Some times the winds of Fate blow my way. Actually I'm in another odd situation again with this finca. I try not to get wrapped up in unimportant details and focus on my plants and the opportunity to continue working with them.
It's challenging to adjust to the local environment and get a funcional system to get the plants dialed in to.
But yeah I'm really appreciative of my current situation but also calm.
There's still a lot to do and I try to enjoy day to day without getting anxious about the future.

I don't like having this many clones, especially with multiple varieties handelsd but many different people. But despite my strong cautions a critical little boo boo was made. This was three years ago in Zipacon when cuts were taken for the up coming PEA ( hundreds of cuts). Luckily it was detected quickly but still not corrected.
phone pics 2020 2021 1202.jpg

This situation is one among other reasons I don't want to be anywhere near commodity cannabis production. Much happier with just a few nice plants that only I've taken care of. But the 22 months I was there was an incredible learning experience having been able to grow hundreds of of plants and select what I thought was the best.

This was my first Colombian plant I grew in Santa Isabel (Bogota) in 2004. Six months to finish, really it was this plant and icmag (and overgrow) that brought me to where I am now.

I just became aware that I've been working with a silent partner. I had some nice lizards around my plants in zipacon but smaller.
IMG_20230927_081911567~2.jpg

Plenty of bugs for them around here.
I was speaking with my wife about the Paipa sativa which does have a local name. She has to send it to me because I have no idea how to spell it. So she mentioned somethings about the variety I didn't know. The brother that actually grows the variety said he started growing/smoking it back in the seventies. But he knew about it all his Life cause his dad grew it before him. His family has an old finca about an hour from Paipa in a remote area. But really not much more information about it. It takes about six months from seed to finish but can finish sooner if in a pampered environment. Other family members grow it in this region too but on personal scale.
So I'll try to reproduce it here and see what happens. I of course want pure Colombian lines but ones that I know are potent, six months is a long time to find out.

Started germanating some of these, came from some nice seeded buds George brought me in 2005. I didn't know anything about crippi back then, it might have been around. Back then I only bought weed from George and I specifically told him I wanted primo old school Colombian. I do recall that redxxx bud as being very simulator to the redbud I got in Texas (1978). I bought a pound (500 grams) for 30000 cop and was surprised by the quality. I never grew the seeds from it so I'm hoping they pop.

actually like lizards I think they’re very cool ..here there’s a proliferation of toads this year because we have a lot of wet weather ..they like to congregate under some of my plants and eat the small crickets

The first plant finished here at Cielo Azul finca, Kamora F2. Nicely dried and ready, not particularly pretty bud.
IMG_20230929_105506238_MFNR~4.jpg

I love the smell and taste but it's not fruity or like desert pastry, it's robust and unique. The hit works right every time, with little to no tolerance build up or burn out. I have a couple other buds and even more SMG bubble hash but I keep reaching for the Kamora.

The world is a different place now, YouTube experts and Google masters that know everything all the time. Colombia is no different than the rest of the world, everything thats popular in California is popular here to the herd. You can get diamonds in sauce in Bogota just like you can in LA and just about as easy. Far away places aren't mysterious and exotic any more, there's a new YouTube video in every location on the planet. It's a good thing, I think...
With cannabis there's a lot that mets the eye but we all know that appernce of cannabis is superficial and really has nothing to do with whats important (the hit).
You can post pictures of plants and flowers while painting a picture of the effect it has but you can never really capture the way it feels.
I don't like what cannabis has evolved into with legalization and greater social acceptance. Like tattoos, it's not cool when everyone has them everywhere.
Now quality is measured in laboratory quantifications with no regard origin.
I remember when simply saying "Colombian" was enough to ensure quality.
Now most consuming Colombians believe quality is what's playing on YouTube.
That's pretty much why I keep to myself and not waste energy engaging people and their opinions. For several years I thought I had something to say but I came to realize that I was wasting energy that could be use for my work.

