In late 2006 I was sent 30 or so Johnny Blaze (BBXHaze) from Red, the plan was to grow them out here in Colombia and make F-2s to grow out and sort through. Well I made F-2s but before I could grow them out my perfectly sane wife exploded over nothing one day and destroyed our house breaking dishes furniture and computers causing my 74 year old mother to go into cardiac arrest. That incident killed my mother and destroyed our family. I moved back to the USA after burring my mother and lost all my plants and seed.

The facts are this; recreation drug cannabis is best expressed when grown at high altitude near the equator. And hopefully with global legalization we will be able to grow and export the highest quality recreational drug cannabis the world has ever seen. I hope the future will be like this where cannabis is as common as kleenx and is cheaply available to all that want it. You could go to Walmart and buy a thousand different strains from all over the world, and of course there would be many many home grows enjoying.

JB was the only imported seed I grew here in Colombia that grew to big plants under the 12/12 natural light.

But I think there will be a small market for very special gourmet flowers and extracts, something that is only available in very limited quantities at certain times of the year. I would have two types of cured flowers, first the traditional sweat pressed cure for that authentic classic Colombian flavor. Then the modern air cures with perfectly manicured pristine seedless flowers.

And not just from Colombia but from all over the world, I know I would be ordering some Thai and Hawaiian right off the bat. I really have no idea how it will all unfold but I certainly see a golden future on a quite peaceful finca high in the Colombian mountains.

Good luck finding your finca and growing the plants you love. Once you get that accomplished and you are happy and satisfied, you will probably find a women who will be attracted to your calm happiness and want to share it with you.

Over the years, I have found that the same methods that result in happy productive plants also work very well on people. Just like plants do not do well if we water or fertilize them too often or too much or not often enough, the same applies to people. Just a little attention and appreciation spaced out a bit but not going too long between between providing the people equivalent of watering/fertilizing, which is giving a compliment or doing a small favor or just some sincere appreciation works great to make people bloom and flourish as surely as looking after your plants and making sure that they do not go too long between care, but not fussing over them all the time and killing them with kindness.

I was a wild man in my youth and had a great deal of all sorts of women, but eventually I got that out of my system and I wanted a deeper relationship and a family. I have been happily married for more than 30 years and we are still going strong. I was not a very good husband when I was first married so things were occasionally rocky, but as I realized how my plants thrived under my care and that the same basic strategy that grew happy healthy plants would also make for a happy healthy home life, things mellowed out considerably and I was able to enjoy the rewards of domestic tranquility.

On the other hand, probably the biggest reason our marriage has lasted so long is that I had a lot of women to choose from and while I made a lot of mistakes, selecting my wife was one thing I did right. Since I really loved and wanted her, even when things got rocky, my thoughts went to how can I fix this situation instead of how can I get out of this situation. I knew that I was never going to find a better match, so I was determined to make it work for both of us.

When you are happy and successful growing great herb on your finca, your happiness will be very attractive so you will have a wide selection of mates. Either pick very carefully or, given your track record, you might just want to shack up for a few years before you tie the knot again.

You have to be hurting right now, but at least time heals all wounds. If you can turn your time and attention to making your dream a reality, it should help you keep your mind off your problems until time works its magic. At least your dream is reasonable and attainable and you have already done a good deal of fieldwork and put a good deal of thought into your plan, so now it is time to put your plan into action.

Good luck and please keep providing us with vignettes of life in Colombia and photos of Colombian weed and the highland countryside.

Great stuff my friend and your words are felt for sure. I don't want to come off as a whimp but this woman has been hurting me for years. I don't know a kind word or a gentle touch from her. Really I'm ready to be done with her kids or not, she uses the kids as a tool to mess with me. Think of having a good wife that nurtures the marriage and family, a woman that builds up her husband and supports him. Now think exactly the opposite and you have my wife. Every bad undesirable trait a woman can have she's got it. Lies, back stabbing, neglectful, rude, sarcastic (her specialty) and hostile that's her and it didn't start yesterday either. It's time to make that a bad memory.

I'm pressing on and that's it, I'm not worried about getting a woman at this time (could change at any moment). I've got quite a good amount of seed I want to grow and I am going to do it. Got a new sample coming in this afternoon so I'll let you know what we get.

Hang in there brother, you are worthy of happiness. Put yourself first for a change and get that finca, then get your kids etc and you'll be settin purty for sure. Of course it could be worse but it's definitely tough on your kids. Hope that everything works out and you are Jonny on the spot for that gold that's coming after legalization . If you can get us some of that fine Columbian you'll be rich indeed . But happiness can't be bought wishing you well from NorCal peace sdd

Red

Is red bud different than Columbian red?
Hello my friend, Redbud, gold, black, purple are all just names I give to the weed I encounter here in Bogota. If it reminds me of the killer redbud from the 70s that’s what I call it along with an approximant point of origin (Santa Marta). Some Corinto and purple local sativa along with black and red are what I call dark Colombian, whereas the gold and greens are light Colombian, Punto Rojo class by itself. Yes redbud is the same as Colombian red.

