Trump thread part 2 (Or anything else we want to talk about that's ridiculous in politics today)

It's really a good thing we don't live in a democracy but in a constitutional republic. Otherwise we as a country would look really stupid.

As opposed to only half of the country looking stupid.
The rest of the world does think you all look pretty stupid though. Over the last decade you've managed to elect the worst, most vitriolic manifestation of the American dream to run the country, dividing and regressing the country back to the stone ages. Then instead of offering up real change and progression the opposing side chooses to stick with the status quo and "any one but him" strategy twice in a row, running what amounts to a skin mask stretched over a knee as a candidate, very much ensuring that same basic fascist contingent a serious hope of running the country again. The rest of the world is watching this slow motion car crash, very much in the same way we hate watch cringe reality TV shows and think "Glad that's not me." Good luck though guys, doesn't seem there's a lot of hope either way. Guess there's always Canada...

We watched most of the republican debate. There were some parts we strongly agreed with, immigration for one. There were a few blatant lies like Haley saying we paid $6B for hostage release. Scott and Ramaswamy were totally full of shit with idiotic ideas like wanting to bomb Iran.

You mean the one where voters came out overwhelmingly in favor of supreme Court action, weed and abortion? Biden and the Dems allowed abortion rights & the courts to be eroded and they aren't going to do any more than this slow incrementalist corporatist approach on weed.

Creating your own problems so you can win back voters without actually doing anything new or what anyone wants.

He went back on all of his campaign promises and is actively supporting a genocide in Palestine.

The fact that the Dems aren't up by 10+ points by now is a joke.
No I mean the one where voters came out overwhelmingly against the abortion bans and keeping marijuana illegal that the republicans were trying to force on the voters despite them making it abundently clear that they don't want the local government telling them it's what is best for them.

Interesting spin you're trying to put on it trying to make it out like it's the dems fault that the previous administration stacked the Supreme court with justices that were only too happy to overrule 50 years of prescedent and strike down Roe v Wade despite every one of the new justices saying they would never go against settled law. If that was all the dems doing then how come Trump has going around taking all the credit for making it happen?

I don't see where he went back on his campaign promises at all, he got the DEA to re-evaluate the scheduling of cannabis and got it reduce to a much more reasonable scheduling. Sure it shouldn't be on any scheduling but that's not what he promised, that's just what people like you and me think although admittedly we're a bit biased. As for what's going on in the mideast, I don't see it as him actively supporting a genecide in palestine I see it more as him actively preventing genocide in Israel. I mean what did anyone expect when palestinian forces invaded Isreali territory and fired thousands of rockets to brutally murder hundreds of innocent civilians mostly women and children, wounding several thousand more andd for good measure take a few hundred captives to use as human shields and bargaining chips when Israel would inevitably strike back against such a cowardly attack?

The facts are that the Dems are up by 10+ points because the polls you revealled were only half the results showing how people would vote if Trump wasn't convicted of the crimes he's indicted for. If you put up the rest of the results where they asked how people would vote if Trump was convicted then Biden would win each of those six swing states most by more the 10 points. But hey I get it, that's what you Trumpers do you only look at the things you like and ignore everything else.

Hold your horses there Hemp. Cannavore is a disillusioned far left radical borderline hardcore socialist/commie. And possibly a nihilist. But he is no Trumper.

Of course everyone knows by now or at least should, that polls are notoriously unreliable, especially ones that are a year out from an election. I mean if they were reliable then Hillary should have become President in 2016 and there should have been a big red wave in 2022 instead of a wimpering trickle.

he said he will not continue building the wall.... as of now construction is continuing....
From what I understand of that particular talking point is that the portion of wall still be worked on was/is already bought and paid for and due to the laws governing allocations of government funding, can't just simply be stopped. I'm pretty sure when he made to promise of not continuing the wall he was saying there will be no new allocation of resources to wall construction. To be honest I've not been following the wall issue much since from day one it was a stupid idea guarenteed to fail since all a wall does is slow people down but doesn't stop them. Anyway for all I know the construction still going on might have even been a concession to the right given in order to get enough votes to pass the big infrastructure bill passed at the beginning of his presidency.

Only in this day and age could far left and far right fall into the same Venn Diagram.

And don't be like that. You know context and nuance is everything.
The way I see it is that if it walks like a Trumper and talks like a Trumper, then it must be a Trumper.

"You will do what we tell you to do no matter what you want." - GOP

“To prevent mischief by pro-abortion courts, Ohio legislators will consider removing jurisdiction from the judiciary over this ambiguous ballot initiative,” the lawmakers said. “The Ohio legislature alone will consider what, if any, modifications to make to existing laws based on public hearings and input from legal experts on both sides.”

Issue 1 passed Tuesday with 57 percent of the vote.
