ICMag with help from Phlizon, Landrace Warden and The Vault is running a NEW contest for Christmas! You can check it here.
Prizes are: full spectrum led light, seeds & forum premium access. Come join in!
Thanks dude, hoping for a reasonable yield from the top plant.
Things downstairs aren't as good, I'm having a little leaf curl and much less dense buds.. although the strain downstairs is supposedly more sativa heavy. Will get some photos up once the lights are on!
Downstairs isn't doing so great, leaf curl and much slower growth. The only real variables between the two areas have been strain and temperature, we had a few really cold weeks at the start of spring and the issues started around the same time.
Day 42 snuck up and passed on me. Will update with some pictures tomorrow.
Temps are a little better now, downstairs still isn't looking great but hasn't got any worse. I've been feeding her half strength nutes and light waterings, will keep this going for at least another 14-21 days before I start flushing.
Upstairs is good, there's about a dozen main tops with 6" colas forming. There's 3-4 smaller stems with 2-4" of bud also.
Upstairs just had its last full strength nutes and I've dropped the canopy 4" to try and minimize the foxtailing.
Half strength nutes with molasses for 14 more days, then flush at 56 days for 7-14 days until chop.. depending on how the trichs look.
I figure these tiny containers are mostly roots at this point and won't need a long flush.
I'm interested in some opinions on pruning before/while flushing.
It was suggested by a friend who trims all his fan leaves/large leaves when he starts his two week flush, then any leaves without trichomes a week before chopping. His theory being less plant to flush results in a more complete flush and the pruning stress causes a boost in resin production.
I'm 50/50 on his theory and feel like chopping all the large leaves early might hurt final yield, although opening up more of each budsite to direct light for the last two weeks probably offsets that.
Nice update. I'm also interested in the process of pruning during the end of flower. I've seen some people strip fan leaves heavily and have a nice result, but just anecdotal evidence.
Day 56 12/12
Alright, it's been a manic two weeks in the real world but I've found time for a quick update and a couple of photos.
The upstairs plant is coming along well, just starting to show a few amber trichomes (1-2/100) so its day one of a one week flush and will chop at around 63 days.
Here's a close up of one of the main tops from the upstairs plant.
Downstairs has recovered, mostly, from its leaf curl and slow growth. I figure it's about 2 weeks behind, and being more sativa heavy I might let it run 12-13 weeks yet as it's only just starting to form reasonable trichomes.
Here's a shot of both plants, downstairs in front upstairs in back.
I'm looking forward to running the northern lights and delicious candy next, working on an auto watering system so I can go away over summer too.
But now its time to roll a big spliff and enjoy the rest of my afternoon off!
I'm looking forward to running some known genetics regardless!
I'm really happy with how the top plant has turned out and wish I could identify it. Glad I've got a hundred or so of the same bagseed to keep hunting through yet.
I'm going to run the top plant to 70 days, at around 59-60 days she started throwing out masses of fresh trichomes. I swapped her to the cooler bottom cab and switched the lights over to 13/11. This should emulate the end of summer a little better. Day 9 of straight water and just starting to show some autumn leaves.
The bottom plant has thrived since moving upstairs, this makes me feel that the cooler temperatures (particularly lights off root temp) have caused most of my issues downstairs. I'll insulate between the cab and the concrete floor it sits on and may add heating over winter.
I'll have some photos up a little later, new vaporizer has arrived!
You can buy metal halide/hps in single ended bulb down to about 20w and ceramic metal halide down to 50w. Lots of ballast options for 70w and 150w, 20w and 50w ballasts are a little less plug and play but available.
I'm using double ended rx7s bulb fittings, there's plenty of colour/wattage options in cmh or mh. I've used 70w mh, 70w and 150w cmh in this cab at 6500k, 4200k and 3000k. I might try using 4200k for both veg and flower next time round.
Looks good Gnz! Way to get them to yield, I love it, aren't you glad you didn't shoot for 60 days? your patience is well rewarded it sounds like, I'm thinking I pulled mine a bit early but its still nice its good to see buds abound, I got more on the way too, can't wait for the results, yours and mine
Great job! Cheers

Oh ya, def get something between that concrete, just in case.
And here's the smaller plant, she's been in the top half of the cab since ~59 days. Planning to chop at 77 days.
She wasn't prepared for any kind of weighty growth and didn't have the stronger stems of the upstairs plant, I think temperature and airflow are the issues in the downstairs cab.
The old leaf damage is hideous and she's buckling under her own weight but has certainly come a lot further than I expected.
