hi sweet-emotion,

Unless the yellowing is very serious, it is not a bad thing in late flowering. But for future grows kindly make sure you are watering and feeding in the correct PH and EC range for soil. In your case looks like an underfeeding or PH unbalance. Anyway if you are in late flowering i wouldn't worry too much about to try to correct the soil at this stage. But consider it for future grows, you will increase a lot the quality and yield of your harvest.

Glad you are finding refined citric aromas of your taste in your Zamaldelicas ;)

Best wishes for the last days of flowering!

Excellent Zamaldelica pheno kickarse :) Really a nice blend of different traits coming from the 3 sativas involved in Zamaldelica. And quite good yielding too!

If you really like her effects and terpenes i would consider to keep clones for future grows! Enjoy her! :tiphat:

Hi Twoey,

Thanks for posting your Zamaldelica ;) It's without any doubt a Zamal/Thai pheno, with those beautiful, long and thin african pistils that even reminds me a lot the angolese, and the classic red stem thai trait.

Kindly check your PH and EC in your waterings and feedings because she is yellowing too much for this stage of flowering.

Best wishes for the rest of the flowering!

Thank you so much for the comment about the way she's growing Dubi, I was wondering which could be the cause of this premature yellowing of the leaves, Ph is 6,5/6,75 it seems ok to me, I don't have an EC meter, but you confirmed my doubts that it's due to my usual strichtness in giving them nitrogen, I will feed them during the next couple of watering and see what happen, I'm still into the process of dialing her and I feel that she's not a fussy eater as I supposed.
Anyway she's been a pleasure plant to grow and to enjoy, I love her electric and energetic mind-bending and tough-provoking high as you've already read in may previous posts. Now that I've used them for some time I think I understood what you mean when you say that the effect could be scary, you feel detatched, cold, and with an analitical mind-set and are focused on the effects, this united to their intensity could be quite... well... scary.
I'm really glad to know that she's a Zamal-Thai leaning. I too love her calixes and pistil's shape, they are elegant but posses also a mean look

I could hear them saying "look at me! I'm beatifull but beware!"
