I agree 100%. Most likely a pathogen is causing health decline over time. The DNA doesn’t change though. Like someone mentioned earlier and the question never got answered, if you bred with that same plant, would the outcome of the seeds be different genetically. And the answer is clearly no because as you said, that degradation is not genetic drift.
