Hey Red Rider, working my way through this thread and thoroughly enjoying it. Are the missing photos available anywhere?

new years eve 1975/76 my friend and i drove down to key west in a brand new 75' red corvette.we sure didn't want to be carrying weed in that car thru south carolina, georgia. as we got to sloppy joe's in key west i asked the guy selling popcorn where we could get some weed ? "it shouldn't be hard bales of it are washing up on the beaches" we copped an oz for cheap of this soaking wet Columbian. my friend says "that's no good". i dried some out over a light bulb fired it up and said "yes it is !" i sure do miss that Columbian seen it all large 71' 77' then that cali stuff with the orange hairs took over

I was in the the Florida Keys (Marathon) at that same exact time, and I remember the Colombian seaweed that was for sale at the time. It was excellent herb and super cheap if you had the right connection, like my cousin did.

Great info onefinity thanks.

I said it before. I have the Punto Rojo going now and took a sample early. Better high than several Colombian Gold '72 phenos I have run. Just have the one Punto Rojo plant right now and it beat out the CG even not being ripe. The '72 I grew was better than the stuff in 1979 which surprised me as the original was mountain grown or at least grown in the sun at the equator.

I had Colombian Gold in 1979 and I know it was real and of good quality. Was not impressed at the time though not to say it was crap as it was not. The green from that era was superior, really exquisite smoke. The red was similar to many hybrids of today and common, good and a bit narcotic. The red was lowland I am sure not Punto Rojo which was rare and grown high in the mountains. Never had it till growing it now.

The best was mountain grown and was maybe around 5% of the total export. Probably true of the Mexican pot as well.

All I can say is the most memorable of all the stuff called Columbian that I sampled back in the day the gold that looked similar to the golden Laos posted by Donald Mallard a few days ago in the "Trip weed" thread in that it was smooooooth, hypnotic and uniform.

Very different than the equally memorable Panama Red which was much heavier mentally and physically IIRC.

BTW, that WAS a long time ago. Everybody's memories become less accurate with time. These days, the scientific thought is the memory is altered every time it is retrieved.

Don't suppose I will ever see it again, but the memories of the first experience with redbud are still pretty profound.

Hello and my apologies for neglecting my thread. But it's been crazy here (still in Bogota) with everything. Anyway back on the mend and may have an opportunity grow out and sort through some non crippy domestic seeds on a proper finca. Here's a few pics from 2005 when I was growing on a roof top in a rather shady barrio in the southern Bogota.

attachment.php

This plant came from a pressed bud I got from my reliable operative who obtained it while he was on the northern coast of Colombia. It was green so I called it Colombian coastal green, however it purpled when grown out at 2,800mts.

attachment.php

I had to move or something at the time so i never really got to finish her but the flowers I got were fantastic and I could kill myself for not keeping the seeds from it.

attachment.php

I still know the same guy that got me that bud back in 2005 and I still get flowers from him from time to time because he's the only one I know that can still get regular seeded flowers. I have no idea how the "reg" seeds are but I hope to find something special again.

Some older pictures (2004-05)

Thank you so much my friends, it’s been a rough year for the rider and it isn’t over yet. However I’m very optimistic and looking forward to what’s next down here. In 2004 I packed up and moved down here to live and work with my soon to be wife. Bogota of course was different then and so was the weed here, this was the time before crippy. In 2004 was buying (dirt cheap) seeded pressed sweat cured red, brown, gold, green and purple “Colombian” on the street in Bogota. I could get a pound of whatever was available for 30,000 cop or $10 USD then. It was like being in cannabis heaven not only because the incredible price (in GA I had been living off $70 1/4s) but the effect and nostalgic feeling of the seeds and smell of the “lumbo’ again took me right back to the 70s. This was a great time in my life, I didn’t really even think about growing until joining overgrow online. Then one day I took a handful of seed from some extra potent flower and threw it in the little garden in our apartment.

This was the bud the seeds came from, not much to look at but had that smell and when burnt, you knew where it was from.

I didn’t really do anything for this plant but it started in May 2004 and I cut it down January 05 and it was still growing. I remember smoking the whole thing but it wasn’t as good as the bud it came from.

attachment.php

I remember my landlord cried when I cut it down because she thought it was so beautiful. I grew a lot of plants in that tiny garden after that but none like the giant green Colombian.

This wasn't the start of my quest but it was were I put the idea together.

Candy bar attempt

Candy bar attempt

Earlier this year while I was waiting for surgery to remove cancerous tumor from my bladder (the result of two packs a day for 45 years). I grew out some "reg" seeds, nothing really special. However I took one of the better looking females and made some cobbs from her in an attempt to recreate the famous "wacky weed" I remembered from the past. No problems fermenting the cobb in the almost traditional manner i learned here, but just doesn't hit.... So the taste is there but the effect is lacking. It's very interesting smoke but barely and I mean just barely gives me the slightest buzz. Here's a few pictures.

This is not my first attempt at cobbing in fact I got pretty good at it in 17. The thing about fermenting is a lot of people don't like it, they want fresh cured green lookin distinguishable buds and cobbing as we know doesn't increase potency (only enhances).
Good news is I don't have cancer (but I have another cystotomy next month to be sure but the blood is clean) and I quit my 45 year two pack a day smoking habit. Now I'm just trying to get back on track and moving forward, positive thoughts and good vibes.

I am glad to hear you are on the mend and back at it. Many of us live vicariously through your posts.

I am curious on the method of fermenting. Perhaps I read it and it slipped the memory?

Good luck I just went through bladder cancer surgery myself. When they go through the penis and into your bladder to cut and burn out the cancer, I must tell you the first 4 to 5 days of recovery were hell. No bladder control and had to wear adult dippers. Blood in the urine is no fucking joke and still beer only makes it worse for me. I go back on 12/28 and hope he got it all. Best wishes for your full recovery.

Man so nice to hear from you again, I love reading your threads and posts. But the cobb curing I learned right here on ICMAG, it's a very popular thread in the drying and curing section.

If I wasn't so lazy I'd post the link for you but I'll put a few pictures of some near perfect Red snake I cobbed up in 2017.

attachment.php

The Red Snake fermented well and it was potent with a delightful effect.

attachment.php

To me the fermenting of the RS changed the high and made it no so much better but different and exciting. People have no idea what it is.

I do plan on making more cobbs a long with the other 800 things on the list.

Yeah I started pissing blood and other unmentionables around December of last year. Scared of doctors, needles all things medical so I put it off till January and went through all the tests and unpleasantness but they kept putting off my surgery, for about 4 months. But in July the got me, tube going into my bladder after the "procedure" for 8 days, evacuating into a bag I had to carry around. Man, don't even want to think about it or when my female doctor removed the catheter. But yeah you know all this stuff and I hope they put you to sleep before your next "observation" like I requested. I actually don't mind the needles any more after all the damn blood draws and injections I've had this year (so far). Anyway I go back in less than a month and ain't looking forward to it but got to do it (damn it).
I wish you the best and may you be clear and free for all your days.
