An interesting area to go see how the wall ends up getting built is the Brownsville Texas area, and about sixty miles to the west.
U.S. Government can take part of your land through eminent domain and probably other ways, but they cannot deny you access to the rest of your property along the border.

So they essentially have to leave gaps in the fence to allow access to the rest of your property.

There was a show on cnn I think, showing a lot of these breaks in the border, a lot of it recent construction.( could not find it) I did find some pictures on the following site:

Surprised this thread has been allowed to continue so long. I thought political threads weren't allowed here and for pretty good reason. Only took 1 page of comments before it devolved into name callings.

Tons of mod activity in this thread too, politics is just too divisive no one can talk cordially and it gets too heated.

yea you right but they are essencial beacause they affect all of us in one way or a other

i dont feel insolting is a good thing but its better then kikt in the face on the street so i think its good to hawe a talk on politics on forums like here
everybody can speak without beeing interupt ....everybody can take his time to think about what to reply...

The great Wall of Trump.

We need a wall, followed by a mote filled with alligators, sharks, and venomous snakes, then after that we need spike filled pits and other assorted boobies traps. We need drones patrolling the skies above and we'll armed border patrol on the ground ready to shoot any violators of our border.

If you try to violate the border of pretty much any other country on earth you can be beheaded, shot, imprisoned etc..why should the US be any different.

You think Mexico would take kindly to millions of Americans flooding into their country year after year, sucking up their tax money, stealing their jobs and using their resources.

Fuck no. This land should be secured for future generations of American born children, birthright liberty.

Any communist POS that thinks the US should have an open door to all trash the planet wants to hand us should just move to canada, or mexico or even north korea. See ya later

If you want to come in, come in legally no more border hopping.
thats a weird form of sarcasm..

I think it's a damn shame it's come to this. The southern border has been a problem for quite some time. The wall isn't to keep visa workers or genuine immigrants out, it's an effort to greatly curb nasty drug importation/cartels, human trafficking and illegal immigration.

Now why hasn't anyone done a damn thing about it? They could have reformed our visa programs right? Made immigration easier? But they didnt. They sat on their fat tufts and watched all the suffering.

And now we have reached the boiling point... critical mass and things are worse than ever down there. Death, drugs, guns, cash and human slaves. I find it amazing folks want this all to continue all in the name of an idealogical opposition to a physical barrier being added to help curb some of this shit.

Only time will tell. I can't promise how things will turn out. But I think people are tired of political people and wanted a citizen business person to have a shot at things. If he puts his business sense to work for the people things will work out, if it's all for him they wont. He's gonna be prez soon so we're going to find out.

The reason people cross this border is because it is the biggest economic difference of any two countries in the world. Until that is delt with a wall is ridiculous.

The US has been moving towards fascism for awhile now.
perhaps the "wall" is as much about keeping people in as keeping them out?

psychological control of the herd is much easier when they know there is no means of escape.

"There has been a massive intensification of border enforcement and personnel over the past decade – from FY2004 to FY2012, the budget for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) increased by 94 percent to $11.7 billion. At a time when migrant apprehensions are lower than at any time since the 1970s, wasteful spending by CBP must be reined in. As House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers' warned about wasteful border spending: "It is a sort of a mini industrial complex syndrome that has set in there. And we're going to have to guard against it every step of the way."

Jeez, does every discussion that even borders upon the political, have to end up like this?

The United States is sharply divided down the middle. Polarized.

One sees things one way, and the other side see them diametrically opposed. It is the blackest black against the whitest white.

Most people that I know and associate with are somewhere in the middle. They do not hate aliens, but may dislike illegal aliens. They may even feel sorry for some illegal aliens because they know the hardships they face in a poor country that is more of a republic than a true democracy, where 1% of the country has extreme wealth, the rest are in abject poverty, and there is a very small "middle class".

Many a person may want to boot out the illegals, but be in favor of a woman's choice in case of abortion. Many may feel that marijuana or even all drugs for that matter should be the choice of every adult and that the government should not try to legislate morality. Those same people may want to see the death penalty imposed on child rapist or murderers.

But guess what... the independents haven't got a snowballs chance in hell in the US Presidential elections. It takes at least half a billion dollars USD to run for president. Where does that money come from? It comes from huge lobbying parties like the LGBT, the Church and the Big Pharmacies to name a very small few. When those lobbies donate the sums that they do, they expect high profile appointed jobs and laws and supreme court justice appointments that address their special interest. It is the most fucked up system, but quite honestly one of the best on the planet. It is not a real dictatorship, it has plenty of checks and balances, there are term limits, and comes with limited powers. A president cannot persecute someone that opposes him in protest and he cannot have a someone in the legislative branch off'd for publicly disagreeing with him. He can always be impeached at the will of congress if they find charges to indite.

I cannot even vote in the USA, but studied politics at a famous American university as a minor to English and Art.

In my opinion the USA will always be able to buy their way out of any problem they incur, as long at they are on top of the financial food chain.

I live in the south. We down here always had someone to blame. The walls estimate to be twenty-five billion. Low estimate. Yes we can build the wall. Then we can just plow our roads up and ride on dirt roads. Just like they did in texas cause they gave all the tax breaks to the corporations and texas is broke.

I think Trump could still get Mexico to pay for the wall.If he just does what he does when building his hotels and golfcourses.Start the project by hiring contractors from Mexico, then when the project is done..stiff them for the payment.

Ok.I gotta say that I am really surprised that the Mods haven't closed this thread down. The vicious and vie hatred that is spewed by a few of the posters here really shows the deep division in our country.Nevermind that both parties are complicit (and everybody knows it).Frankly, there is very little hope when some folks are so determined to be right, that all reason and humanity are abandoned.

Hate it if you will, but I am ashamed for some of you.

China has made a big tourist success with it's Great Wall. People come from all over the world to visit it, and it's far safer and more organized than say visiting The Pyramids in Egypt these days. Possibly they could make a big commercial success out of this wall, building a Wall City around mid-point and having shopping malls, hotels and tours golf courses and many other amenities to entice visitors to visit.

As an engineering project, I find it quite interesting, not only by it's sheer size, but the potential to make it some sort of national treasure that will last thru the ages, as the Chinese have done with their wall.

Right now the cartels have zero border worries. They get so much across...and billions upon billions go back. Sure some large busts happen but it pales in comparison to the profit. Mexico is a third world shithole thanks to the cartels and corrupt government.

This clip is just another day in Mexico.
