These two have been playing regularly in the background when I'm working around the house. Great performances in both films.

Loads there to see. What a life that guy had. Tragic his death, all the risks he took and dies just like that young star trek guy in a freak accident. Just does not seem right.

Take care guys.

It's on espn here and I don't have cable. Checking the score on my phone. 5th inning 3-0!!! Eovaldi didn't choke. Any good snacks man? What you smoking on?

No snackaroos right but I'm puffing on bubba in my arizer solo at a low temperature. Bragging rights are gonna be huge for whoever wins lol.

the WWII hardcore drama, Come and See (1985) has also been added.
supposedly a little too realistic.

LowFalutin No problem. If you like those ones, I have a 2 or 3 more Russian titles you might like. And if I might say so, your library has a pretty good selection lol.

About "Come and See", buckle up because its an intense ride!!

Miami boat ramps on youtube. It's just some guys that sit at the boat ramp with a video camera talking shit about people that don't know how to trailer a boat. Occasionally people sink trucks.

I also recommend boats vs. haulover inlet

Nat'l Geographic show filmed in 1977 (before Nat'l Geographic went full-tilt white-trash cable tv), re. the 4 fellows who built a huge log raft after hiking the Chilkoot Pass, and floated the lakes and Yukon River that was the path followed by the gold-seekers in 1898.

The rafters & their crew went through Carcross Yukon, as well as Whitehorse, Yukon, but other than a fleeting reference to the old Caribou Hotel in a conversation on the raft, there's no footage of those stops, though for a bit they had docked to the bank in front of the Hippie School near Carcross.

The average age in the Yukon Territory when this footage was shot was about 23 yrs old; and, if I recall correctly, the population in the Territory was about 23,000; a good number of old-timers, but a whole lot of young people seeking something different.

It was a good time to be there, and an amazing place to be.

Edit: It's not in the 'documentary', but when they reached Carcross, the raft wouldn't fit under the 2 bridges (road and railroad), so the raft was disassembled, and reconstructed afterward, on the other side of the bridges, before traveling down what we more commonly referred to as Nares Lake (beneath Nares Mountain), which is technically a part of Tagish Lake. It was after the reconstruction that they briefly tied up at the bank near the Hippie School (Carcross Community Education Centre).

There's also no footage of Marsh Lake, the head-waters, to some degree, of the Yukon River.

Additionally, they skipped including footage of Miles Canyon, an amazingly beautiful spot on the Yukon River, just south of Whitehorse, YT.

Post edit edit: Oh, it's narrated by Jimmy Stewart, as an extra special kick in the ol' pants. ;^>)

just finished How I Ended…
reminded me of Soderbergh, in both plot and image, when he’s making one of his slower, more artful movies.
leviathan, as well as “the russian woodpecker”, are now ready for me to pick up at the biblio.

longer wait for “come and see”, as it’s still in high demand.
please pass on any other russian reccos you may have.

watched ben wheatley’s Down Terrace last night- a kitchen sink dramedy, with teeth.
liked it a bit better than his A Field in England (‘shrooms and magicks) and Free Fire.
both good, but DT is kind of amazing, turning what is usually ken loach/mike leigh territory on its head.
ben’s Kill List and Sightseers are in my queue, but a bit more wait for those.

LowFalutin Lets see...

The Return (2003) - Story of two Russian boys who's father returns home after 12 years.

9th Company (2005) - Russia's "Full Metal Jacket." It follows a group of soldiers from boot camp to Afghanistan in the 80's.

The Dawns Here Are Quiet (2015 version) - About an all female unit of anti-aircraft gunners during WWII, who have to go up against a group of experienced German saboteurs.

I'm finishing up "Goliath" starring Billy Bob Thornton. I think it's pretty well written.
Prior to that I watched "Roadies"
Prior to that "Dave"
I think all 3 of these were pretty solid
