Same problem here otis. I let the weeds get out of control again. I'll be chipping away at it little by little this week.

On the bright side, literally, we have had almost 2 weeks of sunny weather here. It's been great for the garden. I will throw up some pics tomorrow.

It looks like a speckled king snake, but it's not my pic so idk what area it's from.I saw a beautiful corn snake when I was clearing my patch. I wish I had a camera, corn snakes are probably one of the prettiest snakes.

Here's a few pics of my humble little garden. As you can see it need some weeding. The area is also very overgrown. Last year someone said it looks like a "guerilla vegetable garden" lol.

3 rows of potatoes. One of my fav foods.

Tomatoes and more greens in back. Assorted peppers top right.

Corn in the front, zukes/summer squash/cumcumbers in middle, more corn in back.

The assorted greens are bok choy, kale, swiss chard, mustard greens and cabbage.

Peppers are green bell, jalapeno and cheyenne.

I have lots of different herbs hiding here and there. My favorite lately is lemon thyme. Very pungent.

2016 vegetable garden

2016 vegetable garden

Got it together on Vegetables late this year. Except for the tomatoes which were grown in the greenhouse since march. Been getting tomatoes for a good month now.

Corn came up a week ago. It is a fast growing corn and is called a goofy name that I hate saying because it sounds so stupid Ha Ha. But it says Eighty days on the package which is very irrelevant because it is determined by heat units (the amount of warmth it receives). Regardless of the name it is a modern day sugar enhanced highbred that is fast and doesn't get very tall. It is put out by a seed distributor local to Oregon called Territorial Seeds. They have good seed stock that is good for our Northwest climate.

I love it. It never ceases to amaze me what those tiny seeds or starts turn into. Growing ones own food(meds) has to be one of the most rewarding things we can do. Keep up the good work guys. Beautiful gardens!

Put a bunch of ginger in this year,
sold out of it real fast last season so put quite a lot in ,
likely lots more next time ..
Organic ginger sells for up to $40 a kilo in the shops here ,
of course i get nothing like that , but more than enough to make it worth growing ,,
the thai ladies are calling mine jumbo ginger ,,
they love it ,, lol ...

Holy freekin' ginger! Man that's a good looking patch. Actually, the only patch of ginger that I have ever saw in my life. Awesome looking though. Will check to see if it will grow in my area.

How long of a season does it need? What I mean is, how long does it take to turn out a crop?

Hey bio,
it's a long crop , at least 6 months ,
but real easy to care for , keep it watered and mulch heavily a few times during its life ,
frost early would be a downfall id imagine .
but early ginger is good , just not as strong ...

I grew a lot more than that garden , it's one of my main crops ,
next season I'll probably fill the whole garden I made for that reason ,
it could harvest up to 1000 kilos ,, if there's a market I'll grow it .

Always wondered about growing ginger. Never really looked into it tho. Huge Asian market here for it.

I was the second post in this thread, dang it's been a while. That picture was of my old house. When I moved out, I took my entire worm bin and added it to that raised bed pictured. When I put the house on the market, I replanted the bed with fruits and veggies. That bed till this day is still rockin! Whenever I drive by, I peek through the fence just to see how that bed is doing, and my old fruit trees I planted.

I tilled my veggie garden this year, to make room for extra canna due to law changes in my county. Some crooked neck yellow squash popped back up, and I have been letting it go. Harvested my first squash on the 4th for some grillin'.
