Zack's Patch 2016

In a way, having a set amount of molasses added to the compost tea doesn't make sense to me. Depending on the type/quality of compost you're using you may want to use less than 10ml/5 gallons of tea...or you might want to use more. From what I understand, the compost you use is more important than anything else. Not saying MM is wrong, but just thinking out loud.

I'd just put in a small amount of molasses at first and see what you get.

If you're thinking about adding fish hydrosolate, I would add it at the end. I added it once and brewed for another 8 hours and my tea went anaerobic on me.

HB.

That makes sense to me and I believe mm says .5% is just a good starting point

I think I'm going to give them some of the fish just on its own or maybe with a little guano top dress as well and see how they respond. Going to go light

Hey do you have a thread going hemphrey? Or some pics of your garden I could check out

I used to have a thread here. I could post some pics of my little personal grow if you like, but be prepared to be unimpressed!

Please throw up some pics hemphrey! I would love to see what you've got going on. And don't worry about impressing anyone, we are all here to learn and there is always room for improvement. Unless you are Mendo420 haha... Jk I'm sure even he is always looking for ways to improve

Let me start off by saying I'm just a backyard farmer that likes to play with sativa/mostly sativa varieties. I don't sell weed or anything...I grow for myself and for one other person. I've got a good mix of varieties going which makes things interesting. I'm running no-till 20 gallon smart pots in front and also in the bed behind the pots. I mixed my own soil this year based loosely on Coot's mix. I'm currently running 2 Highland Mexican x Blueberry, 2 Punto Rojo, 2 Punta Rosa, 1 Space Monkey, 1 Joey Weed "mixed seed" from my old seed stash, uh...1 White Fire Alien, 1 Cherry Bomb, 2 Mango Haze x Afghan Haze (Mr Nice "Angel's Breathe"), 1 Reeferman Bodhi Sativa, and 1 Caligula by Reddy1 (Menage a Trois x who knows what)...and I think that about covers it...Everything is grown from seed.

With that said, prepare to be uninspired!!! lulz

Group shot:

White Fire Alien from OGR...got some pollen from a male and I'm going to use part of this plant to make seed. I loves me some wifi!

picture.php

This is probably my biggest plant, Reeferman's Bodhi Sativa (Thai x Cambodian x Burmese)...Not sure if this will finish before winter sets in, but it's just starting to show a few pistils, so I'm hopeful.

picture.php

Chimera's Highland Mexican x Blueberry...Took clones of this one and will use the white fire pollen to make seed...or I might try selfing it...

Well, that's about it...Nothing much to see, but it works for me. I'd post up more pics, but I don't want to tarnish your thread anymore than I already have.

Good luck on the rest of the season, zack. I'm pulling for you to have a great harvest.

Hey Zack garden looks great! Montana looks beautiful and your great grandpa sounds like a really cool dude. A Man's Man.

If the wife would go for it I would sell the house here in so-cal and move to Alaska and build/ have built a log cabin. Had the opportunity to go years ago and never wanted to leave.

Good luck on harvest brother!

FWIW, I try to feed heavier and heavier little by little. The strains I grow are all heavy feeders.

I've found people tend to err on the side of caution with feeding, but I see much more nutrient deficiencies these days than I do burns.

Daaamn hemphrey your garden kicks ass man! You have some really nice looking plants there dude. Should give you plenty of delicious sun grow organic buds to smoke on throughout the year.

And awesome variety, I've never heard of some of those strains. Sounds great though. That wifi alien looks beautiful, those pics inspired the hell out of me lol

Honestly, thanks for sharing! Your garden is more than worthy of a thread of its own hemphrey. You got skills man. Good luck finishing up the season. Almost there!

Hey stinky! Thanks for stopping by. Montana was awesome, I loved how peaceful and quiet it was. I'm not sure I could move away from cali though, I love the ocean and being able to go to music festivals too much.
Your garden is absolutely gorgeous man!

wow wow wow! I would love this setup in my backyard. :) very nice garden.

Hey thanks! Unless you were referring to hemphrey's beautiful garden. In which case, I agree, his plants are indeed very nice!

I have a feeling you are right, I was unsure how big my plants would get in their 60 gallon pots so I was cautious about over feeding. All I've given them is a little kelp meal, a little fish hydrosylate, some agsil, little fulpower and a few ACT's. Oh and I top dressed some bat guano last week

I sprayed greencure again for the second time. Just prevention now, the first application wiped out the pm.
Weather is definitely changing, been having some real cool nights and mornings.

Haven't seen any caterpillars yet, I sprayed BT on the last two full moons and will again on the next. Need to keep working on supporting these lanky bitches and pruning out dead leaves inside the plants. October is coming up quick!

Of course right when I say I haven't seen any caterpillars yet, I find some chomping on my citrus sap the next day lol

I picked up some spinosad and sprayed last night

Here's a citrus sap cola that had a caterpillar on it. Look closely and you can see some poo stuck on the leaves lol. Sorry about the shitty photos, I only have a little bit of time to water and snap a couple pics before it's off to the daily grind every morning

Here's some bud shots. Nothing like the stuff the pro's are posting, but they should turn out pretty tasty if I can keep the pm and mold from taking over. They are yellowing early but I have been trying to feed them without overdoing it

The one main thing I would have done differently if I could go back to the beginning of the year is I would test my soil and water. My home mixed cootz did pretty well, but did leave me with some deficiencies and pm issues.
I feel with a more balanced soil I could have had much healthier plants. Although, I am more than happy with what I got

The other thing I would have done differently is larger pots. Sour d, citrus sap and kosher kush all outgrew their pots and are, I'm sure, pretty root bound. I've definitely learned a ton this year

This plant has really impressed me, fast growth, good structure, and super greasy buds.

Its honestly one of the craziest smelling plants I've ever come across. At first it was really orangey and dank smelling. Now it has turned into a really strange chicken grease smell... I know thats sounds really weird and I thought I was crazy at first. But then last week my girl was helping me in the garden and asked why that plant smells like chicken! LOL at least I know it wasn't just me. Confirmed fried chicken smell coming from my buds. But in a good way hahaha
