Hey Mexicani-ar, your Acapulco Gold is looking very good. A good Mexican Haze is hard to find in 2016. The high from the Copalita Oaxacan gold pheno is promising.

Copalita Oaxacan is 2010 bagseed, an undeveloped variety. You get the good, the bad, and the ugly. The gold pheno is the keeper, so far. I've crossed it to everything except a stable sex Oaxacan male. My plan B - until I find a stable sex Copalita male is to cross Copalita Oaxacan with these Copalita Oaxacan x Haze crosses.

Another Copalita female phenotype is showing promise. She is NLD, very late flowering with Haze like growth.

Copalita Oaxacan smokes nice as a blend with Punto Rojo or ColJam. I also crossed it with a SamS [(Haze x Skunk) x (Haze x Skunk)]. SamS noted he crossed two Hazes each with an Acapulco Gold male. SamS' Acapulco Gold is a late 1960's / early 1970's Mexican. I selected from SamS Haze x Skunk for the Haze / Colombian growth. At some point I'd like to select for the Acapulco Gold growth.

The [(Haze x Skunk) x (Haze x Skunk)] male looked similar to Colombian Punto Rojo.

I asked Charlie directly yesterday about the Mextiza and he looked at me like I'd already asked him a 100 times ans said he was working on them. So I dont know when but I do know he is indeed working them right now so their coming soon. Trust me this plant is worth the wait.

Yes I know a guy that sells paisa seeds as well as some other Colombian seed banks(?). And I think Charlie will be at the cup but I
have work to do.

I agree .. started smoking in 69, and thru the early 70's my buddy would get this black weed from a sailor off a grancolombiana ship that would park in new York every other month. the shit was amazing.. by 1/2 the joint, your fingers were covered with black goo.. I think by 74 it was gone... yes it was replaced by thaistick,hawaiian etc, all good... but that Colombian was special..

In the mid to late seventies I lived part of the time in DFW Texas and the other part of the time in WPB Florida so my experience is limited to those two areas. Al Iry to be quite clear that I am referring to my personal perspective not the law of GOD. I had a few good Mexicans on a couple occasions, hell I'd even say I had some of the best when I lived in Texas. However I personally didn't think it was as potent or long lasting as the finer Colombians of the time. Most of the first Mexican i had like I said was bulk brick that sold for $10 a lid, it was nothing like the specialty Mexican I had later. Also Colombian was/is my personal preference and I'm sure we all have preferences. I remember Thai weed being more potent than the Colombian but I still preferred the lumbo.
I got a few Mexicans growing right now....they blend well with the locals.

I was using Google Earth last week and thought I saw a Colombian plantation or two.

Might be coffee though.

That sounds like some of the Colombian that Madjag writes about in some of his posts that he Colombian friend had. I think he called it Candy Bar smoke.

2017 Update

2017 Update

Well here we are in 2017 still here in Bogota working out details. But all is fine and progress is inevitable even if it is remarkably slow. As I have been working directly with CBG I am not at liberty to show pictures and talk about all the succulent tropical plants currently flourishing here in the high Andes. Of course I’m very excited about the current cannabis legalization in the USA (home) and I have no fear of Trump. Here in Colombia the cannabis movement (medical) is rapidly expanding as more people learn the facts and applications of the plant. Anyway the rider is still here and all is well and getting better.
