I have a repair guy coming any minute. Everything has probably been defrosted for 12 hours max now. Still safe to eat? The texture might suffer but I use these veggies mainly for soup and stew.

I say I'm going to learn to can every year and never get around to it. Can you say wake up call?

canning is so simple with the cookers of today. The pressure is regulated with a weight. Most veggies need only 30 to 40 min at 10lbs.

I use a cooker that was made in the 40's that you need to adjust it manually. That one does take a little skill between adjust the heat and pressure.

Ball prints a canning book that is simple to fallow.

Good luck.

Thanks littleleaf. Canning is on the top of my list for next season. I did dehydrate a good amount this year so at least it's not a total loss.

The guy just left. Both freezer and fridge are gone. Not worth the money to repair. Really nice guy to come a long way and charged way less than I thought he would. I gave him a nug as a tip.

Poor Man's Greenhouse.

The plastic is 3 1/2 mil ... $12 for 10x25 at Home Depot.

Was going to use 2 of them, but 1 seemed enough.

So, $6 in materials. The deer-fencing I am using as a structure ... free to haul away at a garage sale a few years ago.

Temps are going to drop into the 20's soon enough.

I was very impressed how April-May sunshine induced flowering in my clones. (Problem was, they wouldn't go back into veg !!!)

So, maybe January time-frame, I was thinking about putting plants outdoors.

Cannabis plants that is :woohoo:

To keep the Weeds company !!! :peacock:

Trying my hand at oyster mushrooms. Never done this before so it will be a great learning exp.

Started off with buying a oyster mushroom kit off ebay. $24.00 Then hit the tube to see how others are growing them. Found that using used coffee grounds were a great way to get the mycelium to grow. Then take the colonized coffee ground to inoculate wheat straw to grow the mushrooms.

I took and cut some of the mushroom grow kit log and put it into jars of coffee grounds on 1/19/17. Today the 21 I pulled out the jars not thinking that any thing would be growing but to my suprize. The jars are all most completely colonized. :dance013:

Now the fun begins.

Lots of seeds being planted/sprouted. Warming the seed flat with heat mat (wish I had more), but can and do burn the woodstove I have installed at the back of the greenhouse. Here in Oregon it realy helps to have one. You can get it like a tropical jungle in here, perfect for seed sprouting. Thank you for those who stop in and I hope everyone has enjoyed a few days of good weather to get out there and start our gardens.
