I have got spider mites 4.5 weeks into flower so i dont want to spray, my questions are:
can i treat my infested ladies now?
If not, will smoking the bud be bad for me/ taste poor
Once harvested I plan to break down the tent and clean everything, what shpould i use?

Any help is welcome

Well...fortunately for me and unfortunately for you, I've never had spider mites *knocks on wood* so I don't have any good answers for you. I know spider mites are extremely difficult to deal with and have heard all sorts of methods. Usually it seems in the end though that people have to resort to some fairly drastic measure buying expensive pesticides designed specifically for mites. I don't know if these things are safe and have my doubts anyone really knows if they're safe for a crop that will eventually be smoked and/or ingested. Many of these specific products are fairly new and may not have had enough research done if any on side effects from prolonged exposure.

Of the more organic treatments they require lots of time and work and can't be all that good for plants. One of these methods is to just mist regularly with ice chilled water. Colder temps will slow the mites down. This might work if you only had a week of so to go but at only half way thru flower I don't think so. Cold isn't that good for plants and will slow them down too. Plus there is the risk of mold and mildew leading to bud rot. Other solutions involve spraying the plant with things to make it unpleasent for the mites, things like cayenne pepper, tobacco juice, tobassco sauce, etc. I've never heard of any of these working and figure they've got to if nothing else influence the taste and smell of the bud. Another "home remedy" I've heard of was misting the plants with a butter milk solution. The idea being the buttermilk will dry making a thick barrier over the mites the results in smoothering them. I've never heard of anyone actually doing it though and figure if it's smoothering the mites it's got to be smoothering the plants too. At the very least it's got to be impeding photosynthesis having a thick dry coat of buttermilk on it. Also you'd think there would be a risk of spoiled buttermilk getting left in nooks and cranies of the bud after rinsing the buttermilk off.

The most effective method I've heard of that's organic is fighting fire with fire by infecting your grow with predator mites (available at various grow shops) which feed off of spider mites but this is an additional expense and is most effective if you can introduce the predators before the spider mites get too well established. You'll also still have to deal with bugs being stuck in your buds.

Have You got an air compressor to blow them off the buds?

Dont use ant pesticides. Its too late for that.

Blow them off with compressed air and mist them with cold water like Hemp Cat said, is Your best bet

I personally wouldn't use anything mold covered in the making of anything I'm going to eat or smoke.

I'm not saying it can't be done, just that I wouldn't do it because it's not worth the health risks in my mind. Since it's not something I would do I can't say for sure if there are ways to make hash or butter using moldy buds as it's not something I've looked into. Perhaps someone else will offer some tips or suggestions?

I wouldnt make waterhash out of it.
Im thinking if you dissolved the terpenes in alcohol and screened it through a coffee filter, then evaperated the alcohol you may get a good product.

Boiling the material will kill any type of mold, fungus or any other bacteria. Think of when they boil the wert for beer, it kills any funky growing in the brew. You can also use it for BHO.
No, I don't think I would use it for water hash either since it not being boiled.

I've been reading your thread it has helped me out alot I'm about to start building my boxes but I'm not sure on the ventilation
For my flower box I'm going to make it 4x4x4 with a 600w hps I should be able to fit 4 plants scrog style in there on a perpetual grow start with one plant two weeks later put in another until all four are in there for my veg /mother cab I'm thinking 4x6x3 using four t5 fluros that are four ft long and 54w a piece I want to have two mothers in there and four or 5 clones at a time getting ready to go into the flower cab...but I don't think I'm figuring the cfm for my spaces right so could you help me with the size of fan I need for the two cabs?
And do you think that will be enough t5 light or should I get a couple more ?
I know I have to take lxwxh=room volume then devide by 5 to = cfm but I'm coming up with numbers in the teens for cfm thats not right is it? Thanks for you help in advance I appreciate this thread alot thanks again
Ps if you think I should change the hight of my cabs due to heat or whatever I can...i have 8 foot ceilings I was just wanting to stack the boxes on top of each other to save some space but I'm willing to change my setup if needed

The height is fine but it's not going to give you much room for dealing with the heat a 600W can generate. If you want to keep it the way you're thinking you should seriously consider a cool tube for the 600. Now if you do go that route you won't really need the ventilation to do the cooling of the cab as the fan for the cool tube will pull most of the heat out. When using that arrangement you don't really need to figure the cfm's like you would for a room without a cool tube. You just need a reasonably decent fan (I'm think something in the 150cfm range).

Now on you're calculations what you're doing when you divide by 5 is you're figuring the cfms need for a decent exchange rate of co2. One complete room change every five minutes is sufficient for replanishing the co2 naturally present in the atmosphere. That sort of ventilation can typically be accomplished with just an ordinary computer case fan. I think what's throwing you is that you're calculating the ventilation needed for co2 exchange but then expecting the numbers need for ventilation to accomplish your cooling. For maximum cooling via ventilation you should ideally have 5 room changes per minute and so instead of dividing the total room volume by 5 you multiple it by 5. So the equation in your case would be 4'x4'x4'=64 cubic feet x 5 = 320cfm. Does that sound more like what you were expecting? Again though if you use a cool tube then you really only need to figure the ventilation for co2 exchange and then have a decent fan on the cool tube.

Now on the question about the T5's, 4 should be plenty for the relatively small number of plants you plan on having in there at any given time. I have a similar arrangement with 4 T8 four foot tubes and I can handle up to 10 1' to 1.5' plants in a 4' x 2' area.

Finally, if you plan on going perpetual rather then doing ScrOG you should consider just doing LST (low stress training which is alot like ScrOG but without the Screen. If plants are going to be going in and coming out in a staggered fashion like you're suggesting having to deal with a screen just complicates things unnecessarily unless you plan on having individual screens for each plant?

maybe not within your purview, but can you please tell me if it is possible to reverse a male plant using colloidal silver, and have that plant produce seed?

a plant treated with CS showed obvious indication of female flowers in the first week of flowering and has since become male (not that it was not male to begin with).

anyway, if a female being reversed can produce pollen, why cannot a male being reversed produce female flowers that throw seed.
