Damn GG. Wish I could help.

This is the very reason I stick to hydro. Much simpler to just dump and start over.

Don't give up. Back up, reevaluate, and go again.

Peace
GT

I will dude, just let it get on top of me.

growing in dirt is the easiest thing in the world IMO and i cant believe you have give in just like that bro! your meant to learn from your mistakes and carry on learning! you had all the advice u needed in here i havnt read the whole thread but seems you cant handle the stress to well... its a stressful game mate but listen! go buy a quality bag of soil n organic nutes buy a cheap ph pen then come back and we'll guarantee you grow some top draw smoke!(ph pen is not even needed but its good to have a clue what the ph of water straight from tap is for a gauge)

get rid of the MG please i bet u had larve munching ur young feeder roots like gannets ph is prob way off from the bag then.. after that its non stop probs.. could of been sorted but you threw a wobbly n chopped em up lol

get some biobizz allmix, and theyre grow/bloom.. then come back it'll cost about 30 notes to fill that tent bro. i prefer canna bio range but bio bizz is still the bollix you get some sweet quialty herb using it and its dumb proof!

gd lk and dont cave in like a lil girl.. stiff upper lip and soldier on pal lol

Yeah I know, spat my dummy out. I'm gonna get myself the ph kit. No point in going organic, tried it with the same results and you can't pour ph adjusting acids on top of your microherd. This has been happening over and over no matter what soil I use. Gonna scrub down everything and just do one plant in quality dirt. I'm gonna change nute brand too. Not decided on which yet. I think you might be right about the larvae eating roots. It went from noticing 3 or 4 gnats to my soil being populated by what must have been 100s of the fuckers. When I lifted dirt out of soil I was expecting to see more of a root bound issue but there was hardly anything there considering how long they had been in pots. The roots are brown, don't smell and no slime but definitely not healthy.

I think it stressed me out so much because I thought I would be able to stop it with calmag this time but that did nothing. I've used plant magic soil and lightmix before and still had this and there wasn't a gnats problem with them soils. So I bow down to it being a ph issue. I know my water out of tap is 7.1- 7.2 , with nutes it's more like 6.7. This was about 5 years ago when I checked it. Maybe it's fluctuations in the ph between feed and plain water? I just believed the soil would buffer the difference. I notice any plant that's watered with my tap water don't do great. My mrs has a bonsai with same Brown spots,my chillies get them also. Even my outdoor plant got the exactly the same spots and yellowing, got to be my water.

Cheers fella, yeah gonna take a month or so off just so I can scrub down and get my shit together. I will be back. It's strange, I feel down because I wasted 11 weeks but I also feel relieved not to have to watch my plants getting worse everyday and feeling helpless about what to do about it. I was saying to my Mrs earlier how it's strange how even my 1st ever grow was great and they just got better . Then 2 years ago it all changed and no exaggeration they progressively got worse every grow. It has me banging my head off the wall. Knocked my confidence down to zero. Im dreading changing nutes soil and getting the ph gear all for it to happen again. What do I do then? I Must not think like that, I know.

I hear ya brother. The emotional ups and downs can wear on ya.

Make life easy. If your going to get a ph meter just go all the way and get a combo TDS and pH meter. Net pots and bubblers are cheap. Go DWC and say the hell with it. Much cleaner and easier to manage. Living soil is a pain in the ass.

It will save you a lot of stress. They pretty much grow themselves.

Either way don't let it beat ya. You know you can grow. Just got to build your confidence back up.

We got your back.

I've torn down all the plants. I give up,they was not improving and just continued to get worse. Nobody can tell me what the problem is. Everyone has give an opinion about what they think it is but were wrong and I don't have a clue. It was stressful seeing them look worse everyday and had developed a massive fungas gnats problem the soil was crawling with them. Never seen so many. Gonna take some time off and do some reading to see if I can figure out what's been going wrong every grow I've tried recently.

can't eat food with dead roots. this was why they are showing deficiencies. fungus gnats. the ones in the soil you can't see are the problem. not the adults.

