Near as I can tell from what's been reported, the thing keeping China from moving on Taiwan more then anything else is seeing how the rest of the modern world has reacted to Russia with their invasion of Ukraine. China's doing pretty good on paper right now and they are making a fair bit of progress towards becoming the worlds dominating Superpower. But their economy is pretty fragile and if they got hit with sanctions like Russia did and major companies started leaving China in protest it would really mess up their plans. China is very good at playing the long game and so it makes more sense to just be patient and in the end they'll most likely get everything they want without getting into a major, expensive and destructive conflict, just like they have been doing with Hong Kong. Plus your point about them not wanting to disrupt or damage all the manufacturing in Taiwan is on point.most of Chinas tech is stolen from the US, therefore it is not the latest. yeah, i know, they have some good minds on their side too, but if they were as good as us, they would be pulling ahead, which i seriously doubt is the case. in reality, there is no need for them to go in militarily. all off their actions point to a continued bluff , to keep face. they need Taiwan whole and working. destroying the island is not their game plan. they need the products currently made there as much as, if not more so, than the rest of the world does in order to keep their economy moving along.
