I got a trifolate individual from my pack of zamaldelica as well, it was male however and not retained, as I found one I liked better. Pretty common with this line.

Hey DNM1, did you ever notice a skunky note to your panama or banji haze? My panama x banji haze has a definite skunkiness and I'm unsure of where those genes come from in this cross.

Hi F. Found "aroma profile" for PxBH
"Very complex sativa terpene profile: floral, musky, lemon, sweet carrots, aniseed and incense.... that combines the best african and central american sativa aromas"
May be you do detect a bit of "skunkiness",it wouldn't surprise me
Skunk is a "pungent smell", not an aroma....and,aroma we'll get when the girls are done. It's the way I look at it my friend

challenging!

challenging!

It looks terrible. To much fertilizer, to much water or get it into a bigger pot. Why did u pic Ace?
Buy a few easier strains to grow.

I’ve grown slightly over 30 strains and I found I really like the Sativa effects and I wanted to try something new.

The mother plant looks decent, she’s got some pretty big flowers. I did have a spider mite infestation but azadirachtin seemed to have taken care of it, but there were some plants too close to harvest for me to use it on them so I cleaned and treated everything else for about a month, and all plants and areas surrounding the flowering area are still getting treated. I’m working with a pretty small grow space.

At the time of the photo the plant had been in plain Roots Organic soil for about 3 weeks from cloning. It wasn’t getting too much distilled water and no additional fertilizer. I may have given it too much light, too early after cloning.

I had good luck with Ace’s feminized Congo, it grew well and the clones made good female pollen with colloidal silver, so that’s why I tried a couple other strains from Ace.

I’m just experimenting and learning. I’m just happy to be keeping the mother Zamaldelica healthy enough to be going through flowering, I’ll post a picture. She’s in Roots Organic with a small layer of hot soil at the bottom. I reduced the hot soil on her and a Dr. Grinspoon, because I didn’t want to over feed my first two very skinny leafed sativas.

Dr. Grinspoon grew, cloned and took well to the colloidal silver, but it’s leaves are nowhere near as fine and octopus like as the Zameldelica. I’m still working on just keeping the clone alive.

“I haven’t killed it yet!”
That’s my general gardening motto, also my motto for pets and children.

Thanks,
Roy

Selected zam male clone, getting ready to drop pollen for some pollen chucking experiments. Very small plant, in a pint size pot (solo cup size) This was the darkest and thinnest leaf in the pack. Also had surprisingly short innernode distances. I think this is indicative of a zam or Thai pheno, as the Malawi tends to lean wider in leaf? Would love opinions, but it could be too small to indicate the habit.

The Mom

The Mom

Here is the mother. She’s far from perfect, but she has been flowering about 70 days. I may not have watered her enough, so she might have gotten to much nitrogen and spider mites did naughty things to her, but I think they’re gone. I usually flush the hot soil a few times in the last week or two before harvest.

As I said above, I’m happy to just have gotten this far with such a cool and challenging plant . I’m hoping to get some pollen from the clone is it strengthens up. I took two clones but one died.

I don’t claim to know what I’m doing. I just keep learning new stuff.

Thanks for all help,
Roy

Nice Training!

The leaves are def showing clawing and burnt tips. She's way too green imho. I concur that she appears to be suffering from N toxicity. I am not really a soil grower so all I can say is check your feeding ph and feed less N. Aside from that I believe I have read repeatedly that N can build up in soil mediums. When I started out it was 1 feed then 2 plain waters weekly with periods of drying out in between. Are you watering to runoff and picking up the plant to see its gotten light before re watering?

What are you feeding? Ph?

I’m using Kind Soil and distilled water. It’s a hot soil and you layer it at the bottom of the pot. I use Roots Organic on top of it. It works great with Indica, hybrids and even some fairly high ratio Sativa hybrids. But with some of the very long flowering landrace , I’ve had problems. The roots primarily grow in the Roots Organic soil and just slowly surround the kind soil and feed off it. That usually works fine, but I think the long flowering sativas need much more space for the roots above the Kindsoil, and less nitrogen in general. So a bigger pot, more Roots Organic and less Kindsoil.

I consulted with the manufacture and they said experiment. I may have to grow these long flowering sativas differently. I’m just growing small plants to see if I like them so I can make female pollen and cross breed it with a few of my favorites, and also back cross some of the plants I really like. That’s my goal. I’ve gotten two decent female crosses so far. Ace’s Congo with WOS South African Kwazulu and Ace Congo with brothers Grimm Cinderella xx. Neither have flowered yet, but it’s a fun process. I just made a nice bunch of Dr.Grinnspoon female pollen I have a few plants I’d like fertilize with that.

Sorry, I got completely off track. Sorry.

Thanks for listening,
Roy

If you can feel what you think, then go down that route my friend

Yeah, I used Kind soil for one grow and experienced nutrient issues by the end of it. After that, I mixed my own soil, recycled all of my Kind soil into it, and I've been using that soil for several cycles without issues. I'd give anyone looking to use their soil a word of caution and instead recommend that they look into mixing their own soil.

Here is my flowering Zam from a fem seed. I dropped her into a cup of water on 11/8/19, and she popped out of the soil on 11/13/19. I transplanted her from a solo cup to a half gallon container on 12/2 and from there into a 25 gallon container on 12/28.

I reduced the light cycle from 13/11 on 1/19/20. I had previously reduced it to 15/9 a few days prior, and I made the final reduction to 11/13 on 1/26. I have a Purple Haze x Malawi in the same tent, and I was trying to give her some more time under a longer light cycle so I delayed in reducing to 11/13. I'm forecasting an April harvest.

She's been a breeze to grow! I have a few cuttings so if she's a keeper, I'll keep her!

Thanks, friend! Your lady is gorgeous! Did you let her grow naturally without training?
Hi B :) Thank you my friend
12/12 from seed, she came into my grow room late(had my hazes going, was missing a sativa:))
Normally I give my plants 18/6 for around 6 weeks, then they follow a similar regime like yours.
Had some issues, but all went away after her last re pot,and Dubi suggesting I cut down slightly her feed
They are easy to grow, don't push them, and, you'll end up with something very beautiful to look at :)

Started this indoor run the 23rd October 2019.Titled the thread/grow diary "sativa" without a single sativa seed in my procession
