Yogurt Cup Challenge

I checked the calendar and this was actually day 64. Trichs looked good enough to harvest so she came down. A pic. with all of the fan leaves gone, a couple of root shots, buds on a plate and weight. I only have an old mailer scale and it uses ozs. and tenths of ozs. 28 grams to an ounce, so one tenth of an ounce equals 2.8 grams. Got 2.6 ozs. wet of trimmed buds only, no fan leaves. That comes out to 72.8 grams wet, subtract about 75% and the dry weight should be around 18 grams of trimmed bud. All fan leaves are gone and I trimmed the bud but left on some sugar trim because I'm not making hash. :yeahthats
wish i could, bigups to lemon for the win, thanks to everyone who participated for your efforts and good vibes! thanks to the spectators wandering through our little yogi cup micro container world for not callin us crazy... :)_

my buddah's sister yielded about 2.5 grams, the flo x grimm (reaper) yielded 5 grms. both are tasty, and probably could have been chopped a week or so earlier than i did.

Thanks Avi. The thing that impressed me the most about the grow was the yield I got using the hempy method. Hempy said that he got as much as 19 ozs. using a 2.5 gallon bucket and I believe it. If I could get nearly 16 grams from a 6oz. container I believe you could get very large yields from a 2.5 gallon container, which is 53 times larger. The quality was just as good as my larger grow of the same strain, so overall I was very impressed and I will use the hempy method for my regular grows. You could also easily use organic nutes if you wanted to go that way and I'm sure the results would be impressive.
So this was definitely a valuable learning experience for me. I was afraid to maybe waste a spot in my regular grow trying a new method that might have turned out to be a waste of valuable growing space; so this challenge allowed me to try something I ordinarily would not have tried. All around great experience.

I would like to do it again but for now I'm going to have to bow out. It looks like we may be moving for a period of several months for work. If that's the case I will not be growing because of where we would have to go for the work; it's at the belt buckle of the bible belt. I think those folks still stone people for what they consider moral offenses; which I know they think smoking mj is a moral offense.
Man going there after living in the Evergreen State is going back to the stone ages as far as marijuana goes after living in Mj Oz. If it happens, it's going to be stressful as hell for me not being able to grow. It's my release and my passion.
I had planned another grow starting in a few weeks and I could have thrown in a yogi cup or two but now that is on hold until we find out if we are going out there. If we do it's a no go for me. I'll still follow along though and offer encouragement when I can.

Thanks for asking my in put,
but I'm a nobody. That wont stop me though... smile...

Well, it would be cool for everyone to be on the same page. I'd pay for 2 to 4 (or more) seeds of quality to make it a real contest. I loved what you grew. Those were gorgeous. This is the problem that I see. If one person has a giant strain, and the rest normal, you can grow your heart out and not be in the runnig no matter how well of a grower you are. That wasn't my last problem last time. I just dropped the dropped ball and came up short trying a new style of growing (which I figured out...). Still, it'd be way cool to do an all in contest. We'd need a time limit to entering though, but its an idea.

No matter what everyone wants and decides, I'm in.

A further idea, could be a strain grower interested cutting a deal for the contest. I don't know if that would fly though. Could be a can of worms. I don't think of those legal things. Hell I grew illegally ages ages. Why would I start caring now?

That's a pretty good idea Small time. There are so many folks here chunking pollen that it shouldn't be too hard to find a willing donor.

I would think something could be worked out with Clarence. Say 5 seeds per entrant, $10 to the Bay ($8 shipping and a couple extra as a thank you).

100 seeds would be good for 20 people, which would be record participation. Extras could just go out as freebies.

Shit - Id donate them myself. It doesn't really matter if anyone wants the cross or not - its just for yogi cup fun.

I"m up for whatever you guys want to do.

I think getting seeds through an intermediary is going to significantly lengthen the start process and before long folks are going to be thinkin' outdoor.

That's not a 'no', just the reality of the suggestion and timing.

You have a point, and I do have some Big Bud seeds. If all I wanted to do was win, versus learning, I'd have gone straight to Big Bud. You do have a point though about time constrains. I just grow indoors and small at that, so hadn't thought of the time issues for others.

seeds only? ALRIGHT! Auto-flower allowed? Eh, others can, I'm sticking with a straight up grow and flower. Or we could make a time constraint and no autos. Do ya go with a crop or not? Lots of ways to have fun.

I was thinking NO autoflowers... just to even the field a lil bit... autos are kinda MADE for what we are doing, seems kinda like cutting corners to use a strain that doesn't depend on photoperiod.... just my opinion....

well, i'll give it a few more days of discussion here and then will post up new thread for new yogi cup challenge.
