If we have no healthcare, we’ll have more doctors sitting around waiting for patients. Whatever dude.

Turning healthcare over to career politicians who become multi millionaires on a $175k salary seems like a viable option to you?

i keep seeing folks saying this. it is simple mathematics. if you make $175 grand a year, and work ten years without blowing your cash on cocaine & hookers, you ARE a millionaire, and a MULTI-millionaire if you invest even half-ass decently. WTF? here is a better question- why would someone that CLAIMS to be a billionaire run for an office that only pays $250 k a year & "donate" his salary? because he is making MUCH bigger bucks on his corruption...

Does Taiwan have things like the AMA and other lobbyist who work to keep healthcare costs high?
Nope, they have Universal Healthcare in Taiwan.

Turning healthcare over to career politicians who become multi millionaires on a $175k salary seems like a viable option to you?
That's not what single payer healthcare is. The govt collectively pays the bill, that's all.

The waste and fraud seen in medicare magically goes away once they control all healthcare?
Medicare is more efficient than the private market. What you're saying is just false here.

The shortage of doctors and other healthcare professionals gets better with more access to healthcare?
This is why immigration is a good thing and should not be demonized. Also I'd look into many doctor concerns over the beurocracy of the private insurance companies. Many get fed up with it and leave the US to practice elsewhere.

Do you believe someone's labor or services is a human right... you know like that whole schtick about healthcare being a human right?
Yes. Healthcare is not traditional labor, nor is education and both are rights. Do you also get mad that taxpayers pay for public schooling for all in the area to attend?

Without more doctors shortages are inevitible which in turn means politicians and bean counters will be forced to ration care. You comfortable with those folks making healthcare choices for you?
We already ration care in the US and 30,000+ per year die because of it.

I think that to a large extent it depends on what one's goals are.
The best situation for one individual - or what is over all best for our society.
The insurance racket is exactly that, a racket and they do indeed use bean counters to ration care. I do believe that we would all be better served with a national not for profit healthcare system.
The expenses would immediately reduced by a third simply by reducing the paperwork and the number of people needed to process it.
A shortage of MDs is a classic example of the old boys network hard at work to prevent any change of their privileged status.
I do admire the racket that the powers that be created for the medical industry, but it does not serve the average person well at all.
It obviously no longer even serves MDs so well any more, one theme repeated over and over in medscape is how MDs can escape from the "system" they are trapped in.
That Taiwan has had the results it does with the virus at 700 dollars per person is what I define as stunning value relative to our system. No, they do not have to deal with an army of the most highly paid lobbyists in the world. Major advantage of a not for profit system. I like the idea of the money actually being spent on health care as opposed to health care lobbyists, bean counters, and attorneys that go hand in hand with the insurance racket.

Coronavirus vaccine won't free you from self-isolation, says UK Government
The jabs provide Covid-19 immunity but scientists are yet to prove this prevents recipients from carrying and spreading the virus
By Gordon Rayner, Political Editor 3 December 2020 • 7:00pm
The Telegraph, London
=====

People who receive the coronavirus vaccine will not be exempted from self-isolation if they are contacted by NHS Test and Trace, it has emerged. Although the vaccine will give recipients immunity from the virus, scientists do not yet know whether it will stop them being carriers. Government sources said it was likely to be months before there was any prospect of the vaccine negating the need for self-isolation. It means that even if someone has been vaccinated, they will still have to remain at home for 14 days if they come into contact with someone who has the virus.

A Government source said: “People who get vaccinated will have to stick to the same rules as everyone else because we don’t know if it stops people being carriers and passing the virus on to others. “It will take a long time to work out what effect on transmission the vaccine will have. “We will have to be at a point where a sizeable portion of the population has been vaccinated before we have that evidence.”

The news will be a blow to workers in the NHS, care homes and elsewhere who had hoped that once they had received the vaccine they would be able to work without the risk of having to self-isolate. It will increase the pressure on the Government to speed up the rollout of mass testing to replace the need for self-isolation. A pilot scheme which is being trialled in Liverpool allows contacts of people who have tested positive for the virus to have tests every day instead of going into self-isolation. If they test negative seven days in a row they are given the all-clear.

The Government’s intention is to roll out the scheme nationwide in January if the pilot is deemed to be a success, meaning it will be mass testing, not vaccination, that will hold the key to ending the need for self-isolation. It will depend, however, on the availability of many millions of lateral flow tests, which give results from a swab in less than 30 minutes. Mr Johnson hopes that more than 500 million of the tests will be available by mid-January.

Any other vaccine that might be approved by regulators, such as the one being developed by Oxford University, will also be subject to the same lengthy process of discovering whether it prevents people being “silent” carriers of the virus. Jonathan Van-Tam, the deputy chief medical officer, said on Wednesday: “We don't know if this vaccine will prevent transmission, or any of [the vaccines]. “We have to wait for the science to tell us if it will prevent transmission, though we are very hopeful on that point. “We also have to be patient to see the real live effects on transmission and hospitalisations and deaths, and until we see that as scientists, we can't then scope what the likely impact is going to be on bringing this pandemic to an early end.”

Of the vaccines, the Oxford should be the safest. But its not covid that kills people. Its the immune systems reaction that kills people. These vaccines are indistinguishable from the virus itself to the immune system, which is how they work. What I don't know is why the immune system should react differently from the vaccine to the way it reacts to the virus infection.

