There's always one asshole neighbor who writes you a letter to complain about your burn pile ... instead of telling you on the Day Of - in which case you extinguish it immediately.

You feel a need to buy a gas powered water pump.

How many people in suburbia or the city buy gas powered water pumps ? I guess if you wanted to bail out a flooded basement and the power was out.

my grandmother used to fix squirrel dumplings etc with gravy & all. my grandfather always got the heads, LOL! it was interesting to watch him crack the skull with the handle of a butter knife & dig the brains out with a fork. he lived to be 88 on a diet that most would swear will kill you in 3 or 4 years...:)

I hear Squirrel Brains are bigger than Chicken Brains.

Ever seen Squirrel Brains on the Hors D'Ouvres at the reception after a country wedding ? Like Squirrel Brains on Wheat Thins. Or Triscuits.

think I'll stick to cream cheese.

Wow, just found this thread, only read a couple pages and havent stopped laughing. Heres a few close to my heart. You might be from the country if....
...you knew haw and gee before left and right.
...you have a family photo where everyone is posing with an organ.
...you've ever used baling twine as a belt.
...every time you see someone jogging, you think the cows/sheep musta got out.

My grandfather used to take the chewed nut contents (usually hickory nuts in these parts) out of the stomachs and add it to the squirrel gravy. It adds a nutty taste. Yummy.

You throw your favorite pet off a cliff to help it do its job better.

I have about a 13 month old rooster. He has a fantastic disposition, tries to sell every food morsel he finds to the hens before he eats it himself.

I figure it's a little like making someone do a quick 10 reps on the military press as soon as they get up.

Flying is not his strong suit. So far it's more like a controlled descent, he's not dropping down and then flying up again.

turkeys definitely fly. wild turkeys.

I set up about a 30 gallon tank on the edge of my house - driveway, which is about a 1/2 acre plateau on a larger hill/ mountain.

Last year one day it was like the turkeys were holding a convention. 20+ turkeys enjoying the water tank.

Most of the time it's just 5 to 10. If I move too fast for their liking they will take to the air. Whether it's to fly over a small cliff next to the house, or just to fly over the fence. Occasionally to fly up the hill.

Rope is getting SO FVCKING EXPENSIVE. I am beginning to start using baling wire where once I would have used rope.