There is something special about Colombia. I live in Hawaii cause there is too much about the mainland that I don’t like. Colombian women are some of the most beautiful women in the world, in Medellin ya can fall in love every 5 mins walking down the street lol. Maybe it’s something in the water , or lack there of

Hawaii, I bet you smoke some beautiful sun grown sativa. I've got a buddy that lives in Hawaii, matter of fact his coming to visit in about two weeks. About 30 years ago I went to Kauai for a couple weeks. I didn't know anyone there so I spent the entire trip budless. Looking forward to my buddies visit, he grows sativa there in Hawaii and I'm hoping he can help me with the summer flower season.

Pressed Malawi
What I call Paipa sativa is actually called Música in Spanish. No idea why they call it that but that's the real name.

Sunrise is always an uplifting event. The smell of coffee and bacon along with the first taste of the day is how I like to start.
IMG_20231008_051908857_MFNR.jpg

I enjoy the solitude more at this finca because I'm the only one here. Rosters crowing and cows mowing along with tropical bird whistles set a nice pace.
IMG_20231008_051901082_MFNR.jpg

Fog rolling in and high humidity with it. I guess it could be called fog but its really a cloud bumping into the mountain.
But yeah, it's this time that I like "moderate" potency narrow leafed flower. I sampled another native variety grown in Paipa, I posted a picture of it months ago but I'm too lazy to find it and repost. But when I looked at the dried flowers(?) I thought it should be composted. The plants in mid flower and a storm broke a huge branch that was gifted me by the lady grower. There was no real flower but I crushed some up and smoked it. Got to say looks can be deciving because I got surprising lifted with a crispy new hit. Despite the leaf ratio I like the the burnt taste. It's effect is nice and although not "racy" it motivates. It's good for morning, I'm curious to see how it when finished (December).

Bad news is none of my really old Colombian seeds popped. So I started some Old Haze #11 and 7 did pop. I have some indica from California I'm germinating too just for fun. I do appreciate a nice indica if it's grown the way I believe is correct. But I'm really excited about the new local varieties I'm going try this dry season. Música and this one from Yolanda, also from Paipa.
IMG_20231009_025342868_MFNR~3.jpg

In this case looks are deciving because I get a very nice effect from it. It's bone dry and leafy yet the smoke is smooth and tasty. Surprising potent hit that reminds me of good Mexican that mood altering in a positive way. Unlike my wife that can be mood altering in a negative way.
IMG_20231009_025251617_MFNR~3.jpg

Just two or three hits and my mood brightens with a perma smile. This euphoric effect intensifies with more smoking and lasts about an hour. Of course compared to the Malawi donate Kamora it's mild and short duration but I don't always want to get blown away.

I got a buddy coming to visit the rider here in beautiful Paipa and he had some problems leaving Hawaii yesterday. However he got everything squared away yesterday and is coming to Colombia today. So everything is cool and I look forward to growing some sativa with a Hawaiian grower.

Slowly getting everything in order for December flowering. I've got 5 nice Paipa sativa seedlings (depending on the S/P ratio) should have some nice flower around March. And I've got some predicated Haze as well as the Kamora F3 coming along. Still no plastic for the greenhouse but should be here and installed next week. So things are moving along, I've got to go to Zipacon next week too. I'm going to take my visiting guest from Hawaii with me to see the operation and meet Ruth.
IMG-20231013-WA0042.jpg

It's been a year since I've been there and I get kind of a negative vibe going there. But I want to help Ruth get her plants straighten out. Funny when I worked other jobs including the military, I was a team player. But with cannabis I get an ego and can't work with other people. I don't like to discuss or debate my tactics and method. It's exhausting to continually repeating the same story with the same debates. Anyway I'll try to deal with it as well as possible.

Kamora F2
Well my buddy made it to Bogota Thursday with no problems. He connected with a good friend of mine and is hanging out with him for a couple days before heading out here. My friend in Bogota is a good person to meet when coming to Colombia, he's a grower. He's worked with me in zipacon and has a view like mine in regards to the weed. But he's also a musician that's a real artist that knows all the cool young people in Bogota. So I know my buddy from Hawaii is not only having a blast but also relitivly safe.
