First run of these genetics, although I know the parents. These two females look almost identical to the SMG. I know they're super long flowering just because of the lineage, but it's the perfect climate for them. At the moment we are entering a rainy season but only for a few weeks then a few weeks of sunshine to harvest.

Nice rainy season going on, the plants are responding well. Little pre flower starting just in time for the rains.

They look overall simulator but they're different.

These plants were selected for being acclimated to this harsh environment. They can handle the rains pretty well but at this altitude it's hail that concerns me.

Overall happy with the progress of these Colombians.

There's no "commercial" market for sativa or any interest. I grow tropical varieties for myself but nobody is interested but me. First it cbd (nonpsycoactive) so worked a few years developing a narrow leaf "hemp" plant like no other here. But boring work for me so I privately kept working with my sativa. What gets me is all the indoor growers here, I can't imagine living in Colombia south America and growing under a light bulb in hydro. I do understand it's about selling product but even a simpleton like me knows the Colombian sun is superior to a bulb. Anyway I'm retire in about 18 months and focus just on my plants.

I am sorry to hear about your loss of all your work man, those were real beauties for sure. I cannot imagine that happening. I would be livid. I hope you can find a way, a place to do your own thing and produce what you want in the way you want. Like another guy said, fuck the polyhybrids. Sativas are where it is at for sure. By the way, you grew those Malawi's to perfection in that greenhouse. peace.

Been raining a good bit the last few days, even had a little earthquake the other morning. But we need the rain and the plants are big enough to handle it. Saturday I went with Alex and planted a couple non psychoactive plants. He wasn't into digging the holes but pushed through without too much complaint. Alex isn't interested in weed or plants but tolerates me to keep the peace. I'm proud of him cause he shows determined effort at the gym and basically stays out of trouble. However he needs more purposefull spent time studying. But anyway I'm still working on my selfing job, just finishing up 3 variates and starting the next 3 variates. But I'm enjoying my Colombians and looking forward to hitting it.

Full on rainy season here, still get some breaks. The plants are in good condition despite 3 solid days of moderately hard rain. Beginning of April should be sunny to finish the flowering. Even though the weather is good for flowering year round, growing outside one must pay attention to the seasons.

hey red rider, saw you on the podcast of the seed syndicate show. i wish you could have talked longer without interference. i like the other guys, but i really dug hearing your recollections from the late seventies early eighties import scene. Never had true Columbian import myself. when i started smoking in "96 or so, it was mostly green Mexican, homegrown and then there was the cheap brown pressed/seedy Mexican. god i wish id kept the seeds! peace, love yer work.

Yeah I loved doing the podcast, Matt and Raho are really in tune with me and what I'm doing in Colombia. Actually working on remaking that first interview, it's easier for me to write stories than to tell them. I missed a lot of critical points that I thought were funny or plot dependent. But I want to do another interview adding more critical detail to the stories.
We've had a couple sunny days so I want to get over to the garden and clean out some of the overgrowth. I'm seriously considering putting a small transparent roof type greenhouse at the garden. Thing is once the owner of the garden sees I want to invest more he's going to want more. So I'll get my wife (pitbull) to speak with them about a possible deal. But I'm just focusing organizing the area and turning the compost. My son wants a little bit of money so we worked out a deal where he's going to do the manual part of the grow and get paid for it. You'd be surprised how long it took me to explain this concept to him but finally he got it. Now it's a matter of instilling a sense of initiative and daily goal setting. So far so good but he hasn't really gotten into it yet

It's easy to understand why not many people bother with these variates . Going on four months since germanation and still have at least two months to go. I will say that once a keeper is found, clones finish a month or even two sooner. It's a lot more time and money to grow out and select these variates even here.
IMG_20230317_132450457_MFNR~2.jpg

I grow and enjoy several variates of cannabis and all are part of the daily menu. However as I get older and have the opportunity to grow many types I really prefer the long flowering plants grown in the ground. All around weed that's just as great at sun rise as it is at midnight.

Time is not money, time is invaluable. Invest wisely.