What a fantastic thing the internet is: to talk with the world’s best growers, man what an honor it is. Before I could only dream about what it is like to grow in places like Spain, Oregon, Washington, Holland and the famous Northern California. One day I’m going to get you guys high. But it is really a wonder to share information and thoughts about the plant globally. Thank you all so much and sincere respect.

Mother's day Update

Mother's day Update

As far as the wife thing, we've (or she) has declared a truce in light of the mother’s day holiday (big day here). So things are mellowing out at the moment and I’m happy to get a break from the stress (deferring).

Also I just got a new sample this morning and from pretests it seems righteous although really haven’t had much of it yet. This is another gold (light brown) from George who now travels out of Bogota more often. Hard clumps of semi seeded flower, not much smell just “Colombian”. Taste is sweeter than the red but still musky with that sandalwood hash exhale. Really nice uplifting high but trashed my eyes and munchies from hell. Seems to linger on the finish. I have some time today to investigate further.

I deleted a post, sorry. Here's some Santa Marta Gold I grew out in Bogota about a decade ago.

These were some tester buds cut off the plant and slow dried for a taste.

Thanks man, but Harry didn't offend me. He spoke a valid point, I've made some really poor selections in females. However in my defense I would like to add that I don't drink any more. Every time in the past I got into a "relationship" with a female it was when I was drinking heavily. I've never been to a wedding sober in my life. Now I don't drink not even now and then. I love drinking too but I just don't have the desire to do it any more. So maybe with a non alcoholic perspective I won't make another stupid mistake.
But I was kind of shocked the way Harry responded to Sam's (Skunkman) request for a leaf to test in another thread. Harry was quite harsh to say the least however Sam stayed on point with his reply.

Greetings, a few things I’d like to clarify are what I do in Colombia is not something anyone else couldn’t do. I’m sure there’s many gringo men living here in Colombia and surly I’m not the only one growing weed here. But I’ve been “living” here for a while and I’ve seen a change in what’s available to me here in Bogota. 10 years ago I was seeding the traditional Colombians, fully seeded pressed fermented buds. Just like from the 70s but not as old and beat up from transport. Then I went away for 4 years and came back to find “crippa” I’d heard of Crippa before but never seen it Bogota till 2011. In 11 I was still getting the traditional Colombian but harder to find. Now I only have one source for the traditional Colombian and that’s through my longtime friend George. It seems now the Crippa is the majority of the cannabis grown here or that’s available locally. The Colombians that do smoke prefer Crippa and the market shows this. Crippa however is not the same as the plants I grew from imported seed (Nirvana, white label and some others), Crippa grows like a tropical NLD strain. I’ve been growing a female for almost seven months and she’s just starting to flower. Crippa is strange and comes in a thousand different varieties. But crippa is not the plant I want to grow here, I want the lower potency spicy traditional Colombian. I don’t want to grow here around Bogota because the climate sucks, like now it’s not the rainy season but we haven’t had one full sunny day since February. And it’s cold here, doesn’t freeze but low temps really slow growth coupled with few sunny days. Colombians do grow weed around Bogota and it’s the Corinto and some Corinto can be excellent (most not impressive). Here is some Corinto I bought here at a little farmers market in Bogota (05).

attachment.php

If you’re careful and know what to say you can find some good weed at these markets but it’s not always available.

attachment.php

I think as things progress with legalization the masses will require tons and tons of Crippa but I also feel there will be a small micro market for my type of Colombian.

High altitude Corinto

High altitude Corinto

I would like to add that this "Corinto" is not very potent. Not one hit quit, I can smoke a joint of this and not fall asleep. I can feel one or two hit but just barely. However it does get me high, it just takes more. I like that, being able to smoke more and get higher over a longer period.

attachment.php

It doesn't smell or taste like it looks either, no fruit or flowers. Just an earthy, musty smell with a slightly hashy taste. The effect is slow to come on.

attachment.php

But I have smoked myself stupid with this bud. It's not motivational at all in large doses but so euphoric it makes everything hilarious. Some local purple Corinto can be dirty on the finish leaving a residual hangover (from wake and bake). The QWISO from the Corinto is one of my favorites.

Hi,
Is it called Santa Marta Columbian Gold because of how it's dried cured that gives it that goldish hue?

Greetings and welcome TangieFanatic, yes Santa Marta gold is golden colored sativa from the santa marta region of Colombia. The buds in the picture came from a plant I grew in Bogota from seed that came from Santa Marta.
