Whos got the best Afghan?

This one has my interest. They say it's a 70s Mazar. One of the very few varieties they still do as regs too.

I grew 2 I got as freebies a few years back, alongside 2 afghan kush from world of seeds. The Barney's male hermied on me so I used the ak male and made some ak f2s plus a hashplant x ak.

I'm growing out two of the hashplant cross at the moment, although I've done some other crosses with the ak father before and not been overly impressed. He seems to have brought lowered potency although that's based on limited, small plant number grows. Still, thought I'd try this cross as I'm looking for some good sleep weed and a nice mid potency stone might be good for that.

So far my main observation is growth is very slow, probably the slowest vegging I've seen in a long time, though that may be because I mainly grow sativas. Nodes are tight as fuck though and leaves are nice and green. One has shown female as well which is nice, I'll pot her on and get some photos early next week.

I grew three fem World of Seeds AK outdoors in 4 gallon pots in 2019. Actually produced quite well for someone who really didn’t know what the fuck he was doing at the time lol

Strength was fine, effects more suited to nighty-night time, flower taste was meh - but I almost always prefer hash to flower so there’s that.

Having “graduated” to The Real Seed Co and Baaba Qo selections since then I doubt I’d revisit the AK. But it wasn’t horrible.

Update on the Baaba Qo Mazar-I-Sharif versus TRSC Panjshir competition - finally getting some sun here in the Armpit of Cape Cod, so seeing some healthy growth. Everything this year is very slow to sex, two out of the four Mazari are confirmed female but that’s it so far. The plants suffered some bug damage from earwigs but a soy sauce-canola oil trap eliminated most of them. I never get too upset with bugs anyway as I’m of the opinion that being challenged a little bit is good for the end result.

Mazari are averaging 64” and the Panjshir 68” but we have weeks of stretching to go. Thought the Mazari would be a bit larger but the cloudy rainy spring held them back. Don’t think I’ll see any 10-footers from either. Which is fine as some of the Himalayas I’m also growing are already 10+ feet and might hit 15 feet, so I will have my ladder work cut out for me.

Mazari, check out the weird variegated leaves on one of the females -

Sounds like an inbred indica (afghanica) alright.

Gorgeous plants.. This is textbook late stage Mag deficiency. It does look like it's already been fixed. Most of those leaves should recover in time.

Here's a few shots of the first Afghan hashplant X afghan kush to show female and get potted on. She's got tight nodes - think we're up to 7 or 8 - but she's only around 6inches high. Starting to space out a bit now but still very close together. Not really noticing much of a smell yet, the telltale AK dad odour is an orangy tang to the buds so I'll have to wait for a bit and see if that shows up. She'll stay in veg, as will her sibling, until space in the flower tent opens up, which could be a while yet.

Few more of my cross as she waits to go into flower. She'd be in there already but she's got some thrips and its worse in flower tent so I want to get that under control first to give her the best chance of making some good buds.

Excuse the substrate on the leaves - its from predatory mites being applied directly onto the plant. I'm also spraying with chilli and soap spray now after giving the mites a chance.

She'll go in as the first plant to do a full run under my new light - I'm hoping she does me proud

Five years ago ohso gave me some of the aitr beans. The ones I grew in pots indoors, not so good. The ones I grew in soil outdoors, all turned out to be heavy hitters. Stoned to the bone, with a big stupid grin, I could not shake. Some even felt trippy. Maybe, some plants don't like to be out of their element. They were never grown in pots, in the middle east. More like wide open spaces with lots of sun. I'd kill for some more of those seeds to do it all over again. Has anyone seen Ohso online anywhere ? Did anyone make more ?

Don't know if anybody's mentioned Bob Hemphill's Crickets and Cicadas seeds yet, maybe I already did. They've got a few different versions of the hashplants from the 80s and 90s including the original Northen Lights. I picked up 90s Sensi Star x Puck BX3 and Purple Hindu Kush x M10 last winter. Puck is also called the Skully hashplant, I'm no expert on who's grown what strain where but I think it's Nevil's hashplant strain from the 80s. I believe Hemphill's been backcrossing it for the original traits. Looking forward to seeing how the hybrid comes out. Here's a look at mine.

Their Purple Hindu Kush is what it's called, a purple Afghan from the Kush mountains. It's not a 'Kush' in the modern sense of the word, which is a hybrid western type. The Purple Hindu Kush from the 90s was some of the best stuff I've ever smoked. Big purple nugs that tasted like sweet hash with instant expando smoke that crushed your lungs. Went for $350 an ounce and was worth it. The M10 is the same as Afghan #1, it's suppose to be the real deal. Here's a look at my biggest one.

The version I got was much older. Prob 8-10 years ago. Ive grown a few of his. I never found anything potent. I would guess all were around 12-15% max THC.

Hello everyone, some tof from balo x maruff , ideal for extraction , the photos show the leafiest phenotypes but there are more compact phenos ( that I crossed with my best balkh f4, and ouzbé f15 ).
All have strong notes of toluene, essence, citrus, lavender, cider.
The most compact phenos stung strongly, made me cough when I sniffed them, and were oily to the touch.
