it's this time of year i realize that only a small (~10%) percentage of outdoor is quality, the rest is straight garbage...or looks good but sprayed to death

You guys believe that shit? Perhaps you should take a look at power rates in OR, NV, AZ (the three states that border CA). Power rates in ALL of those states are FAR LESS than the CARE rate.
Perhaps the real truth is that ALL Californians are being fucked in order to pay for the Grey Davis / Enron multi-BILLION dollar fleecing of Californians.

but Washinton is where it's at. Industrial power is only 4cent/kwh... that's less than 1/3rd what industrial in CA is. 100 lighter could be <$8,000/month.

CARE is simply a welfare program base on income and household size and the poor folks receive a 30-35% discount on the utility bills...period.You guys believe that shit? I don't hijack my electricity and I pay my bill each month--but I do take advantage of the "time of use" tariff that saves me a few benjamins each month--cheaper rates at off hours, expensive rates during peak hours. To do otherwise (perjure myself for CARE or steal power), IMHO is "risky business".

I would say CARE is a way for CA to fuck everyone to the maximum. If you can't afford the 400% fucking of their standard rates (compared to AZ NV OR) then they'll only fuck you 150% with CARE.
SINCE their electricity is a MONOPOLY they can FUCK everyone, your CARE neighbors are just fucked a little less.
As I said if you pay them full freight then you are the patsy paying off ENRON and Grey Davis, NOT subsidizing your CARE neighbors (they are already paying 150%+ the true cost of retail power).
If you want to express your anger do so at the state and those corporations that the STATE granted a MONOPOLY.

Got no anger...I understand "robin hood" (take from the have and give to the have nots) aka as "income redistribution"...or as I call it "asset redistribution". But I also have assets that I am not willing to risk....but more important, I have "pride", not willing to accept welfare, charity, hand-outs, govt freebies, etc.; some call it "beating the system". To that I say, "go for it if you want to be poor", but I prefer a life-style with plenty of assets and benjamins (race to the top); the "race to the bottom" means you gotta stay poor to continue getting free shit/welfare/handouts/CARE/etc. Choice between stack of benjamins and "beating the system"; I'll take the benjamins.
BTW...Enron, wasn't that a decade or so ago....same era as Motorola Startac cell phones? Which were great phones--except those fucking antennas--they always broke if you messed around/bent them too much--probably replaced a dozen or so while I had my Startac....LOL! So...how much did Enron debacle/scam/bankruptcy cost you? What was you loss?

You really have no clue do you? It is greed which has lowered the price so that those who truly need it can afford it.
I think I'm officially tired of people saying 'oooooh greedy growers! They grow too much pot! It isn't fair!'
It's a business like any other. The fact that it's a business is the only reason quality has continued to increase, the only reason high quality concentrates have become available, the only reason prices continue to drop and THE ONLY REASON IT'S BEING LEGALIZED.
You say greedy, I hear motivated. If 'greedy' people weren't interested in making money, modern medicine would still be in the 1960s.
Also, greedy is not the same as unethical. Obviously those spraying week 4 plants with Avid are dirtbags.
It's a business like any other. The fact that it's a business is the only reason quality has continued to increase, the only reason high quality concentrates have become available, the only reason prices continue to drop and THE ONLY REASON IT'S BEING LEGALIZED.

I completely agree about what greed means.
Of course the price is going to fall in the general marketplace as cannabis becomes legal.
But there's a special place for organic & pure flowers of the highest quality which surely would be considered an "artisan"product. Just as increasingly Americans will pay premiums in limited markets for coffee, wine of course, micro brews, even hamburgers.
And those who use sprays and various adulterants/poisons highlight exactly the point as said above; unethical behavior is always the partner to " greed". No one ever was against making a buck in America!
That would be bad for business! Without highly motivated people we wouldn't even be able now to even muse over such topics. But there has to be balance and an appreciation for ethics coupled with motivation.
Sorry for giving the wrong impression. I just think real master experienced and honest growers who produce the still pretty hard to find outside of their circle gourmet world class product don't disappear in a legalized environment, but are part of a much larger industry and are paid accordingly.
