Who Dat's 1k Round 2 - Fall/Winter 2011

Nice lookin budz! What's a pH meter? ~mgd

*edit* if you're interested in 5 gallon buckets, check out my current grow, there's a link below :) These may have been the 5 gallon buckets that heady mentioned cc1 uses. I don't think he has any but I do use them.

I'm sure that the pH could be off too but can you answer my original question of how you are supposed to measure pH with only the test strips when the solution isn't clear to begin with. With the run off being brown or discolored already then how can you test according to color?

Not at all, I genuinely want to know how to do that as I don't know. I appreciate your input. I made it a point to go and dig up a rapidtest pH meter that I had forgotten I had. I used it on 3 or so plants and didn't see much deviation from 7. They ranged from probably 6.8 to 7. I stuck the probe as deep as it would go to try and get to the center of the root mass. Still pretty clueless over the pH deal. I'm always down to learn but I also can't lose sleep over not being sure of pH either.

hello. well, thats good, you go right into the rootmass :)
personally i dont know this meter/test.

if it measure correctly its not too bad!! 6,8 in soil is really ok.
well then, my points may have been wrong and you are really lacking of N, which i find hard to believe, but possible! it also depends on the strain, some crosses are hungry as hell, especially in early/mid flower..

all the best,

:yeahthats

That's why I generally drive pretty hard with the N up 'til about week 5 or so. My understanding of organic gardening tells me that the plant won't take up N it doesn't need, which make sense, since I've never seemed to push it too hard.

Always seems like its safer to go with too much than too little in this regard. :) Dirt = forgiving

Thanks for the kind words everybody. The plants are starting to smell pretty pleasant as well. Trichome production is really cool right now too. The banana kush is just looking retarded and barely glancing a cola will leave you with some sweet smelling, greasy resin wherever the cola made contact. The same could be said for the bubblegum and I swear that some days it does in fact smell like bubble gum, like a big wad of bazooka joe or something. The purple voodoo has a pleasant smell but when gently squeezed explodes with a piney dominant aroma. I'm looking forward to the purple that is creeping in to swallow the buds now too, can't be too far off - a week at most I'd imagine. Herijuana smells kind of hashy and the cough has an old fruit sort of smell. While pulling the plants out of the tent and pulling off old dying and dead fan leaves the Headband let out a smell of sour diesel and the calyxes on it are really starting to swell everywhere.

Thanks for sticking your head in ya'll. I hate to be pessimistic but I feel like these things are going to fall short of my expectations. I wasn't hoping for the lottery jackpot but I feel like these girls should have swollen some more than they have been? I keep comparing flowering day X of this run to flowering day X of last run with the 400 and they seem to have always been neck and neck in size. Trich production is wayyyyyyy better though so at least I have that going. Am I jumping the gun too soon at day 43 of flower? Would appreciate any feedback, thanks.

Wait...

60 days is pretty common. :2cents:

Thanks for the input but I wasn't speaking of the chop date but more of their current progress at day 43 compared to my possibly skewed perspective of where I would hope they would be now. I was hoping for a third person perspective in this regard. I definitely plan on letting these broads go the distance. Not scared of 70+ days. The herijuana I want all amber and just excessively "down" type weed.
