Comfortably numb!
Yeah, i haven't been paying much attention really but i'm pretty sure no one is allowed in the country without at least 2 weeks in quarantine, Australian citizens included.
That's affirmative from the news I got CBC.

One caveat, they have to enforce them (quarantines). The issue, not in Australia is that most don't. They say they will but don't. That being said, some folks do take this shit seriously and quarantine.

There was a recent case here (Nova Scotia) where folks from Ont, did not quarantine as promised but were at a bar bragging about it, mask-less (hard to drink with a mask on). A patron reported the incident and the owner kicked them out. I would have called the authorities.

Sorry I forgot to mention that THIS^^^^ is why lockdowns in other countries WORKED. And part of the reason why it did not work in the US.

We should not have locked down in the first place. Funny enough the business I work for had it's best year, more people at home resulted in more business for us.

boogie that's like saying we should lock down the economy permanently because amazon had record profits because more people were home therefore used amazon more. not everything is about dollars.

I don't think we should have locked down even though I made more money, your analogy is backwards.

This is what they talk about when they say "come together" or "bipartisanship".

"Bipartisan" means watering down Moscow Mitch's deal and agreeing to that. LOL. Dems are controlled opposition.

What they really mean is the D's and the R's are going to come together to give you a double dicking in your asshole.

"Bipartisan Senate group to unveil $908B stimulus compromise.

Details fluid but likely to include:
--

$300/week UI
--

$300B - PPP

--

$250B - state & local
--

Temporary liability shield

--

$50B 4 health/vaccine distribution

--

AND:

--

NO stimulus checks 2.0"

So no second round of stimulus (which is needed), AND they slip in a corporate liability shield so companies can't get in trouble or sued for sending you to work and catching covid, or you coming to work with covid and spreading it.

Americans need to organize a general workers strike. Doesn't matter what side you're on. You're getting fucked like everyone else.

Our government is an out of touch oligarchy. Evictions expire this month. This is going to be a dark winter.

Sounds like a well informed political weather forecast to me.

Can't agree more with respect to a general strike, if we do not demand better representation, we will see continued deterioration.

Taiwan spends 700 dollars a year per person on health care.

We spend ten times that, receiving a fraction of the benefits they see.
No one outspends big pharma and Rockefeller medicine on lobby money.

Surely one way to help stop money interests forcing politics would be to cap campaign spending.
Not just in the USA either.
Would open up the floor to other political parties too

yeah, the Supreme Court really put a fucking on us normal people by deciding that corporations were allowed to donate to PACS in Citizens United. until that gets overturned (AS IF!) we are in worse shape than ever...

the GOP protections for companies that willingly expose employees to a disease are a poison pill that the DEmocrats are standing against. why SHOULD anyone that cheerfully exposes anyone to a disease not be liable for that action?

The bill Mitch is offering allows for tax breaks on business lunches though.
Mean while we are currently losing one life per minute here in the US.
Forward projections are somewhere between reprehensible and obscene.
Masks and social distancing are effective and do work.

Does Taiwan have things like the AMA and other lobbyist who work to keep healthcare costs high?

Uniparty bought and paid for politicians who enable insane drug profits?

Turning healthcare over to career politicians who become multi millionaires on a $175k salary seems like a viable option to you?

The waste and fraud seen in medicare magically goes away once they control all healthcare?

The shortage of doctors and other healthcare professionals gets better with more access to healthcare?

Do you believe someone's labor or services is a human right... you know like that whole schtick about healthcare being a human right?

Without more doctors shortages are inevitible which in turn means politicians and bean counters will be forced to ration care. You comfortable with those folks making healthcare choices for you?