Yeah and there must have been plenty in the soil by the amount of adult ones that popped up all of the sudden

Wish you better luck on the next grow. if you suspect you have fungus gnats in the future watering with BTI in your watering can will help as well as putting/burying potato wedges in the soil to attract the larvae away from your roots and into the potato slices which you change out every 3 days.

stupid no edits. also keeping the top inch of your soil from being constantly wet/moist will prevent fungus gnats from laying eggs in the first place. some people put a layer of perlite or sand or those clay hydroton rocks on top. but any sort of dry barrier on top should work.

I've used mg soil from my very 1st grow. For a few years worked great no problems and great results, then this calcium and magnesium problem started and it has stuck ever since. I've changed soils and switched to organic, then switched back. The whole time trying to fix this. Still happening with cal mag and sprays of Epsom. I even got paranoid last winter about it being my equipment so although I couldn't really afford it I brought a new tent & filter + fan kit. Still my last 2 grows have been hit. Every grow gets a little worse. No I've never even seen mg ferts apart from house plant and tomatoe feed. I've said before I'm probably guilty of letting them get hungry for fear of burning them in this soil. Hence this flush so I feel safer adding feeds. I need some luck

Been there, Done that...

I switched to hempy pots, in March. (Perlite/Vermiculite, 2/1 ratio)..
all problems disappeared...the NLxShiva is my favorite strain.

It's really difficult to grow healthy plants in soil. I've tried multiple times with good quality soil and organic nutrients (biobizz), but never got healthy plants. Hydro and coco coir are so much easier to work with. I honestly think my coco grown buds taste a lot better than the stuff I managed to grow in soil. There really is no reason to grow in soil.

I've been looking at coco,I like the idea. I might give it a shot with just hand watering

Don't blame it on the soil as I know 100% biobizz n there bottled food is so so so frikkin easy to grow grade A herb. I've recommended it to at least 400 ppl n all come back and praise the crap out of it as long as they follow the easy regime.

Lol soil with bottled nutes V's DWC is like jumping from league 4 to the prem. but I understand some ppl prefer other methods.
U may kill It in dwc but I really really can not understand when ppl say soils a pia yes if you've made ur own super soil type yes understandable but anyway itis what itis. I'd like to see some big arse dwc flowers!!

Exactly how I grow atm works good but need more attention than soil grow would lol

Yeah been looking online at coco growing and it ain't for me I think I will stick to soil. Had no problem with it for a while then it's all gone tits up. I just want to get back to how I had it before.

Hey mate seems like things have gone tits up since last time i checked in.

Really feel for ya buddy going through some turmoil in my own grow at the moment also.

Are you toying with the idea or changing up method of growing?

If you are i would recommend canna coco myself, started in nft then done a bit of dwc before settled on coco and been happy ever since.

With coco you can try it out with just pots so no need to buy a new system and people use it differently. Some like to have wet dry cycles or some people water every day (make sure you have a good root system developed before watering everyday).

Coco is quite flexible medium as its classed as a hydro medium you can always update bog standard pots with a dripper set up for multiple feedings per day and faster growth rates and will bump up yields a bit too.

Peace.

Yeah it weren't getting any better that's for sure. Buds weren't growing,I was at week 4 and they hadn't got any bigger and there was no crystals. My last grow was fms c99 and wos ww and they got just like these plants had and I had 3 of them turn hermie and I could see it was going to happen with these 2 so I just fooked them off . I looked into coco and it looked a little to involved for me. I need to get back to grips with basic soil grows again. I was going to change nutes and soil brand but I think my problem is probably a ph lockout. So next grow I will ph adjust everything within the proper range and hope it solves the problem. I said before, yeah I'm a bit gutted but relieved not to be stressed by them anymore. On one of the plants there was not one healthy leaf. Even the bud leaves were all Brown and crinkled, nothing good was gonna come of it. Didn't matter if I fed them or gave calmag they wouldn't take it,made them look worse. Even after a flush.
