I recently had an interesting conversation with a young black man from Jamaica who came to the US via Canada. He is working his way up through the medical field, and we were discussing the plight of the Jamaicans. He said that after long consideration, he had arrived at a plan that he thought was their only hope to break the endless cycle of poverty and ignorance. His idea was to remove the children from their parent's influence once they hit school age, educate them, and show them that there were far more opportunities in life other than laying around smoking ganja all day...