BBC:
Biden to ask Americans to wear masks for 100 days

US President-elect Joe Biden has said he will ask Americans to wear masks for his first 100 days in office to curtail the spread of coronavirus.

He told CNN he believed there would be a "significant reduction" in Covid-19 cases if every American wore a face covering.

Mr Biden also said he would order masks to be worn in all US government buildings.

The US has recorded 14.1 million cases and 276,000 deaths from Covid-19.

What did Biden say about masks?
Mr Biden said: "The first day I'm inaugurated to say I'm going to ask the public for 100 days to mask. Just 100 days to mask, not forever. One hundred days.

"And I think we'll see a significant reduction if we occur that, if that occurs with vaccinations and masking to drive down the numbers considerably."

"I'm going to issue a standing order that in federal buildings you have to be masked," he said.

Constitutional experts say a US president has no legal authority to order Americans to wear masks, but Mr Biden said during the interview he and his Vice-President Kamala Harris would set an example by donning face coverings.

The president's executive authority does cover US government property, and Mr Biden told CNN he intended to exercise such power.
He added: "Transportation, interstate transportation, you must be masked, airplanes and busses, et cetera."

US airlines, airports and most public transit systems already require all passengers and workers to wear face coverings.

The Trump White House has rejected calls from American health experts to mandate masks in transportation as "overly restrictive".

Had we done this earlier (say March-June) hospitals likely would have not been at 95% capacity. It's still going to be a dark winter, and those refusing to wear a mask will probably carry COVID to their family/friends.

Will we all get free masks? Like the blue paper ones so many wear that contain toxic PTFE's?

looks like you enjoy spreading unfounded bullshit.

only thing i could find to partly substantiate what you claim here was one random study (20 subjects) that looked at wearing n95 masks (which make a seal) for long periods by health care workers.

please provide evidence that wearing an ordinary cloth mask can cause hypercapnia.

Why would a truck driver, driving on their own, be wearing a mask?
Kind of like wearing a condom whilst sleeping alone.

And if the masks make people sleepy, someone better tell all the surgeons doing operations that they’ve got it all wrong.

... and that folks is what happens when you try to rush science. The accelerated pace this vaccine was developed can be attributed to the advances in technology etc...

Tests and studies OTOH, take time, and that is what the experts say. The world is in crisis... what normally takes 10-15yrs in some cases 25 to achieve, is expected to occur within a calendar year? Yeah right!

I am not naive enough to say that the long times mentioned here contain a certain amount of bureaucracy, similar to what union employees do, always keep the work ahead of you.

That being said... because the large outcry (world wide) for a vaccine, has rushed the normal protocols to take place, and because, wearing masks and continued isolation, is an exercise of *due diligence, because at this point in time, they do not know how efficient the vaccine "really" is, nor how much protection is an individual receiving. It is "believed" that if the individual gets reinfected, the disease won't be as debilitating/ed but, at a minimum (at this point in time) the anti bodies don't last, more importantly, they don't know what that means! You can't serve wine before its time.

*due diligence ~ doesn't apply here as they are not liable by law (the whole mechanism).

diligence...
noun. constant and earnest effort to accomplish what is undertaken; persistent exertion of body or mind. Law. the degree of care and caution required by the circumstances of a person.

Ummm, I believe the intent of that directive, means at all Interstate transactions. e.g pit stops, weigh stations etc... where you are in close proximity of people.

Science has advanced since the polio vaccine. We have new tools. A better understanding of viruses. Better understanding of dna/rna. We developed new flu vaccines every year.
Better communication. It played no small part that the Chinese quickly broke the genetic code of C-19 and shared it with the world.
Other than a high number of trial participants and those in the medical research field working 24/7, nothing has been fast tracked. Warp speed was only a marketing plow. We are just better at it.

Right, so you’d put the mask on when you get to those places- not while driving?

If you’re referring to the novel “Spanish Flu” of 1918 with a mortality rate of 2.5%, then I would agree. It’s important to remember that covid’s mortality rate is a function of healthcare capacity. As healthcare facilities become overwhelmed, covid’s mortality increases.

Not trying to be insulting, but you don’t seem to have the knowledge/understanding of a medical doctor. Why did you choose your moniker?

so far Americans have taken 10 months to learn the lessons China learned in February 2020.

you want to be protected in an indoor space with lots of Virus particles, you got to cover your eyes, too.

Maybe Biden will get a clue, though so far we are hearing about more of the same, 100 day mask mandate, Fauci still on board, etc.

This is a COVID mask thread, not errors by medical personnel, Shaggy.

Like the blue paper ones so many wear that contain toxic PTFE's? Citation needed. Equate you wearing your dirty sock as a mask vs. PTFEs? I imagine wearing your dirty sock filters more microbes, right?

Some masks contain PTFE, but ordinary surgical masks are often made from other materials. PTFE is not generally harmful to humans.

Blue surgical face masks, like the ones featured in the Facebook post, are most commonly made out of a different type of plastic called polypropylene rather than PTFE, although PTFE is used in the making of some reusable masks, and some disposable masks can have PTFE filters.

The post seems to be referring to the symptoms of polymer fume fever, which is a rare ailment caused by inhaling fumes from PTFE heated above 300 to 400 degrees Celsius, such as when a PTFE pan is overheated. Symptoms can resemble flu.

There is no evidence that anyone would suffer from this condition as a result of the normal wearing of a mask made with PTFE. fullfact.org

Once again your YouTube/FB education has failed you.
